And the Least Shall Be Last

The 49ers and Cardinals meet tonight in a battle for the basement in the NFC West. That the Niners are engaged in this sort of tawdry affair is no surprise, but Arizona has been a surprise disappointment thus far in the 2016 season.

The 49ers have given the Rams their only loss, the Panthers their only win, and been beaten by a hobbled Russell Wilson in Seattle and a Cowboys rookie backup QB Dak Prescott. Thursday, they are likely to face yet another backup QB, perennial second stringer Drew Stanton.

The Niners are a bit banged up themselves. Standout ILB NaVorro Bowman is out for the year and both starting DEs, DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead, are hobbled with ankle and shoulder problems. On the plus side, replacing these two with Quinton Dial and Glenn Dorsey might give the team a far better run stopping ability than Buckner and Armstead, who have spent more time skating backwards than holding their ground at the point of attack or watching a play go right through where they should have been providing at least speed bump duty.

Not sure what’s wrong with the Cardinals, other than maybe Carson Palmer morphing into Jake Delhomme after his disastrous game in Carolina during last year’s playoffs. Palmer never has been noted for his big game ability, something he evidently learned during his stint with the Bengals, who seem to specialize in QBs who play great during the regular season and fizzle out in the post season. But Palmer has carried over last year’s epic stink bomb into the first four games of this year.

Whether the Niners win or lose, nothing much will change. They’re still in for a long season of losing more often than not. The Cardinals, though, considered themselves Super Bowl contenders when the season began. A loss to the lowly Bay Area boys would give them a 1-4 record and a long shot to even make it back to the playoffs. Which might prompt hot-tempered Cardinals’ HC Bruce Arians to reprise Jim Mora‘s epic meltdown rant.

Speaking of players not where they’re supposed to be, the Cowboys got in the act, too. The first pic shows the Dallas linebacker perfectly positioned to move to his right and meet Hyde in the very large hole opening up between Dan Kilgore and Andrew Tiller. But …

… in the second pic we see the ILB has moved to his left, opting to expect Hyde to run wide and thus removing himself entirely from Hyde’s path. Carlos widened his eyes, said “Thank you very much” and rumbled straight up the middle for 32 yards, toward the lone safety at the top of the pic, who was no doubt praying somebody would tackle the beast before he reached him. Perhaps the Cowboy LB was auditioning for Trent Baalke in hopes of making our team next year..

Skeebers, I’m not sharp-shooting your pics, really.

That play was a zone read option, as they left the DE unblocked, and the WLB #50 was covering Gabbert. The MLB #59 played too far to the playside and couldn’t get back in time when Hyde cut back into the hole.

The safety playing deep couldn’t tackle Hyde either but did force him into the CB who chased him down. The CB had been covering Smith and I assume Smith should have blocked him but instead Celek and Smith both blocked the SS (first pic) and left the CB to chase down Hyde who had green grass beyond that deep safety and would have went for a 75 yd TD.

250-0, Cards. After the game, a lot of 49er players are given pink slips never to play in the NFL again, and with their undoubted CTE, they’ll all be on welfare in no time with NoFear footing the bill while the movement behind Colin Kaepernick continues to grow!

Questionable run D gives up 17 on first play to AZ. Battle of the backup QBs. Gabber overthrows Celek on first play, ho humm. CAR will keep it on ground a lot methinks.

20 minutes into the Toilet Bowl. 49ers have 12 yards passing. 12 freaking yards. And 39 rushing. Against a poor AZ team. Wow.

  7. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Heh. I should criticize them more often.

Yup, might score again. But Gabber cannot complete a deep pass = everything is high and away. Uncatchable throws.

Guess we don’t hold leads for long. At the half we are marginally outplaying the Cards in TOP, rushing and passing yards, first downs.

Drew Effing Stanton is giving us the royal beat-down.

    We stink on ice.

31-14 Winder. So your 31-13 call is looking pretty good right now.

I haven’t been watching the game. What did I miss? Oh, wait. It’s a 49er game. I didn’t miss shit! Go Michigan!

Somebody told me to take the Niners and the points. Hahaha!!!

Not enough points in Vegas to make that look right. Kelly even slowed it down to 28+ minutes TOP. Can’t go slow enough to compensate for the idiots on the sidelines on their knees and raising their black power thug salute. Idiots!

We’ve got until next Sunday to get ready to play but this freakin’ team will use it to plan their protest stunt instead.

Keep losing assholes! Replace the lot of them and try to get back to football and the fans for next year.

  14. SpitbloodNo Gravatar says:

Typical NoFear trying to turn this into a protest issue. Like the 49ers would be any good if Kaep stood. My ass.

  15. Phil fanNo Gravatar says:

The core mission of the Niners is clearly not winning football games. That ended when York decided to keep the suit and dump 49 Wins. No their core mission is promoting the NFL killing ‘protest movement’ of the BLM Soros leftists. Hence Kaepernick, Reid and Harold on the sidelines dissing the National Anthem. And the two Beyonce concerts blaming whites for all violence on Blacks at Levis. And the large cash donation to NC to fight keeping men out of womens bathrooms, a favorite Yorkie cause.

These ideological (and anti-US, anti-human) policies are the core mission of the York family. You want winning football, go find a traditional ownership group that otherwise has it’s shit together. We have neither.
