Welcome to 49ers Outsider

This site will be covering life in general as it flows over and under the wings of the 49ers Flying Circus. Many sites cover the “inside” 49ers, but scant few provide any coverage of their fans – the “outsiders.”

Fans are, in their own way, as interesting as the team itself. They have an amazing talent for twisting, distorting, and completely butchering the bland baloney served up from the coaches and players news feeds and turning it into a boiling cauldron of fascinating stew. A few Bay Area professional scribes, such as Ratto, Cohn, and Kawakami, attempt to marinate the baloney with their own carefully crafted recipes, but nothing can match the not-of-this-world concoctions pulled out of the over-heated cranial ovens of our awesome 49er fans.

With the advent of the blogging age, many fans have made a name for themselves, albeit anonymously. They deserve recognition, and we intend to give it to them. And to hold them as accountable for their actions as they hold the team to its. Fair is fair. Should be lots of fun. And in that spirit, we will not be bogging down with a lot of boring facts and statistics (unless they support our opinions). No. No. Not
here. Here it will be sinister innuendo, hallucinatory assumptions, reckless flights of whimsy, and preposterous speculation that rule the day.

With the 2010 NFL Draft finally concluded, our bloggers will now hunker down to quarrel endlessly over who we did draft and who we didn’t, and the State of the Franchise will be argued passionately. The mud will fly until Training Camp opens near the end of July. We will be joining them in our next post.

Any way you slice it, the upcoming 2010 season is a monumental one for the 49ers and their fans. The team will either break through and become Super Bowl contenders and validate the rebuilding job done by the Nolan/McCloughan regime, now carried bravely forward by the new regime of Singletary/Baalke, or fail and incur the bellowing rage of the entire 49er fan base. Not a good thing. It could get ugly.

And we will be here to chronicle the spectacle, however it turns out. You are welcome to leave comments. Grunting and oinking are frowned on, although if Ninermd DOES decide to comment here, we probably won’t stop him.

NOTE:
We ask for your patience (ha ha ha) with the site design, which is still a work in progress. Feedback is welcome. The site currently features “Gravatars” (global pics) and not “Avatars” (localized pics). Haven’t figured out how to install the Avatar feature yet. Until this problem is corrected, you will either get a default user pic or you can go to “http://www.gravatar.com” and upload your avatar image for global internet use here and on other sites.
