Cardinals 18, 49ers 15

The 49ers and Cardinals played a seesaw OT yawner in Arizona Sunday, but the end result was the same as the previous week’s seesaw donnybrook. Another loss. The Niners have played three straight games against their division opponents and lost them all.

Both teams were allergic to the end zone — until the very last seconds of overtime, when Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald hooked up for the 19 yard game winning pass. The Niners had five FGs, the Cardinals four plus the TD.

Before the game 30 49er players jumped on the protest bandwagon and knelt for the Anthem in a purported show of “unity.” They must have changed the definition of that word recently, because 30 guys kneeling and 33 standing is the very appearance of a fractured and divided entity. Worse, it was so last week. This week, most of the kneelers had resumed standing. Which is pretty laughable all by itself.

Brian Hoyer completed just barely 50% of his passes during the game, moving backup CJ Beathard ever closer to the starting job. Another couple of losses and there wouldn’t be much point in not seeing what he can do. If that happens, it will mark the third straight year of musical chairs at the QB spot. That was a featured element of the 2005-2010 49ers.

If Hoyer loses next week versus the Colts, it could be his last game as starter. The only reason Indianapolis isn’t 0-4 along with the Niners, Giants, Chargers, and Browns right now is that the Colts had the opportunity of a Browns game on their schedule. We’ll find out next Sunday which team is the lousier. And that’s about all we’ll find out.

In other news, the Rams look like the real deal this year. They beat the Cowboys in Dallas yesterday to take the lead in the NFC West. Their offense is explosive and if DC Wade Phillips gets that defense working, and he probably will, the Rams could be serious postseason contenders.

The shoo-in SB contenders, the Patriots, don’t look so hot right now. They lost to the Panthers Sunday, for their second home loss of the season. Hahaha. Their defense stinks and nobody wins SBs without some form of decent defense.

How foolish do our prognostications appear this morning? 5-11?! What was I thinking? Do they get even two wins? At least they are varied in their losing ways. They can lose blow outs. They can lose in OT. They can lose defensive slug fests and offensive shoot-outs. Your 2017 Niners – “Doing what it takes to lose.”

It looks like the growing pains are gonna take a little longer with these guys. Even though there are area’s we lack in talent as a whole I don’t see anyone giving up or mailing it in. It will get better.

β€œThe 49ers lead the league in Penalties.”

That’s quite a coincidence since according to their widely circulated class photo before the game they also lead the league in the most kneeling pussies. But seeing as they are also tied to lead the league in losses maybe the connection is obvious.

They should show videos of real heroes in LV running toward the gunfire with handguns to protect the innocents just before a shot of Shit7torm in his pig socks and the fade to York’s band of kneeling pussies posing for their next loss. Then onto their pimp Goodell explaining that “yes, they are spitting in your face but it’s got nothing to do with your face. They love your face.”

Tom Petty, End of the Line?

  7. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Then again, maybe not: “LAPD apologizes for “inconvenience” of incorrectly reporting Tom Petty’s death.”

  14. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Bullit I don’t have an issue with the stat line related to the D yesterday.
What it amounts to, for me, is the fact that the Offense doesn’t give them a blow.

Granted, we have many holes to fill.

Overall, I thought Shanny called a good game yesterday on Offense as well.
Problem is, self inflicted wounds, like penalties and, of course, fundamental things, like catching a pass that hits you in the hands.
Can’t blame Kaep for a 90mph heater anymore.

Hoyer is beyond erratic at times but, when he does deliver a catchable ball for the most part and, it would help everyone concerned, O&D, to hold onto it when he does.

October 31 — All trading ends for 2017 at 4:00 p.m., New York time.
Who do we deal away and, for whom do we seek to acquire?

Seeing some speculation that Aaron Lynch could be a commodity to part with. Maybe Eli Harold??

  16. bullitNo Gravatar says:

If the Niner FO doesn’t think Hyde is worth extending I can see them trading him to the Vikes for a third round pick considering they lost Davin Cook yesterday to a torn ACL.

Whoever they trade you’re probably looking at day three picks.
For Armstead you’d be lucky to get a second round pick, more likely a third rounder.

  17. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

Hey NJ49er! Good to see you. All good here, there, too, I hope.

Looks like you’ve recommitted to the Niners by your avatar, but too much detail for these tired eyes to make out in your avatar shot.

Last year I was rooting for failure and this year I couldn’t care less if they win or lose. I’m hoping for their BLM / Hate-America masters to call for a strike and the young brainless ones get replaced by football players who play for the game again.

  18. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Yeh NoFear, all good here thankfully.
The forearm ink is tough to see in these allotted avatar fields.

Suffice to say, it was a 4-1/2hr commemorative to my 9er Fandom.
Too many years invested to let these distractions, and the Jedster, ruin the good memories I guess? In my blood as they say.
Be happy to forward a better view via Skeebs if he’s amenable to broker the email exchange.

    As for the sideline antics?
While a respect their right to protest, I don’t appreciate the platform given them by the media to put it on display.
I couldn’t get away with those sorts of things at my place employment, nor would I try.

Easy answer, for me anyway, treat them like you would a drunk who runs onto the field. Don’t televise it.
Put the camera on the Flag, and those in attendance, who practice the expected Respect for the many values it represents here in US of A.

I’m going to continue to tune in for my rooting interest in our team, while ignoring the distraction as best I can.

  19. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Bullit I’m not convinced Hyde, nor Reid, would warrant the 2nd Contracts either.
I would assume Lynch and Shanny would be more comfortable turning over the roster in their collective vision of the future anyway.
Take some extra Picks by the deadline and go from there.
I could even see a window here for Staley if the right offer came knocking.
Love him for his productivity and durability so, he wouldn’t be a guy I’d bail on for nothing.
Hyde to Minny would make sense.
As might Lynch to someone like NE, which I’ve read some speculation on already.
    Tic, toc. Trade Deadline approaches….

  20. winderNo Gravatar says:

Hey nofear, good to see you. From day one I thought the protest was done totally wrong and still do. There are so many other ways to get a message across. All it’s done in my eyes is divide the country in irreparable ways. But, that might have been the goal all along. Anyway, football isn’t the same for me either, not like it used to be that is. But to me this is a real exciting time to be a Niner fan. Teams like what the Niners are doing just might save the NFL from it’s own self-destrution. The NFL needs to do is find a way for efficient and reliable officiating.

  21. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

“With QB Marcus Mariota banged up, Titans planning to sign free agent QB Brandon Weeden.”

Hahaha. Here comes another round of PFT wailing and pimping for poor old Kaepernick.

  22. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

    Hey Winder! Back in Hawaii?

As Thomas Paine reminded us, “What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly…” Most of these idiots are convinced they’re victims.” Some have been privileged all their lives and some have come from nothing to being millionaires playing a game. Such a screwed up country! No wonder they trash it. Very few anymore have any idea what was sacrificed for it.

I got a kick out of that SOB Peters last night sitting defiantly while the anthem was played and immediately getting burned for a TD. I’ve got no use for the America haters in uniform but I blame the league and the owners and coaches more for their complete failure of leadership.

Yeah, the zebras are getting worse every year. This year it just adds to the foolishness. If they ever get back to playing football it could be a problem.

  23. ChucklesNo Gravatar says:

Right Skaaber. Because losing while white is better than winning while protesting. Let’s hear it for Tennessee! Keeping the world safe from Colin Kaepernick.

This country was built on protests, NoFear. Good to see that you didn’t really understand what you served for. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

And you completely don’t get the media’s role in this. The NFL will whore to anything. 5 years ago they didn’t show the anthem. 7 years ago, the players weren’t even on the field for it.

The military (using taxpayer money mind you) PAYS the NFL for these flyovers, parachute drops and ‘patriotic’ flag showings and such. Yippee! Hey, I like a cool flyover like anyone else, but not when it’s my tax money that pays for it.

Now, the NFL get pissed off puppets like you to dance and rage and get their skivvies in a wad at the protests like good little minions.

If we can’t win this one vs Brissett, it’s going to be a long way to the finish line.
I had this game circled as a Win when the schedule was released.
Only bright spot for me right now is the scene that should unfold when Frank gets 4yds and passes Dickerson.

Couldn’t happen for him at a better point in his long career.
    Doing it against his family.
    Love me some Frank.
Even if he isn’t wearing my colors anymore πŸ˜€

  35. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Huge sidelight to the game is the first time “the Inconvenient Truth” faces his old team.

Frank Gore wasnted to end his career and stay with the Niners but in the wisdom of Baalke he wouldn’t even talk to Frank about an extension letting one of the all time great Niners walk. Sadly that was the same year that Willis and Justin Smith retired and Baalke foolishly let Gore go leaving the team devoid of the core leadership on the team. Frank Gore did the little things that helped the offense flourish.

Frank might be grinding in the game but it always seemed he would make a big play in the 4th quarter that put the Niners in a position to win.

It will be hard to root against Gore wearing different colors just like it was hard to root against Joe as a Chef.

I hope they get another SB for your sake and all the long-suffering Niner fans.

  40. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Why does the NFL still have the archaic one game rule in shared markets? Niners are on the road against Colts. The only game being broadcast in the morning. Raiduhs at home against the Ravens. NO NFC game on FOX. They should show four games instead of 2. This is just like the blackout rule which they got rid of thankfully several years ago.

    COME ON MAN!!!

  41. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Another flame out in the RZ.

  42. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Nobody could guess these teams are two of the worst in the league.

  43. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Not to be outdone, Jets & Browns 3-0 at the half.

  44. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

I really needed Hyde to get a score today but it looks like they’ve given up on the running game from the gun.

Play calling from the “offensive genius” not all that impressive either. In fact it sucks like most of the o-line players.

  45. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

NoFear, are you still playing in Delmar’s FF league?

  46. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Looks like Bowman got benched in first half.

  47. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

No, I’m not playing in Dennis’ league any longer. He had too many “favorites,” like Chuck, who would not participate.

Some guys think that’s fun I guess but it skews the results so not my style.

Friends and family like competing so I’m still showing them how it’s done, except today.

  48. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Looks like Hyde is out of the game.

  49. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

With 5 carries for 10 yards I’m not sure he was ever in it.

Looks like the secondary figures Hilton will keep dropping passes on his own.

Seriously, they’re so afraid of the run they don’t cover deep?

Okay, now I see why. They can’t stop the run either.

  50. winderNo Gravatar says:

Well, we might not win this one but at least we fight until the end. We will get some better players next year and things will come together. It’s hard to watch at this point because all the mistakes and we really are not very good right now. We need a QB, RB and some Oline help.

  51. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

    0-5.

  52. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

    Look at the bright side….
    Nevermind.

It’s a race to the top of the Draft Order at this point.
Who’da thunk the NYG would be in the mix at this point?
    Cleveland? Sure
    NYJ? Sure
    This oughta get interesting.
    Trade Deadline looming too.
Tweak the roster a little further perhaps?

  53. bullitNo Gravatar says:

There is talk that Sam Darnold might stay for his Senior yearand might not enter the next draft.

If they have the #1 pick would you take Barkley the RB from Penn St.
Some say he’s the best RB to come along in 10 years.

Niners need OL help especially in the interior. Don’t think Kilgore is the answer at C.

  54. bullitNo Gravatar says:

There is much more fight with this team than the last 3 years.
Too many mistakes especially at crucial times.
Still the product is much more watchable than the zombie teams of the last 3 years.

  55. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Injury bug continues to haunt NY Giants.

  56. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

I’m not sold on a QB if we land in the Top 3 again Bullit.
If CJ isn’t ready/able by next year, buying Cousins would make a whole lotta sense to me, given his knowledge and familiarity with Shanny.

Barkley is probably not worth a Pick there either IMO but, the kid is lights out productive.

    I live in the trenches.
    Protect the QB.
    Sack the QB.

I could see Bowman, maybe Hyde, being dangled at the Trade Deadline right now too.

Way too early to speculate on the players in the College ranks, and where they might get slotted right now too.
    Give me BPA.
Be it DE/OLB, CB, DT, ILB etc.
OL could probably go later too? No clue what the College rankings are looking like right now.
Much research to complete as the creme rises to the top come Bowl time.

  57. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Shanny took the right approach with CJB IMO as well.
He Drafted a QB who played in a Pro-Style Offense in Iowa.
Too many College programs run gimmicky nonsense systems that don’t translate to the Pro game immediately.
If it were me, picking again in the Top 3, I’d try to parlay that into 2 1’s again.
Assuming we have a read on CJ and, a handle on whether Cousins might be in play as a FA.
Build a younger Defense if the strengths in the Draft lean that way.
We can assume Foster to be a good building block behind the young DL already under construction.
Need another Aldon Smith-type to compliment them perhaps, if there’s a stud coming along of course.

  58. winderNo Gravatar says:

At least I had some fun with this game. I don’t care about being 0-5. I am not worrying about this team I truly feel we are on the right track. QB, RB, Oline and next year we should be somewhat competitive. By year three no one will want to play us. Yes, I can see the future.

Now that it didn’t happen, I’d be hard pressed to suggest anything down the road is winnable.
Hoped for a split in the Division to give us 3 W’s.
If Shanny and the Offense can’t give the Defense a blow, it ain’t gonna look pretty the rest of the way.
Already showing some indifference to Bow and Hyde too.
    Trade Bait?
    I wonder…

Curious to see how they treat CJ going forward too.
Will they give him some reps within the ‘real’ games before the end of the month?
We already know how to lose close ones with Hoyer.
    Just say’n……

  62. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

“Some Niners” meaning twenty-some? It’s all Trump’s fault. And what did you expect the VP to do, condone pissing on the flag?

It’s just like the unprincipled haters of America to stop showboating just long enough to accuse someone else of showboating.

Maybe the Niners could win a football game if protesting the country where they live like kings wasn’t their big focus.

Everyone involved knew what was going on, including the pres, who directed the charade. Good to see you fall in line like a good little sheep. Who was the draft dodger? Trump? 71. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

Poor OBJ, he doesn’t get the same pass for pissing on the field as the other players get for pissing on the flag. Maybe the regs aren’t clear what is to be pissed on.

Poor Chuck, he thinks he’s doing his part to cry and complain like his teevee comedian heroes but he just pisses on himself, gets hysterical and reverts to spewing PC-sounding nonsense.
