On The Clock

Let the drumroll begin. Sometime after 5:00pm tonight, we’ll find out if Trent Baalke is going to brazenly trade up into the prime real estate of the first round of the draft, or be content to stay put with pick 31.

The 49ers don’t have enough ammo to trade up much higher than 12th or 13th in the draft, so the first two hours of whoop-d-doo can largely be ignored. Unless you are a Mel Kiper fan, in which case, my condolences on your illness.

To get up that high in the draft, Baalke would have to surrender his 34th pick at the top of round two, leaving us no viewing pleasure until all the way down through the rest of first round and all the way to the bottom of round two on the second day of the draft. That’s a lot of dead air.

The team has opted not to provide a live video feed of their draft room this year, further entrenching themselves in their Masonic like shroud of secrecy. Apparently, they don’t want any of us yokels to see them grimace if a guy they wanted gets drafted by someone else. This allegedly occurred last year when Seattle took Bruce Irvin. The 49ers denied their interest in Irvin and Baalke even claimed to have written AJ Jenkins down on a paper sealed in an envelope the night before.

Pretty thin skinned, boys, if you ask me. Ye gads. Lighten up and give us loyal and passionate fans a little taste of fun once in awhile. It wouldn’t kill you.

At least we’ll finally have some new players to absorb into our bloodstream. So far this offseason, we’ve seen a 36 year old partial wide receiver replaced with a 32 year old possession WR, a 38 year old kicker replaced by another 38er, two solid D-line guys swapped out for a first round bust D-guy, and a pro bowl free safety exchanged for a camp fodder FS. Not much to salivate over.

Baalke could really twist our heads tonight by trading our entire draft for picks next year and in 2015, but that’s probably pushing my sulk meter a bit over the line. We’ve got 13 picks, but nobody thinks we’ll actually draft 13 guys. The trade winds are blowing. Let’s find out what our mystery man GM has in store for us tonight.

Mayock just laid out a rumor that Baalke would trade up to take Eifert.
Personally I don’t see that much difference between Eifert and Ertz.
The perceived edge is Eifert is a better inline blocker.
Still I’m not convinced that Eifert is worth trading up for.
Two teams drafting before the Niners looking for TE are the Packers and Falcons so they could scoop the guy you want.
Just the usual chatter and don’t see this happening.

  2. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Eifert is a really good leaper which makes him better than Ertz in the Red Zone.

  3. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Berger

    You are correct.
Looked at their combine measurables and Eifert jumps 5 inches higher in the vertical leap and his arms are 2 inches longer so he would be more of a threat in the Red Zone.

  4. BergerNo Gravatar says:

bullit- You must be an accountant, engineer or IT guy. Or something like that. I think you once said you are an IT guy?

We came to the same conclusion but you used numbers to satisfy your mind and I just saw both play. I have not looked up anything on either. The basic difference between the two is Eifert is really good at catching thew ball in traffic, that is where he uses his leaping ability to his advantage, and Ertz is really good at finding open spaces in coverage. I would guess if you looked up some stats you would find Ertz has a better YPC average because of that one difference. They are both good TE prospects but IMO Eifert’s ability to make the catch in traffic puts him ahead of Ertz.

  5. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Actually I have not looked at any tape of Eifert because I always thought he would be overdrafted and gone by 31.
I still remember the last TE the Niners chose in the first round,
Ken MacAfee. That didn’t turn out so good.

  6. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

    You’re forgetting VD there.

  7. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I like Ertz because he can probably step inimmediately because he’s familiar with the offense.
    Here’s Eifert’s scouting report
    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1664437/tyler-eifert

    Ertz:
    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1664282/zach-ertz

I like the CBS site because they are pretty complete in their numbers and analysis

  8. bullitNo Gravatar says:

VD is 29 years old and his contract calls for $8.7 mil in 2013 and $7 mil each year for 2014 and 2015.
If Vernon slows down you have to have an option to leverage at least a pay cut. Just looking out for the future.
Harbaugh/Roman offense is TE centered so it makes sense to have talent at the position.

  9. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Jason Cole and Adam Schefter are reporting if Niners trade up Sheldon Richardson would be their target.

  10. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

“and a pro bowl free safety exchanged for a camp fodder FS.”
That fodder normally reserved to stuff scarecrows out in the field will be out on the field starting at safety Week 1. I need a drink.

  11. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Remember regrettably when the Niners wasted their first rounder on Druckenmiller? (sorry to bring up a bitter memory).
I recall the story of how he was strong as an ox and could lift up a car and pull a truck 50 yards. Unfortunately he was also dumbas an ox and couldn’t read a defense if his life depended on it.
Mooch should’ve known better then to fall for freakish feats of strength that is irrelevant to playing QB in the NFL.

  12. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

And like the good little 49er fan that I am, I will be rooting will all my heart that Dahl gets torched for 4 TDs by Aaron Rodgers so he never starts again. One and done.

  13. BergerNo Gravatar says:

bullit- When Druckenmiller was drafted my cousin-in-law flew from back east sitting next to him. He said he was very likable but not very bright.

It’s funny how present situations can make for bad decisions. Steve Young was a good QB who played poorly in bad weather. Most of us blamed it on him having small hands, me included. Drukenmiller had huge hands and many felt that was a big factor in taking him over Jake Plummer.

  14. BergerNo Gravatar says:

If we trade up I hope it is for Vaccaro or Richardson.

  15. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

If we move up and both Star and Richardson are available, who do we take? Maybe they’re targeting Craig Dahl’s half brother, Peter Dinklage from Westeros U. He could play atop Dahl’s shoulders and block kicks.

  16. BergerNo Gravatar says:

bullit- After reading those scouting reports I really like Ertz a lot. I can see us trading up for Vaccaro or Richardson and hoping Erts is there at 34. I have Richardson going to the Giants. If he gets that far I think we jump ahead of them and take him.

  17. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Del- Just my opinion, but I’d take Richardson because everything I’ve read says he is more consistent. I watched Star take USC apart, where was he in the other games? If he played like he did in the USC game all the time he would be a top 2 pick.

  18. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Dennis

    Winter is coming.
    The Imp has mad game.
Don’t mess with the Mother Of Dragons or you’ll get burned.

  19. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Berger

I didn’t read the fine print on Ertz’s scouting report. On the Stanford Pro Day he improved his vertical by 5 inches so he’s closing the gap.
I liked Fleener last year and I think Ertz might be better than Coby.

  20. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

If the Niners trade up for Tavon Austin I’m going to bitch slap King Joffrey in disgust. Little shit has it coming anyway.

  21. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Dennis

The actress that plays Shae, Sibel Kekilli used to be a porn actress.
Anyway Tavon Austin has announced that the Jest have a plan for him,
My answer: bot to draft him (rimshot!)

  22. bullitNo Gravatar says:

should read Not to draft him

  23. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

My gut feeling is, we’ll trade 31 and 34 for something around 12 (Miami?). Probably taking Richardson, or maybe Star if he falls, though Vaccaro is not impossible.

That will make 63 an important pick. If we take a DE-DT first, we need to try to get a safety in the second. If there is one with value there.

I expect us to use some of our later picks to move up in rounds 3 through 6. Probably finish the draft with about 8 good prospects.

  24. bullitNo Gravatar says:

If this happens Raiduhs are still in krazy mode.
Two weeks ago Hayden wasn’t even projected in the first round or a top 3 CB.
Picking him 3rd in the draft is a huge reach.
Has the ghost of Al come back to haunt Raiduh Nation?

  25. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Info on Raiduhs
“CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports “several executives” believe the Raiders will take Houston CB D.J. Hayden at No. 3 if they can’t trade back”

  26. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Spoiler alert!
KC Star has learned that the Chefs are picking Eric Fisher over Joeckel.
There is no reason for KC to take their full 10 mins if this is true.

  27. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

If the Raiders select Hayden at 3 Reggie McKenzie will get the Ned Stark treatment.

  28. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I am curious who is in contention to be the worst team in football next year.
You trade that team pick #34 for their #1 pick in 2014 because there is a player they have targeted and really like this year.
In 2014 the Niners have the first pick in the draft and are selecting Jadeveon Clowney.

  29. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Bullit, I reported that yesterday on Chuck’s blog. Lord Varys and I have our spies gathering just this kind of information.

  30. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Dennis

Can I call you Lord Baelish or Samwell Tarly?
Have you watched Strike Back on Cinemax? If not check it out
Now back to the NFL Draft

  31. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Bullit, I know this will sound strange, but out of all of the “Game of Thrones” characters, I’d like to be Khaleesi most of all. What she did in the last episode gave me chills. She is bad ass. And who wouldn’t love to have three fire-breathing dragons at your disposal? I’m rooting for her to eventually sit on the iron throne. And I hope one of her dragons swats away King Joffrey from that seat like Godzilla would to one of his enemies. “SWAPPT!!!” I can’t stand that little bastard.

  32. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

OK, here’s my Top 10 mock:

    1. Fisher
    2. Jordan
    3. Joeckel
    4. Johnson
    5. Ansah
    6. Floyd
    7. Cooper
    8. Austin
    9. Mingo
    10. Milliner

Let’s see how close I get. Final Niner prediction? Trade up and grab Richardson and then nab Swearinger in the 2nd rd. That’s my bias showing. That’s what I’m hoping to happen. Good luck!

  33. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Grump, I’m with ya there. I’m about 90 sure the Niners trade up in the 1st. Either the Jets or Miami, or, since re-undead Al is gone, the Niners work out a deal with the Raiders and jump to 3 to get Sharrif Floyd.
    .
    That would warm my heart.

  34. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Bummer, the Jets missed their chance to draft Geno to start over Mark Sanchez and Tim Terrific.
They still have #13. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

  35. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

There goes Richardson to the Jets, right where rumor had the Niners taking him.

  36. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Richardson is gone. Star is falling…

  37. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Drat, I’ll have to wait till morn to make fun of the Jets.
Actually, I’ll wait till the season starts. They will be plenty of opportunities.
That’s Doritos and green chile time.

  38. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

    There goes Vaccaro.

  39. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Star and Vaccaro. looks like we might be staying at 31 and 34, after all, then.

  40. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

There’s our new safety: Eric Reid.

  41. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Only gave up our first and a third to move up. We still have 34 and 63. Good trade for us, I’d say.

  42. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

I did not want to lose that pick at 34.

  43. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

It ain’t over till the fat nose tackle sings.
Niners will draft again in the 1st. You can bet my reputation with Nate Davis agin’ it.

  44. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Had to trade up for Reid or Rams would have gotten him.

  45. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

I’d go DE at 31, then NT at 63. Take a TE with the remaining third.

  46. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

34, not 31. I’m getting senile in my old age…

  47. BergerNo Gravatar says:

The pick does not get me excited but it was probably to keep him away from the Rams. I would have rather taken Floyd or Eifert. Reid was a guy I liked but not for a 1st and 3rd. We’ll see how it works out.

  48. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Absolutely positively a brutal trade UP for Eric Reid. There were so many players still on the board that would have been better selections.

Berger? My dear friend, if Baalke took Reid to to keep him away from the Rams, that’s instant grounds for dismissal. The worst part of this deal? You know it. Craig Dahl will still be starting at safety Week 1.
    Go Pack!

  49. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

I wish I had me some Dorthy ruby slippers right now that I could click three times and go home. Trading up for Reid is worse than having flying monkeys on your ass. “There’s no place like home.”

  50. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Sorry, that was the wrong YouTube link. At this point it really doesn’t matter.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooM-RGUTe2E
Hey, Berger! Is A.J. Jenkins still wide open? I’m going to get so plastered tonight it’s not even funny. If I die from alcohol poising I’d appreciate a kind word or two. Maybe repeat a good joke of mine. I know they’re far and few between, but I deliver you guys a good one every now and again. No flowers. Send your donations to your local animal shelter. They need your help more than I do.

  51. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Del- Be careful and sit on the floor.

  52. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I would have rather had Datone Jones. I’m thinking Baalke did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

  53. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I’m thinking we’ve got Ertz and Jesse Williams on our radar for tomorrow.

  54. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

We are going DL for sure tomorrow. No TE at this point.

  55. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Ertz, Williams,Damontre Moore or Carradine.
Cyprien is also still out there.
Reid is a decent pick and giving up a third to move up 13 spots
    was surprisingly cost effective.
If they want Ertz they have to take him at 34 because he’ll be gone at 63.
A slot corner becomes very necessary because now we have both Austin and Harvin to deal with twice every season.

  56. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    We have 3 picks tomorrow.
Reid brings it when he tackles.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msB2cYNL_o4
He plays Safety with some ferocity.

  57. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Berger, if we draft Jesse Williams tomorrow. Not only will I stay at a Holiday Inn Express, but I will hang myself with their clean white linen around my neck when I see both he and Reid stand at the podium surrounded by Baalke and Harbaugh. “But I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express…”

  58. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I think Williams is probably the safest pick tomorrow. Personally, I like Jonathon Hankins.

  59. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Tomorrow take Ertz, Okafor and Mathieu.
Mathieu for both his punt return ability and his cover skills as a slot corner.

  60. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Bullit, “Reid is a decent pick and giving up a third to move up 13 spots was surprisingly cost effective.”

Sorry. Even a “Company Man” such as yourself can’t espouse that kind of horseshit and not expect to get ridiculed in return. I’m going to swear like a sailor who’s been out to sea for two years who’s come home into port only to have the powers that be have a strangle-hold on prostitution that Craig Dahl is the Mastermind.

Repeat after me: Trent Baalke compounded the A.J. Jenkins mistake last year by moving up to select Reid this year.
Our defense, especially Week 1 is going to suck like there’s no tomorrow.

It’s so bad that I must transform into my cartoon mode. In order to continue life, Frank and I must make light and Merry Christmas. Here’s a riddle:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK-ej9-pxIY

  61. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

AND, since the day they signed that worthless POS Craig Dahl. I said from that day, and that day forward, their intention was to start Craig Dahl at safety. Shame on both of us. And now we drafted Eric Reid? Well blow me…down.

They were all there, just waiting to be plucked away…Star, Richardson and Brenda. But what did Baalke do? Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zip. That silver-haired devil up in Puget Sound must be laughing his ass off. Craig Dahl and Eric Reid will have the assignment of trying to cover Percy (Faith and his Orchestra) Harvin. Good luck with that shit. How could anyone not love this song? It’s impossible.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSsiS-v6_6M

  62. BergerNo Gravatar says:

The song famous for its triplets. Great song!

  63. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Dennis

    Feeling tortured like Theon Greyjoy?
Sorry to blow up your rant but Star, Richardson and Brenda were gone by pick 18. Need to whine about something else.
Like I said I think Reid is a solid choice.
Everyone makes a big deal about Harvin but in last year’s game against the Niners he had under
100 yards rec/rushing and didn’t score. In fact in Harvin’s 4 years in the NFL he has averaged about 75 yards a game and 7 TDs a season. Harvin has the POTENTIAL to be a threat but until he does it I just think of it as hype.

  64. BergerNo Gravatar says:

When we traded up I was hoping for a different pick. Floyd, Eifert or Datone Jones would have been better. I liked Cyprien better than Ried and I thought one of those two would be available at 31. We could have stood at 31 and filled the position. Obviously the 49ers thought much higher of Ried than I did. I just hope I’m the one who is wrong.

  65. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I’ve been telling Del for a couple of months the only QB I liked at the top of the draft is EJ Manuel. His problem is he can be too inaccurate at times but he has some intangibles that are huge assets. He is very smart and very athletic. I see him as a 2nd or 3rd round pick but expected him to go in the 1st because every team reaches for QBs. I think we do draft QB Jeff Tuel/Wash St in the 7th round if he is there. He has some potential and his college coach is on our staff.

  66. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Cross Tharold Simon CB LSU off your wish list just for being extremely stupid.
A probable Friday or Saturday pick he got himself arrested on Thursday.
There is no place on the Niner team for this degree of foolishness or Rolando McClain is his mentor.

  67. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Bullit, just please be brutally honest with me with your answer to my next question, and I’ll spare you from the “Walk of Punishment.” Tyrion named “Master of Coin?” If that don’t beat all. That has to be the greatest title of all-time. Dennis, just who the F do you think you are? I am Master of Coin. Get the F outta my way. OK, back to my Niner question…after we made our trade that built up even more anticipation. You can’t tell me you were not disappointed in the very least when the Commissioner read Eric Reid’s name at the podium. Admit it. You were dismayed and disappointed along with the rest of us with that selection.

  68. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Honestly I can say I wasn’t disappointed but felt relieved
they didn’t reach for Margus Hunt or Patterson.
I would’ve been OK with Datone Jones or Floyd and even Eifert but I hope they take Ertz at 34.
I think they did want Vaccaro but weren’t willing to give up more to jump the Aints.
Honestly I was only disaoointed they couldn’t get Vaccaro because he’s a Horn but that went out the window when Vaccaro was drafted.
On Jenkins just remember John Taylor didn’t do squat for his first 2 years and then he had an epiphany.
Gwendoline Christie who plays Brienne of Tarth is 6’3″ and she is actually quite the looker out of character. Check her out.

  69. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Boo hoo, Dennis. Not everyone shares your doomer outlook. In fricking APRIL. What a #%@$ing mook. Yer a mook to end all mooks.

  70. winderNo Gravatar says:

It’s funny how evaluators get to some of their perceived facts. Some say that Reid was surrounded by so much talent that it’s hard to say how good he really is, or can be. Well, he’s a pretty lucky guy since he will once again be surrounded by a very talented team. Personally, I think the kid will end up being a monster and an anchor in our backfield for a very long time. I’ve read mostly good things about the guy and with the right teaching I think we got ourselves a winner.

  71. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Who’s feeling like the bigger mook today, Geno Smith or Manti Te’o? Only the great seer, soothsayer, sage and former financial adviser to the Greek government, “Carnac the Magnificent” would know that answer. Speaking of Carnac…

“I hold in my hand this envelope. As a child of four can plainly see, this envelope has been hermetically sealed. It’s been kept in a Fancy Feast Cod, Sole & Shrimp can on Frank’s back porch since noon today. NO ONE! knows the contents of this envelope. But I, in my borderline divine and mystical way, will ascertain the answer having never before seen the question.”

The answers: Manti T’eo, Kim Jong-un and winning the Super Lotto.
Question: Name a mook, a gook and a once in a lifetime fluke.

  72. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Aaron Rodgers contract signs a new deal $24 mil year with $60 mil
    guaranteed.
Krazy time as that’s paying him $1.5 mil per game.
If the salary cap stays about the same you’re paying one player 1/5th of the total player payroll.
Sorry to say that’s obscenely unfair when 52 other players divide up the remaining $100 mil
    payroll.
It just keeps escalating as six weeks ago Flacco was the highest paid player at $20.1 mil. In six weeks it jumped $4 mil? Insanity!

  73. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Del- You are dissappointed with the pick, we understand. I’m even a little bummed, but at the least maybe you can root for the kid.

  74. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Rodgers deal is only for $22 mil a year.
This thing is like a pyramid where the salaries are escalating
exponentially. Next month Ryan and Stafford will be the new highest paid.
Bottom line the fans suffer because in the end we pay for it.

  75. bullitNo Gravatar says:

The Egos have the pick after the Niners and are making noise that they’ll pick Ertz.
Are they posturing to force the Niners into taking him or is this a smokescreen?
Jags say they trade pick 33 or take Cyprien or Johnathan Banks.

  76. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Berger, see Smith, Alex and Dennis’ reasoned response to his tenure here.
    .
Bullitt, if GB wins the SB, no one cares. Least of all their fans.

  77. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Burger buddy, I’m feeling exactly the same way I did last year when we drafted Jenkins. Hated that pick, but loved our next choice of LMJ. Hopefully we draft someone who will lift my spirits just like that Duck did. You know I love me some ducks. Mallards, Oregonian and even those in the shootin’ gallery. I just lifted my own spirits…vodka/iced tea with a lemon wedge. Cheers!

  78. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

    49ers get a 2014 third-round pick, a seventh-round pick and No. 40 in trade down with Tennessee.

  79. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

    There goes Ertz.

  80. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Skeebers, be honest. I’m on the phone w/ Berger and we both HATED that trade down to 40. What say you?

  81. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

It says to me the guy they want will still be there at 40. Basically, you either trust that they know what they’re doing or not.

  82. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Wonder if the Niners go after Keenan Allen.

  83. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

RT will be happy Geno Smith to the Jets.

  84. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Looks like Tank Carradine to Niners.

  85. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Like I just told Berger, this is exactly like last year’s draft…hated the first pick, loved the second.
    Go Tank!

  86. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

I’m laughing my ass off, Skeebs.
Have you counted the number of QBs on the Jets’ roster lately?
I think they should start a book club.

  87. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Not that any of you care much, but I’m feeling a whole helluva better after selecting Tank. I told Berger if it woulda been Jesse Williams (guy he wanted) I couldn’t stomach that shit. But I love me some Tank. Way to go Baalke. Seriously, how can you not love the guy. Is name is Tank. That’s another one of my many nicknames, Tank. I can neither confirm nor deny there’s a “Drunk” preceding Tank.

  88. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    I like Eric Reid.
Color coordinates to Scarlet and Gold and says a Safety is the last line of defense to the goal line and he was hoping to be picked by the Niners. Thank-you!

Niners just traded up with Green Bay and took Vance McDonald TE Rice
He’s not Ertz but best available TE

  91. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    McDonald scouting report
He improved his 40 time to 4.6
    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1695512/vance-mcdonald

  92. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Moving up cost the Niners a 6th round pick which is fine

  93. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I was not going to drink today but with the last pick things have changed. It’s vodka and cranberry. That’s a recipe for talking politics with unca later on!

I just read scouting report that he is slow and weak at initial contact when blocking. He plays mostly from the slot and drops one or two balls per game. So he is slow, weak and makes up for it by dropping passes. This reminds me the Jeff Chandler pick about 10 years ago. He didn’t kick long but made up for it by not being accurate.

    Where’s the ice?

  94. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Seattle just closed out round 2 taking Christine Michael from A&M.
I always thought it was funny that he has a girl’s name but insists it’s pronounced Christian.
    Just shorten it to Chris.
Must be a tough guy reminding you of a Boy named Sue.

  95. BergerNo Gravatar says:

This is rfrom the NFL.com website:

    McDonald-
Lacks strength on first contact. Majority of blocking took place in space, no inline, which could show in NFL. At least one drop or bobble per game, occurred even more often at the Senior Bowl. Most occur when he has to adjust or move off his stationary spot. Other times when the ball gets there quickly, unexpected targets. Would like to see him high point more frequently.

  96. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I’ll forever compare Ertz and Mcdonald.
Cards listen to Patrick Peterson and take the Honey Badger.
Niners don’t listen to Brent Jones.
Another 2 guys that have slid are Barkley and Nassib.
I have two guys in mind when the Niners pick. Either Alex Okafor DL Texas or Ryan Swope WR Tx A&M

  97. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Berger
    Jessie Williams is still undrafted
    as is Keenan Allen.
Allen has something that is driving his first round value way down.
Maybe your Azusa pacific guy will be around?

  98. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Allen ran a 3 toed sloth type of 40 yd dash. Speed matters at WR when you run as slow as he did. Apparently it does matter at TE for the 49ers.

  99. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I don’t care who we draft from here on out. Baalke is turning into Jerry Jones. I need more ice!

  100. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Oops, I meant to say apparently speed does not matter at TE for the 49ers. Can anybody believe we traded up for this boat anchor who can’t block?

  101. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I’ve come to realize the 49ers do not think the NT position is very important.

  102. BergerNo Gravatar says:

At this point I would take Jonathon Jenkins.

  103. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Patriots just took Jenkins. Our NT is 297 lbs and a #5 pick bust. Oh joy!

  104. BergerNo Gravatar says:

We are on the clock. Who cares I don’t.

  105. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Whoever we pick can go away with Slowey from last year.

  106. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

    DE-LB Corey Lemonier of Auburn.

  107. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Let me count our rookie starts from last year. Hmmm! I didn’t get one finger up. Outside from Reid, we won’t get one this year either. We just got a DE from Auburn. We are starting to look like a 4-3 team.

  108. BergerNo Gravatar says:

    From NFL.co on Lemonier:

Does not have a powerful build. Lacks great snap awareness. Looks to be stiff in the hips, and is not always flexible enough to bend the edge. Weak hands, doesn’t deliever a blow on contact with the offensive lineman. Better tackles get a push against him on drive-blocks due to that leggy build. Struggles to separate when an offensive lineman engages into his chest.

  109. BergerNo Gravatar says:

    I need more ice!

  110. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Lemonier will likely get a look as a third down OLB to spell Aldon and Brooks. Like a lot of guys we draft, he is a project – he’ll need to work hard to earn playing time.

  111. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Grumpy- You need some ice and tequilla. So far, this draft sucks.

  112. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Reno, you’re going to the Dennis side!
    Be patient, Jedi.

  113. BergerNo Gravatar says:

It’s so bad Dennis won’t even answer his phone. I need somebody to commiserate with.

  114. BergerNo Gravatar says:

rob likes this draft, I can’t talk to him.

  115. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

    I like the draft.
Defense and lots of it. Oooh, what’s my name? What’s that guy’s number?
    Commiserate with Dennis.
Not great or what I expected, but
    B+.

  116. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I’m at C- so far. I guess you like slow TEs that can’t block and drop passes?

  117. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

The TE is just a big body on the line.
Justin Smith is 33, Frank has gone far beyond my expectations
    There is a window.
Throw a pass deep middle against the Niners now.

  118. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Reid- Not a bad pick. Moving up 13 picks to get him, bad.

Tank- Not bad. We need beef on the D-line but we get a rotational pass rusher, not that we rotate our D-line so will he even play? See Jenkins, AJ.

McDonald- Slow TE who is not a good blocker and drops passes.

Auburn DE- 255lb DE. How many do we need? If we rotated our D-linemen I might get excited. We play our D-linemen until they need surgury and then play them some more. Then we blame the secondary for not being able to cover in the play-offs.

    I need more ice!

  119. BergerNo Gravatar says:

There is no Justin Smith replacement here. Not even close. We haven’t even drafted a player that closely resembles the position. We drafted two Elephants. They will compete with Aldon and Brooks.

  120. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

    Pass rusher bookend to Aldon.
TE? I do defer to Harbaush on that without any wine.
FS? He’s the QB of the D along with Pat (great name).

  121. BergerNo Gravatar says:

RT- You get excited for me. I’m a guy here that is usually too positive. Not today.

  122. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

    Reno, time for hay!
Don’t realy care until “the snow flies”.
Then guys who love football and love the comaderie and love winning will come out.
Those who love money and the women and the drugs will come out, too.
    I’m not freakin’ Nostradamus.

  123. BergerNo Gravatar says:

No, but this year you were the Fantasy Mavin!

  124. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

    You see how I won???
    Hahahahaha.
I think I won by 4 points total in 3 win or else games.
Bragging rights my ass. Donkeys bray.
    The Roadrunners are silent.

  125. BergerNo Gravatar says:

BTW, since you dissapeared after the champeenship game, congratulations for winning the title.

  126. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

    Thanks, Reno.
Wow, My 5-7 team is now the Niner Insider Champ and I have bragging rights for the offseason!
Seriously, Reno, the Roadrunners and I are going to bed.
    Having more fun these days.

  127. BergerNo Gravatar says:

If that is your back yard I will come see you one day! That looks similar to my back yard. Yours is even more open than mine!

  128. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

That was exactly like the open land behind my friends’ houses where I used to walk.
Lots of rattlers. Speak sofely and carry a big stick.
Hit hard when you do and don’t miss. I like Eric Reid already.

  129. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Eric Reid = Taylor Mays. The difference, Reid is much smarter but slower. I give Reid a chance to succeed but think Cyprien will be better. Moving up for Reid was a huge reach. I hope to say how wrong I am in 9 months from now. We’ll see.

  130. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Bergs, keep drinking. The trend in the NFL is speed speed speed. Teams are getting faster, not bigger. The Niners are drafting fast defenders for one reason. Russell Wilson. They got a hitter in the defensive backfield for much the same reason. Slow down Seattle’s run game.
    .
The Niners have determined that the Seahawks are their biggest threat in the NFL. So they are doing what they think is necessary to beat them. Bring the speed.

  131. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Just have to hope Baalke saw stuff in film that we did not see, Reno.

I don’t think Reid will be a bust like Mays. He should be solid, actually, but chances of truly special are limited.

Tank will be a good player for us I think.

The third rounders are projects. Guys who might not ever contribute much, or might turn out to be high payoffs. Presumably Harbaugh’s staff will have drafted them intending to use them to their best advantage.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Lattimore is still on the board. Philip Thomas of Stanford. A few DL guys of note. Most will go in the 4th round but we might get one more interesting pick before it’s all guys we know little about.

  132. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Frankly, I think Baalke has done pretty well. I thought Cyprien was the guy to get, but like you said, we’ll see. Kinda like the Ronnoie Lott/Kenny Easley debate back in 81.
    .
Tank is a good addition. Lemonier? He’s a situational pass rusher. The TE? Ehhhh. He’s a blocker, nothing more.
    .
They must have some confidence in Tommy Dorsey and Ian Williams to fill the gaps. But I do see a little beef coming tomorrow.

  133. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I hope you guys are right and I am just panicking. Time will tell.

PS- I’ve never known unca to be right! Good night!

  134. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Here’s the rest of what NFL.com said about Vance McDonald:

“Used all over the formation but mainly as a slot receiver. Smooth athlete, comfortable in space for someone his size. Engages with good hand placement when blocking, uses body to shield off running lane. Very long arms, flashes using them to his advantage when run blocking. Sticks to the latch even if jolted on first contact. Flashes driving smaller defenders to the ground. Fluid mover after the catch, natural with the ball in his hands, reads upfield blocks and cuts off of them. Plenty of receiver screens, shows patience and strength to finish off runs. Snap-to-whistle player, known to make multiple blocks on the same play. Comfortable with bucket catches. Quickly turns upfield and makes the most of each play. Can make contested catches. Hands catcher away from his body.

BOTTOM LINE Despite being built like an inline tight end, the majority of McDonald’s experience is in the slot. This certainly helps his comfort blocking on the edge and as a receiver who picks up yards after the catch. In fact, McDonald is still learning how to use his frame effectively. Teams could view the Rice product as an inline prospect or as a Joker mismatch, but either way McDonald should be selected on the second day.”

  135. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Bruce Miller was converted from a DE to FB/Hback in a relatively short time.
Seems like some are really gripping about finding Delanie Walker’s replacement at TE.
Walker played for the Niners for 7 years and averaged 1.2 receptions a game and 14.8 yds per game. In 7 seasons he scored a total of 8 TDs which amounts to 1 TD a year and a bonus of 1 in his best year. (actually he scored 3 TDs in his last 2 years).
Walker’s value to the team was his blocking and his special teams play.
I always thought Walker was more productive than his stats indicate.
McDonald will be fine with some excellent coaching as the 2nd TE.

  136. bullitNo Gravatar says:

As for the NT position Dorsey, Ian Williams and Jerod-Eddie are on the squad.
After the minicamp if Harbaugh/Fangio finds it troublesome they can always look to guys like Richard Seymour and Casy Hampton for short term fix
    and who remain free agents.
I believe the FO knows what they’re doing.

  137. BergerNo Gravatar says:

BTW- I was talking when I said I’ve never known unca to be right I was talking about his political proclivities!

  138. BergerNo Gravatar says:

bullit- I hope so because we moved up to get McDonald. Basically, we bought the farm!

  139. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

If you lined up all of the Jets’ QBs end-to-end, would a tree fall in the forest?
A little Zen for Saturday morning.
Actually, the Jets could use some Zen. George Zen, Alfred Zen, Howard Zen…
They’re right up the road and could do a better job with player personnel than the Jets.

  140. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

    BARKLEY GOT DRAFTED!!

  141. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

I was hoping the Jets would get him.

  142. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Joe picked the wrong time and place to say it, but I echo him:
“Suzy, I want to kiss you.”
Nobody on here, and the Niners not up for another hour or so, so it’s playtime on Skeebs’ blog (just kidding, Skeebers).

  143. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

RB Jonathan Franklin (UCLA) to the Packers. There’s another guy Craig Dahl won’t be covering or tackling Week 1.

  144. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

But Dahl will make up for that by being out of place and painstakingly requiring forever to get where he needs to be because of his speed. Lack thereof.

  145. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

I told Berger our next pk would be a WR. Quinton Patton from Lou. Tech. His nickname has to either be “General” or “Oswalt.” Hopefully it’s the former.

  146. bullitNo Gravatar says:

The pick that will define this draft has been made. Marcus Lattimore is a San Francisco 49er!
    Yessssssssssssss!!!!

  147. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Who’s Got It Better Than Us?
    NOBODY!!!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKGQr0VhtSg

  148. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Seattle took Jesse Williams. Marcus Lattimore is going to run right over/through and around that worthless POS for the next 10 years. That is if the Seahawks don’t cut him after year one.

  149. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

I wanted the Fat Guy in the Middle, but I can only guess the Niners want speed and athleticism on their hybrid 3-4/4-3/other D, and plan on relying on the backers.
Good pick by Seattle methinks. I hope I’m wrong.

  150. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Lattimore wears 21 just like Frank Gore. Coincidence?
Frank is the perfect mentor for ML.
Marcus can take 2 years to rehab and get back to 100% and start when Gore is ready to hang it up and start the clock for the HOF.
The perfect theme song for Marcus Lattimore

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p_JxDGVqXg

  151. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

I have to needle by buddy Berger a little. He wanted Jesse Williams in the first round. FIRST round. And now Jesse is finally off the board in Rd 4 at pk 137 overall. He wanted Jesse in the first round. I didn’t wish for Jesse in the first, second, third, fourth or any round for that matter. Who know who I wished for? I wish that I had “Jess(i)e’s Girl.” Where can I find a woman like that?

  152. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Dennis

    Patton’s nickname is “The General”.
Just read a scouting report comparing his style of play to Reggie Wayne.
This pick puts the heat on AJ.
I am also anxious to see how Lockette has progressed.

  153. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Of the first 99 players drafted, exactly 1/3, that’s 33 for those of you who are mathematically challenged, were from the SEC. That’s not a NCAA conference it’s a semi-pro (horrible Will Ferrell movie) league.

  154. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

The Niners ’89 team bit compared to the ’84 team. Ever see the Rams game, where the Rams’ players spent the last 10 minutes figuring out how to give the game away? Why do you think the Lambs left LA? I would, too, if I were a part of that.
    Oopsie, wrong thread.

This sure is a lot more fun than 5-10 years ago wondering who the hell the Niners were going to get at QB, C, LT, RT, LG, RG, …
I think my finger broke trying to type the rest.

I’ll take this with a glass of whine, thank you (I don’t drink wine). But pass the Camembert.

  155. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Is his nickname really “The General?” I’ll be damned. It is The General. I was just joking around as usual. That’s going to disappoint all the Patton Oswalt fans. He’s more likely to have an ice cream named after him anyway.

  156. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Quinton Dial should replace RJF as a flex reserve on the D-line.

  157. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

More likely to replace Ian Williams as the fat guy in street clothes on game days.

  158. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Del you are so full of shit. Are you sure you are not Spitty in disguise? I never said I wanted Williams in the first round. You must be smoking crack.

Sans a trade I was looking at Reid, Cyprien, Hankins, Datone Jones, Eifert, Ertz and Banks.

I always said I liked Williams but not with our first pick.

  159. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Check out Skeebers with a classic Henny Youngman one-liner.

  160. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I tuned into many Alabama games to watch Jesse Williams. Dial always stood out instead. I like this pick.

  161. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Quinton Patton caught 21 passes for 233 yards and 4 TDs against Texas A&M. LA Tech lost 59-57
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L7b6gLISgU

  162. BergerNo Gravatar says:

The Bills just took my kicker:-(

  163. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

I don’t want to be the guy Jimbo focuses his eyes on.
Uruguay might be far enough to get away from that stare.
Guy reminds me of what I’ve seen of Vince Lombardi. Completely different style, personality from Bill.
I just have this feeling he has a chip shot field goal chip on his shoulder.
    Great season ahead!
Time to get into New Mexico until rookie camp starts and we can start up on that.

  164. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Patrick Willis is pretty good in those new Visa Signature commercials. He’s 10x the actor than Aaron Rodgers. So is a bar stool. But I still like Willis in those spots.

  165. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

These 7th round picks have me on the edge of my seat.

  166. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

    Drooling.

  167. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I have never heard of any of our 3 7th round picks. When Niners draft BJ Daniels QB instead of Matt Scott what does that say about Scott?
BJ is just under 6ft tall and might be brought into training camp to simulate Russell Wilson.
    Da’rick Rogers went undrafted.

  168. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

I’m seriously bummed that the Niners didn’t draft:
I know she’s 60 now, but I bet she can still play.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGU_4-5RaxU
Heart of Glass – how many picks fit in that category?
The Niners draft room has improved since the Jed/Baalke/Maraathe/intern days.
Give me a $1 billion and I’ll improve, too.
Still, if she can’t make the club, she is always welcome.

  169. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

British discus thrower Lawrence Okoye has signed as UDFA.

  170. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Interesting athelete, Lawrence Okoye.
He only started throwing the discus less than 2 years ago and made the Olympics ranking 4th in the world.
I don’t think you could keep him on the practice squad because somebody like Petey would try to steal him.
In a couple of years he could be a factor and he’s only 21.
    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/2056842/lawrence-okoye

  171. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Per Barrows
“The 49ers also signed 6-8 offensive tackle Luke Marquardt, who played at Azusa Pacific, according to a league source.”
The 2 wild cards of the draft were signed as Free Agents.

  172. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Teams are jumping on the undrafted
    players.
Matt Scott signed with the Jags as did Jordan Rodgers QB.
Jeff Tuel QB and Da’rick Rogers WR signed with the Bills.
Collin Klein to the Texans and SJ St TE Ryan Otten also to the Jags.

The motto is every rook’s mind and tongue coming in to camp.
    Who will make it?
Me, I’ll be putzing around in NM, let the pupsters sweat for a change.
It’s New Mexico coming till summer. You breathe, you sweat.

  174. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Well we drafted a DB, Cooper. Hopefully his career will last longer than D.B. Cooper.

  175. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Ok, let’s get my opinion straight for once and ever.
Until the whistle blows, no one on here, Chuck’s blog, or anyone else can predict a game with an oblong ball.
But we try. It’s great; we could be Carolina or Jacksonville fans.
Or the Jets (I’m thinking shoes here).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLzu1LXhuBk
    Nite all. Minicamp starts when?

  176. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

    I give our Draft a B+/A-
We addressed needs and got bigger.
    Vance McDonald is a brawler.
    Great hands and shouldn’t disappoint.
Lattimore will have all the time he needs to rehab now, along with a terrific mentor in Frank.

Love Lemonier and Tank, as well.
Disappointed that I didn’t get Jamie Collings however.
Lemonier was my #2 option so, can’t be too upset.
Quinton Patton is a gamer too.

  177. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Per Barrows 4 more free agents signed
“TE-HB Marqueis Gray, Minnesota (played QB at Minnesota)
    G Patrick Omameh, Michigan.
    LS Kevin McDermott, UCLA (Scout.com)
    OL Sherman Carter, Tennessee State”

  178. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

OLB Jamie Collins that is, just spotted my typo-
Kid looks like a good one.

  179. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

We apparently nabbed UDFA OT Luke Marquardt from Asuza-Pacific too.
    Nice move IMO.
    Huge kid with TE experience.
    Hope he works out.
The Olympian from Gr.Brittain Lawrence Okoye signed too.
See what Tomsula can do with him.
Also being reported that WR Chuck Jacobs from Utah St is onboard also.

  180. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Another guy that went undrafted was Chase Thomas LB Stanford
Some projected him to be as high as 3rd rounder but most likely a 5th rounder.
Thomas has indicated he’ll sign with the Aints or the Pack.

  181. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    More Lattimore

    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:9219196

A smart humble guy and a team player who’s determined. I think he’ll make it back but Gore’s not done and I see Frank playing for at least 2 more years.
Gore has been around too long not to help open the new stadium and gain the first yards there for the Niners.

  182. barleyfreakNo Gravatar says:

Hey Skeebers, there are “first round bust guys” and then there are first round BUST guys. I see Dorsey as a solid player who has not been worthy of his first round placement. Still a contributing NFL player though.

Kentwan Balmer on the other hand…meh.

  183. barleyfreakNo Gravatar says:

I like this draft — so says my gut. Love the Tank pick. Love the Lattimore pick along with the depth in front to wait, heal and see. Vance looks solid. And glad they got someone in Patton to potentially be what Jenkins wasn’t. I still (gut) think last year’s draft will be remembered for James, and little else.

Don’t know much about the rest, other than they went for positions. I am surprised they used 11 picks. I suspect that once through Rd 4 there were less takers and less options with the late rounders to turn them into something, especially w/o being able to move the comp picks. 11 picks. My guess is that only 7 or 8 stick though. If more do, that bodes well for the future since they’d be beating out vets.

  184. FranchiseNo Gravatar says:

Thanks for the YT embeds gents. Was Diana Krall a FA pickup? Need to check the waiver wire on that one.

It’s 3 days after the draft, and I’m still ticked that Rex stole that dancing grizzly from Mizzou. Thanks to the Rams, they nabbed the pinball from WV, which inevitably caused the ripple effect and pilfer of Sheldon. I threw my draftboard post-it note across the room when it happened.

Now we get the pleasure of facing Tavon twice a year. Carlos better eat his Wheaties.

As for Reid.. while Sheldon could be the second coming of Warren Sapp, at best Reid will be the revival of Tim McDonald. That doesn’t get me excited with a trade up value for the 18th overall pick. But time will tell.

Love the Vance McDonald pick. Comes out of his breaks with bad intentions. And like Baalke, I just like the cut of his jib.

And does anyone else notice how Jimbo doesn’t just scout the players, but also their mothers? It’s all about family at 4949 Centennial.

Bleacher Report has us taking RB/D’Athony Thomas with the 30th pick in the 2014 NFL dsraft. Walter Football has taking CB/Deshazor Everett also with the 30th pick.

Berger is already eying Luis Nix!

  186. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

30th pick next year? That means we lose in the NFC Championship
Game. Screw that. I’d rather finish 6-10 and miss the playoffs entirely. My nerves can’t take any more “close but no cigar” years. Either win the damn Super Bowl next year or tank it and draft Clowney.

Some day before I croak, I have to patent this.

Nate keeps his shit straight and he could a fine 2nd or 3rd QB.
Maybe one day he’ll get his shot.
Patience is tough when your Daddy is the best ever.
But here’s one fan. Straighten up and fly right, and you could be good, maybe really good.
I have to reread your father’s book over and over again to learn what you knew in the crib.
Relax, breathe deeply and think of John Candy, and:
    GO FOR IT!

  189. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

My odds of Nate getting invited to camp?
1 in 5. Good thing I’m not a betting man; I’ll leave that to the Dennis and his nags.
But, hope springs eternal in the human breast.

Nate Montana would be a camp arm. nothing more.
He only shares his Dad’s name not even a sliver of the talent.
He went to West Virginia Wesleyan
for college and barely completed 50% of his passes there. That was after failing at 2 or 3 other programs.
If you watch the vidro he says his strongest asset is he watches film ansd is a student of the game.
The best thing Baalke can do for him is tell him to get a degree and a real job. Pro football isn’t for everyone and it would piss me off if someone with real talent was denied an opportunity
because Joe’s son needed the spot.

Joe almost never made the team in Notre Dame.
    You never know.
    Dennis can bet; not me.

Nate would be hard-pressed to make the CFL. He could make the arena league.
    .
If he’s a student of the game, he can coach.

Reports have OLB Chase Thomas going to NO.
I’m hoping we make an effort to get K Zach Brown (Ramirez)

  194. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Warren Moon Won the Grey Cup in the CFL.
So did Joe Kapp, but he was a white guy with half Warren’s talent.
I think Doug Flutie played there, too.
Nate will have to work his way up to the bigs (Nate I and Nate II), but I’d take either one of those two guys, right now.
    Ask Carolna or Jacksonville.
(Not New York? I love circuses, but)

  195. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

The NYJ are adding new wrinkles to the Read Option.
By having a 6-Pack at QB they’ll try to confuse the pass rush motioning often and playing trickeration in the backfield.
No truth to the rumors that Ronald McDonald shoes and face paint will be implemented since names and numbers will be on the jerseys.
Giving every clowns’ identity in the backfield away.

Just like media coverage in Dallas, we all wait anxiously for the next big move to occur.
    Will Sanchez be ther starter?
Will Romo ever win another Playoff game?
    God!
    The suspense is killing me.
6 Card QB Monte in NY.
Romo working 13 hour days and giving up golf in Dallas?
Jerruh signing a 4th Rd OC to 1st Rd money.
I’m thinking we all should expect a NYJ/Cowboy SB this Season.

    Sanchize vs. Promo

    Will anyone attend?
    They deserve each other.

    Dueling GMs.
    Idzik vs. Dipschtik.
    Clown Cars and Luxury buses.
    Entertainment at every step.
    Broadway Joe.
    Dallas Douchenozzle.

    2 Teams.
    No running game.
    Throwing through the snow.

Dee Milliner drops a sure Pick 6.
Tight battle, severe conditions, stands full of NYJ fans, all drunk and disorderly.
A double overtime, 12 turnover debacle, decided on a Safety when, Geno steps on the backline because the snow obscured the boundary.
    Dallas wins 2-0.
