Barking on a Corner

We all have our squabbles and quibbles about various players on the 49ers, with some fellows probably more prone to squabbilifying than others due to the testicle shrinking weather conditions of the upper Yukon — but, hey, I’m no doctor!

Alex Smith, Michael Crabtree, and Dashon Goldson get the most action pro and con. Ted Ginn and Kyle Williams get grudging acceptance or not. Chilo Rachal has moved his disappointing rear end elsewhere. But one thing we all agree on, shrunken testicles or not, is that the 49ers have arrived. They will be serious contenders, each and every year, for quite a long time.

Some of you may be thinking, “Yada yada yada.”

To which I might be responding, “Go live in Cleveland for a half century and you will have the yada squeezed out of you in a long, agonizing, life squelching fashion. The only thing worse than getting a life sentence to root for Cleveland teams is living in the Bay Area with all the wonderful choices that surround you and choosing to be a Raiders fan. May as well tattoo a sign on your forehead: “i b dum.”

Go ahead. Look back over your life. Think of the years that none of the teams you root for were worth watching. You’ll find that bad shit happened to you that year. You lost your way. You wandered in the valley of darkness. You drifted off your rails. Some of you, not to mention any real estate salesmen rotting in Eureka and smoking pot all day while imagining they KNOW THINGS, never recovered!

Why do you think Oakland is falling apart? Its teams all stink. Year after year. This endless loser routine eats at you. Corrodes your soul. Turns your neighborhood into a wasteland. Makes you want to do drugs or become a chemist.

But I’m not going to belabor the point, whatever it was, since I already have, in spite of its non-existence. And I’m not going to expect to win the Super Bowl every year, either. That expectation is for rookies and aging alcoholics. After all, the football ain’t round. Get a clue.

Anyway, here’s a list of franchises that have never won a Super Bowl: Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, San Diego, Tennessee, Houston, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Detroit, Minnesota, Carolina, Atlanta, Seattle, and Arizona. Almost half the teams in the league.

And here’s a list of good/great QBs who never won a SB: John Brodie, Ron Jaworski, Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Mike Vick, Matt Hasselbeck, Roamn Gabriel, John Hadl, Ken Anderson, Archie Manning, Doug Flutie, Sonny Jurgensen, Boomer Esiason, Rich Gannon, Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, Y. A. Tittle, Steve McNair, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Dan Marino, and I’m Sure I Missed Somebody.

So, be happy. And that’s all I have to say about that.

NoFear- I had no doubt you would not understand the last 3-4 seminar chapter. I’ll sum it up. The game is won on the field by players, not by being book smart.
If you look in the mirror, you shall see your “tornado of bullshit”. I am wrapping up this seminar for you because I feel you have been so Nolanized that there is not hope of getting over your Nolan wall. You are too far gone.

  2. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Here’s whats really a tornado of bullshit here on this blog.
“And it won’t bother me even a little. I don’t profess to be an omniscient and I don’t depend on being right about something I can’t possibly know or making others believe I am to make a living, nor do I need to use any seldomly correct guesses as a club to beat others over the head on an internet blog. But I do understand that some do, so flail away, if and when you get one right.”
“Consequences of Erudite Vernacular Utilized Irrespective of Necessity: Problems with Using Long Words Needlessly” – Daniel Oppenheimer

And some advice from another writer
“Avoid the elaborate, the pretentious, the coy and the cute. Do not be tempted by a twenty-dollar word when there is a ten-center handy, ready and able.”

Someone is trying way too hard to compensate here. Big difference in being intelligent and acting intelligent.

I’ll give you a clue, live up to what you post instead of stating one thing and doing the opposite.

bulli- Your avatars are changing often lately. I thought I knew you! LOL!

  6. Unca ChuckNo Gravatar says:

The point being, we all mostly get along here, despite differences of opinion. You are a subtle as a rock. You cast aspersions wildly and obtusely, but get your poor little feewings hurt when retaliated upon. You and Twinfan are very similar in that regard.
This is all fun and games, skippy. No one is even close to being as desperately serious as you are about this shit.

  7. BergerNo Gravatar says:

The Central Scrutinizer chimes in with hurt feelings! This time crying for attention by claiming he knows Baghdad Bob.
This was a perfect analogy. Bob was on TV telling his people and the world they were winning while we were watching the tanks rolling in on split screen. NoFear tells us about how you need to know about complex defensive designs while Nolan proved it doesn’t work. Does this make him the Central Scrutinizer from Baghdad?
Simplicity works best. Players getting to the ball quicker is what works best.

  8. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Thanks for the kind words, NoFear, but I’m hoping luck had nothing to do with it.

    omg !

  12. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear- I wish my name was Bob. Bob, Bob. Did you notice I spelled Bob forward and backwards? You can’t tell! If my name was Bob I could spell it forward or backward and I couldn’t misspell it! Berger, Regreb. That is not be a good palindrome like Bob.

  13. BergerNo Gravatar says:

“Berger, you must know Bob, too. He posts under your screen name all the time.”

NoFear- I’m impressed! You put two sentences together with simple words to make a simple declarative statement. I knew you could! When you stop obfuscating you can be understood sometimes.

  14. BergerNo Gravatar says:

You must have been reading the “see Dick run” books. Good job!

  15. Unca ChuckNo Gravatar says:

Personal attacks? I’m merely pointing out facts, skippy.
Too bad you can’t handle the truth. Poor widdwe NoFear can’t take the vagaries of the blog world. Lighten up, Nancy. Oh that’s right your funny bone was removed 37 years ago.
Glad to see you still visit though, skippy. Try posting once in a while. Cat got yer tongue? Or are you still afraid to climb out on that proverbial limb?
    Bergs, you must drive
    a toyota
sorry, those are the only pallindronmes I can come up with on short notice.

  16. Unca ChuckNo Gravatar says:

Then again, this is what you are all about, NoFear. This is your thrill in life, Virtual chain-pulling.
See ya ion the flip-side, skippy.

  17. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Unca- Did you notice I was complimenting NoFear?

  18. robNo Gravatar says:

can we all just get along ?

  19. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

They should have given that dummy another beating for uttering that moronic line.

  20. bullitNo Gravatar says:

All that needs to be said is 18-37 w-l record, .327 winning % and JT O”Sullivan at QB.

  21. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Rob: NO. WTH is wrong with you?! It’s the internet, get with the program!!!!! j/k

  22. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Any moron who thinks JT O’Sullivan is a better QB than Alex Smith should be fired for that decision alone. Nolan and NoFear come to mind. Idiots are just idiots. Sorry Central Scrutinizer, compliments stop on this one. Tell us you thought Alex is better than JTO and I won’t call you a moron. Del Mar, are you a moron? What moron takes JTO over Alex Smith? Please step forward.

  23. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Grumpy- Thanks! Somebody had to set Rob straight. Good job, baby!

  24. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear- I want a straight up answer, JTO or Alex Smith? No answer means you picked JTO. This is the moron vs NoFear/Central Scrutinizer test.

  25. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear- Baghdad Bob just called. He told me you gave him all the info he relied on. At this point I have to stop and thank you for being a good American. You did good during the war.
Unfortunately, he told me you weren’t faking it, you really don’t know what you are talking about. He told me he forgave you when you chose JT O’Sullivan over Alex Smith. He said at that point he realized you are just a moron. Please tell me he is wrong, please tell me you picked Alex over JTO.

  26. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear- BTW, Baghdad Bob told me to tell you he wants you to call him. He wants to relive the days when he felt superior over somebody, anybody. He said you gave him that warm and fuzzy feeling.

  27. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear/Central Scrutinizer- I would so want to go against you. You would be the easiest of prey. You would be like going against Mike Nolan. While you would have your nose in some book, I would be strategizing and kicking your ass. May I get you some vanilla ice cream?

  28. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

    Put. The. Bottle. Down.

  29. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

OR, if yer ar Dr. Fronkensteen’s castle, Put. The. Candle. BACK!

  30. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Unca- If you are talking to me, I need to be impaired to talk to NoFear. He is not very intelligent. I need to lower my IQ to communicate. Most military we honor. We do honor NoFear, but we have to wonder if he was impaired.

  31. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

NoFear has more fans on this site than anyone. Devoted reliable fans. How does he do it? Dunno. More fans than Skeebers, not sure about the stones tho. Chuck is here more than there. It all started when he took personal responsibility to cudgel Spitwad outta here and it worked. Yeah I’m a fan of his- Chuck not Spitwad you moron. Spit had his fans too and I even kinda liked him. But I’m with Rob and Grumpy and am here to enjoy not to bitch (too much).
My diagnosis is this: after the Giants waltzed off to the big dance disappointment and boredom set in big time and with not much going on with our guys we got the next best thing: food fights, oh yeah

  32. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

“Ulaanbaatar Standard Time zone same as Philippines. My favorite where ever that is.”
What yer not paying attention and do not care? Further don’t give a shit or a rat’s ass? Fine, I’ll be brief.
Ulaanbaatar is the capital of Mongolia FYI. Which is in the same time zone as Indonesia/PI. Mongolia you may not care to know either is now ‘part’ of China, one of the parts involuntarily under her heavy jackboots.
Since Skeebs will immediately post some inane crap after this the likely last post of the day in another vain attempt to change the subject let me say in closing: The Word of the Day is dead so I’d like to fill the void with a geographic reference here or there. Ulaanbaatar, who knew?

  33. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Phil- Who loves you more than me? I’m the one that named you Phil! Don’t cater to NoFear and Spitty, what, you got coconut in your butt? Those guys obvuscate and diverge. Stay on track. We love you. If you stray to the dark side we will start cutting coconut trees to piss you off!

  34. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

That would piss me off Bergs you got that. Well I do know who loves me more, this isn;t about you fer crying out loud. Anyways I’m strictly a part-time darksider. Just ask Skeeber.
I’m just balancing things out a little because the pie fights aren’t as much fun if certain guys are out numbered is all. Notice my insults are strictly G rated?
You pathetic sack of atheistic slug slime. Hands off my coconut trees

  35. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Much has been made of what Crabtree said about Alex Smith right after losing to the Giants.
It was a bitter loss and there was a lot of frustration in his comments. Watching a game on TV and seeing game film are too different views, I hadn’t seen this article until today. I often have been labelled an Alex Smith lover. Game film does not lie and a tentative QB will not win the game for your team. He needs to pull the trigger.

Alex Smith can only learn from that game and it is my hope that
he does. That said he’s our QB until CK, JJ or Tolzein steps up and surpasses him.

The author Greg Cossell is a national guy and doesn’t have an ax to grind so he’s probably on track.

Now put yourself into Crabtree’s shoes and reporters in your face asking you why you only had one catch. What would you say?

  36. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

I say we give the Crab a chance this season to show us what he got. I think he’ll do fine inspired by the JH Competition Regime. Moss, Manningham will go a long ways in our analysis of the Crab.
Just like Alex who did indeed rise to the occasion last season we gotta see MC do his thing which I believe he will.
Pulls the ‘holdout’ crap, the ‘who’s Alex’ shit, uh huh….

  37. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

There were always two things with Alex. One, like most young QBs, he was prone to the bonehead mistake. He was coached, repeatedly, to avoid that, and over time, he cut down on them. Last year, he pretty much did not make them.
But, two, he also leaves a lot of plays on the field. The clock in his head is just the slightest bit slow, and it costs the team opportunities.
It’s this second problem that Alex now has to overcome if he wants a long term presence here. And this time, he won’t get seven years to perfect it. He needs to make those plays, and make them this year. With two young QBs in the wings waiting for their chance, Harbaugh will give him his chance, but he won’t give him forever.

  38. BergerNo Gravatar says:

It is funny. When I read the article bullit put up I get the feeling no QB in history had ever overthrown a 50 yard pass until Alex did. We had a 17-7 lead in the 4th quarter. I think our odds of winning were pretty good. It is not like Alex went Tony Romo and threw a couple of pick 6’s to get the other team back in the game. And he did lead us to a game tying FG to send it it OT. Cossell picked out three plays. That is it, 3 plays. Most all QBs have 3 bad plays in a game. Yet we had a 10 point lead. I guess that was a bad thing.

  39. BergerNo Gravatar says:

The most amazing part of the article by Cossell was that Crabtree actually got open once.

  40. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

As usual GRUMP, agree; it’s now or never for da Smythester…
Given an intelligent regime of coaching backed up by a high football IQ Front Office we gotta expect More and we’ll get it.

  41. BergerNo Gravatar says:

    NoFear- Alex Smith or JTO?

  42. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Singletary 18-22 record as head coach
Mike Nolan 18-37 yet according to you he was unjustly fired.
Seems like you’re the myopic one.

Let me repeat what you posted
“And it won’t bother me even a little. I don’t profess to be an omniscient and I don’t depend on being right about something I can’t possibly know or making others believe I am to make a living, nor do I need to use any seldomly correct guesses as a club to beat others over the head on an internet blog. But I do understand that some do, so flail away, if and when you get one right.”

You are Hypocrisy defined. You’re always the first to point out things and pat yourself on the back. You talk about tornado of bullshit? Nofear is the source.

  43. BergerNo Gravatar says:

If I’m going to be Baghdad Berger I’ll need to buy some baggy pants!

  44. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Crippling group think?
Yes most of us unlike you root for the Niners and want them to succeed.
Apparently you have a different agenda NF.

  45. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear- One thing you need to learn, every blogger is an omniscient!

  46. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

NoFear is a lot like Spitty in that he wants to generate responses to his hyperbolic and reactionary posts.
Unless he isn’t talking about Alex or Teflon Mike, he has little to offer in the way of football discourse.

  47. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Crippling group think? Great band name. Funny thing is, Sluminum Mike and Teflon Mike followed nearly the same coaching trajectory. A surprising turnaround followed by a total disaster, and the ensuing paranoid freak out. Granted, Aluminum Mike had more to work with than TM, but in the end, they both succumbed to the pressures of not being able to develop a cogent offense to complement the defense.
What team are you a fan of, NoFear? I’d assume it to be Atlanta, since that’s the current home of Hall of Fame coach Mike The Suit Nolan.

  48. bullitNo Gravatar says:

NoFear’s bro V is now on his 53rd alias on SF Gate posting as Haley94. He wants to be the first to throw Harbaugh under the bus
just like his bro NF who was bragging earlier he told us so about Singletary. Nonstop propaganda campaign against the Niners.
Here’s part of one of V’s posts
“It’s sad when Harbaugh has the team prepared well to play every Sunday but has no sportsmanship or class what so ever. All the 49ers Head Coaches at least won with class, even Singletary had class. Harbaugh’s all up in coaches faces smiling, taking off his shirt, jumping around like a monkey when the 49ers win and after loss he hardly wants to acknowledge other coaches or the media, that’s not 49er football.”

Appaently V forgot that Bill Walsh skipped off the fiels after beating the Bengals.

And you wonder why I’ve called these two numbskulls trolls?

  49. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Just saw that “I’ll Have Anther” won the Preakness by a nose.
On his way as he has now won 2/3
    of the Triple Crown.

  50. bullitNo Gravatar says:

As for Harbaugh’s contract, he’s being paid hansomely and the other coaches in the NFC West had head coaching experience in the NFL so their salary’s reflect that.
If Harbaugh has continued success I;m sure the Niners will rework his deal after 3 years.
There is no reason to overpay Harbaugh based on just one year.
Just like they won’t fire him if the team doesn’t meet expectations.
Harbaugh is in the the top half
of NFL coaches salarywise and that’s not bad considering he’s only been doing it for a year,

  51. robNo Gravatar says:

    well BULLI

as ”handsome’ as it may be … we need to consider spending our billions wisely !

don’t forget there’s no salary cap for coaching , so why not !

imho you get what you pay for !

imo harbaugh and fangio should be offered a boatload of cash asap !

  52. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear- We joust and jibe here. We call each other out constantly. We even enjoy making fun of each other. It is just fun. Try it, you might like it. You are too serious my friend.
Nolan never blamed himself for anything. IMO it was his biggest downfall. You are a lot like Nolan. Relax. Being able to be laughed at is actually a good quality.

  53. bullitNo Gravatar says:

The only thing you ever share is your myopic tornado of BS, and we know what that’s worth.

I try to share info others might miss that involve the Niners. I like to provide links so people can read for themselves.

Why is V your brother? You are in lockstep with his point of view.
The curious thing is you are the only two anals that have tried to correct me on the spelling of my handle because both of you assume too much and think alike. You have no clue why my handle is Bullit and you’re correcting me?

And again you have the panties in a twist? After you again post your tornado of BS and tell everyone you could care less if you’re perceived right or wrong
    and it doesn’t bother you?
You are just a cyber bully PERIOD
who has to compensate his shortcomings here.
Must be something wrong with a guy who has to continually go to the thesauras when he posts to impress peers.

  54. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Multiple screen names are the specialty of your brother V and your partners Spitblood and Guest.

    You keep calling others hypocrite
and again let me remind you of your words aka Tornado of BS
“And it won’t bother me even a little. I don’t profess to be an omniscient and I don’t depend on being right about something I can’t possibly know or making others believe I am to make a living, nor do I need to use any seldomly correct guesses as a club to beat others over the head on an internet blog. But I do understand that some do, so flail away, if and when you get one right.”

Perhaps you should withdraw your above statement and gain some creditbility and respect because you fail to live up to it miserably

  55. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NoFear- Bullit is punking you badly. How do you let this happen? We are all going to bed now. This is the time you usually post without regard to a reply. How convenient! How calculating. Do something while we sleep. It is just embarrassing to see you get your ass kicked this badly by Bullit.

  56. Unca ChuckNo Gravatar says:

Singletary may not have been the answer, but Nolan was less of that answer than Aluminum Mike.
Boo hoo. Pine away for the suit, Skippy.
See? I capitalized it this time.
No, NoFear, I ask because you rarely say anything remotely positive about the team you nominally are a fan of. A team that made a pretty big turnaround in one year. You’ve been pissy sonce Teflon Mike was shown the door.
And, yes, if I won the lottery after 7 years of trying, I’d still be happy. Apparently you’d be miserable for all the ones of dollars you lost before your payday.

  57. robNo Gravatar says:

offering more money might not be a sure thing … but it sure wouldn’t hurt !

  58. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

    Tough crowd this weekend.

  59. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I posted your proclamation 3 times because you obviously like calling others hypocrite when you can’t abide by your self proclaimed standards. So why did you say that and not practice what you preach? Because it was a tornado of BS and just a smokescreen and talking point.
You bemoan the fact that posters engage in personal attacks on you. The fact of the matter is they are just returning fire which obviously you can dish but are too thin skinned to take.

Instaed of answering honest criticism you sidestep and close your ears and hope it goes away.
You avaid the truth and call others here delusional?

Sadly you just don’t get it because you relish being the resident troll.

  60. BergerNo Gravatar says:

NF- I was just trying to get you to step up your game. Bullit is calling you out and you are side stepping. Bullit is still kicking your ass. Step up your game, son.

  61. bullitNo Gravatar says:

OK back to football and enough of this sideshow.

Sando has an interesting article in ESPN with a chart on stats of receiver drops.

Here is a link to that article

I will continue to provide links to srticles that might stimulate discussion until Skeebs tells me to stop or some of the regulars here say to stop and I will.

I’m not sure what the issue about this is? Nobody is twisting any arms to access the article through the link. If you are not interested just ignore it and move on.
I enjoy video footage from practices and interviews and sharing those podcasts.

  62. bullitNo Gravatar says:

With the return of Carlos Rogers and the pickup of Perrish Cox the Niners are in great shape at Cornerback with Terrell Brown and Chris Culliver. This might be their best group of corners since Don Griffin and Tim McKyer.

A few days ago there was this video of T Brown and Rogers

  63. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Chuck, so good to see that you’ve finally come around to capitalizing “Skippy.” It was a longtime coming and is much appreciated.
Good afternoon, Mr. (Mike) Hunt. Your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to remember the apostrophe in “D’oh!” from here on out. You may select any two team members, but it is essential that the third member of your team be Merriam-Webster. It is a dictionary. You have only 48 hrs. to acquire this piece of knowledge. As always, should any member of your team be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. This post will self-destruct in five seconds.

  64. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Loved me some Lynda Day George. Not only was she hot, but she guest-starred in some great TV shows from the 60’s and 70’s, and then later co-starred in some campy horror film with her husband Christopher. Good stuff, Maynard.
Maynard? Maybe I should start calling all youse guys Maynards. That’s likely to get your goat.

  65. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

The article Skeebs wrote above sez we squabble about the value of various players (and coaches). When that’s not happening like now then the squabbling starts about each other. So yeah there’s great entertainment value here but it is a tough crowd.

BTW what can you tell us about the Spratley Islands? Where when, why? Nothin’ huh? Fine, sprat you then.

  66. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

Del Mar I know you’ll have another but what do ya think the chances of “I’ll Have Another” are in the Belmont? That colt’s got heart.

  67. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

I don’t know how many of you other Outsiders are readers of Chuck’s fine establishment, but I posted this yesterday. I usually don’t like to toot my own horn, but I thought it wasn’t half bad. At least Phil seemed to enjoy it.
I had a near death experience yesterday that has changed me forever. I went horseback riding. Everything was going fine until the horse started bouncing out of control. I tried with all my might to hang on, but was thrown off. Just when things could not possibly get worse, my foot gets caught in the stirrup. When this happened, I fell head first to the ground. My head continued to bounce harder as the horse did not stop or even slow down. Just as I was giving up hope and losing consciousness, the Walmart manager came and unplugged it. Thank Christ for heroes!

  68. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Sorry to disagree but Mission Impossible was at it’s best with Babara Bain and Martin Landau aka
    Cinammon Cater and Rollin Hand.

Here is another great series from the past. Who remembers watching this?

  69. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

Chuck should get creative like that Denny. Had me fooled fer a minute you dawg

  70. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Speaking of horses here a great movie theme

  71. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Phil, I’d like to say his chances are good, but recent history says they are not. Prior to I’ll Have Another, 12 other horses won the first two jewels of the Triple Crown with the hopes of becoming the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed beat my horse, Alydar, in all three races back in ’78.
It’s a tough task. There are three other horses (Alpha, Dullahan and Union Rags)who ran in the Derby that bypassed the Preakness and are scheduled to run in the Belmont. Those are three quality runners. Union Rags chief amongst them. That added two weeks of rest is crucial. Especially nowadays for the horses who are not bred and not conditioned to run three extremely grueling races in a five week span. Racing has changed quite a bit in the last 25-30 years. And not for its betterment I might add.

  72. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Tinyurl failed but it was probably operator error

    Meant to say this

  73. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Bullit, “The Persuaders!” was one of my Mom’s favorite TV shows. Both she and I were huge Tony Curtis fans.

  74. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Bullit, big John Wayne fan? Funny, I know I’m in the minority, but The Duke even make my Top Ten List. I love Letterman’s Top Ten Lists, btw. But getting back to “The Horse Soldiers,” I’m a William Holden man myself. “The Bridge on the River Kwai,” “The Wild Bunch,” “Stalag 17” “The Towering Inferno” and “S.O.B” are some of my favorites. Speaking of “S.O.B,” Blake Edwards ranks very high on my Top Ten List. I could watch and discuss his movies all day long.

  75. bullitNo Gravatar says:

As you get older you learn to appreciate John Wayne. More of a fan of John Ford and one of my favorite westerns was “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon”
I liked Tony Curtis too. Three of his movies that I enjoyed were
“The Vikings”, “Black Shield of Falwaorth” and “Tauras Bulba”.
Yep I too am a Blake Edwards
admirer from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s: to the Pink Panther Series. I had forgotten he also directed “Operation Petticoat”
    and “10”

Phil, maybe it’s destined for I’ll have Another to win the Triple Crown. Get a load of this…I’ll Have Another won the Derby by 1 1/2 lengths and the Preakness by a neck — those are the exact same margins posted by Affirmed over Alydar 34 years ago. Maybe the stars are aligning this year.

I hope so, racing could use a shot in the arm so to speak. 12 others prior to I’ll Have Another? Hmmm, well the odds would seem to be going UP that one of these blind hogs, err… horses, will get their acorn. (Jack Reynolds comment, right? Keith Faunhorst?)
It’s a hell of a distance (1 1/2 miles) for a horse who ran 3 weeks earlier while the best of the rest skip the Preakness and lay in the weeds for the Belmont. It can be done as Affirmed showed against Alydar but it might be as close again. Face it Secretariat, Muhammad Ali and the ’84 Niners are rare events. Damn that was 34 yeahs ago! Time for some hoss racin’ excitement my friend.
We will have some OTAs and a Mandatory Camp. Then we will have a few minutes to see if THE CURSE of ALYDAR will finally be broken. Actually coulda been the curse of Dennis…hyuk hyuk.
