Waiting for Godot

Like most of you, I’m sitting here watching to see how this whole thing plays out. The various sports entities are plunging ahead like they are sure there will be a new season, while the various medical entities are doubting any sports will  happen the rest of the year, at the very least.

While those two big wig operations are forging ahead, the players are grumbling about all of it. Some will be opting out of the season, the NFLPA will try to muscle into the decision making process, and the fans will end up taking what we can get.

So far, thirty-one major league baseball guys have opted out of playing this season. Don’t know if any NFL types will take that route. A few maybe, but not many, I would think.

Training Camps are set to open in about three weeks. Which would normally get our juices flowing a bit. But we may have to wait until the camps actually happen for any of  us to turn that spigot on.

God’s involvement with humanity is always a lively topic of debate between the believers  and the non-believers, but even a believer has to question His motives for continuing to reward Bill Belichick when it’s clear to any reasonably intelligent soul that this guy is undeserving of any breaks in life. And yet, there’s Cam Newton falling into Belichick’s lap like a gift from heaven. This is very depressing. I was looking forward to the coming season just to watch the Patriots go back to being a mediocre franchise, kicked around by just about any team on any  given Sunday.

Sigh. I may have to re-evaluate my theological indifference this year. Some things should never be allowed to happen in a fair and just universe.

This is not a political statement.

There are too many idiots/morons out there that think there is no virus or they are invincible that is prolonging this and making it worse.

I suppose 130K people dying and counting is a hoax.

The “girls just gotta have fun” and the 15% practicing it is hurting the efforts of the 85% that are complying.

Ronnie Lott has high praise for Shanahan.
I would settle for him to compare Kyle to Kyle’s dad Mike.

And the injury beat goes on

DB DJ Reed tore his pectoral muscle in a workout.

Mahomes is finalizing a deal for 10 years $400 mil that lasts through the 2031 season. Very little details so far as the bonus , up front money and structure of the contract.

    Details will follow.

Insane. Projections of salary cap problems. Contract blows away Russell Wilson’s.

Bullit there is a vast divide related to politics and reality.
It stems from the reality that our Commander-in-Chief is a Draft dodger.
How can Democracy function when the WH is averse to the Constitution?
    We are a Banana Republic.
    The World laughs at us.

Not a word from Dear Leader related to the bounty reports from Russia.
    Blame the media.
Fact is, Russia is in control.
Our Commander-in-Chief is asleep at the switch.

This sums it all up and you can’t make this shit up. There must be some awfully dumb people on his campaign staff.

Very sad that without leadership the country is just drifting and we are in football purgatory as both baseball and basketball are having trouble launching.

Raheem Mostert requests a trade. What should Lynch say. Plays lights out til the trade deadline first?

  10. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Mostert was part of a 3 man rotation with about 15 touches a game.
He had a good year and is in the second year of a 3 year contract which he is getting $2.5mil.
Shanahan gave him a chance and he made the most of it but the team shouldn’t give him a new deal based on 1 year. He needs to equal or better last year to talk anout a new deal. His trade value might net a 4th round pick at best.

It’s about the team, not a collection of individuals.

If RM and his agent don’t understand that… this can be remedied.

If someone did this to Walsh, they’d be on a flight to Buffalo or just find their shit in a box on the front steps in Redwood City the next morning.

No one is more important than the team.

  12. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

I doubt he gets much sympathy. He was a vagabond ST player until Shanahan turned his career around and then signed him to a three year deal. Now one year later he pulls a prima donna scene.

    Redskins no more.

My choice for a new name which is not even being considered is Washington Sentinels.

Defihition: a soldier or guard whose job is to stand and keep watch.

    That’s my 2 cents

I was in a FF league the other day and there was a team called the Washington Watermelons. I thought that kinda hit home.

The pandemic seems to be getting worse with more people dying and increases in 41 states.

What is the leader of the republic doing to battle the virus?

Lack of leadership and the national ship is just drifting.
Hard to be optimistic about upcoming season when Pasadena just cancelled the Rose Parade.

Season opener against Cards is 8 weeks away.

    Players report 7/28.

Big question, will we get there?

  17. BakkentomNo Gravatar says:

100% yes. Coronavirus political and overblown. Get the full season going. If stadiums fanless then so be it.

Too much money in the game. Gotta have my fix.
