This is the earliest BYE week the 49ers have ever had. Kind of early for a nap, IMHO. I normally push myself through a pot of coffee and five hours before taking my first nap of the day.

The team is at 3-0 and they should be. They’ve played three stiffs. When the season began, the Steelers looked like a tough draw, but by the time they arrived in the Bay Area, they were well on their way to a losing season.

The next part of the schedule is mostly cushy, also. Aside from a road game against the Rams, the other four teams on the October slate are all beatable – Browns, Washington, Carolina, and the Cardinals. If the team isn’t a fleeting illusion, they should be 7-1 or 6-2 by the time November arrives. And they’d better be, since the schedule gets tougher the last two months.

As usual, even only three games into the year, key injuries are once again impacting the Niners’ prospects. It seems like the good teams get injuries and a guy is out a week or two. With the 49ers, it’s always a month or more.

As expected, the secondary is the weak link on the team. They haven’t faced any top tier QBs yet, but the last two months they’ll see a steady diet of them. Ahkello Witherspoon is out for a month and FS Tarvarius Moore isn’t ready for prime time yet. Jimmie Ward should be back after the BYE, but counting on him to get through the season without another injury is wishful thinking.

Still, after the past four years of embarrassing and painful ineptitude, 3-0 feels pretty refreshing. I guess we can enjoy it for at least another week.

Looks like Lynch chose wisely in the draft, following are rookies drafted this year

    Per PFF

Adding overall pass-rush win rates, as well, to account for quick pass-rush wins (most valuable) but also quick game, screens, etc.

    – Nick Bosa (23.5%)
    – Josh Allen (18.6%)
    – Brian Burns (17.9%)

    – Clelin Ferrell (6.3%)
    – Montez Sweat (5.9%)

NFL average is 12% (Min. 40 snaps)

Two sundays in a row without a Niners game.
Today Browns vs Ravens should be of interest. We could be facing a Browns team that could fall to 1-3 when we meet them next Monday Night.
Browns were anointed the surprise team of this season.

Defensive Coordinators have figured out Mayfield has a tendency to bail right when pressured cutting his options in half. This was a tendency of Jamarcus Russell and Kaepernick.

    And Alex Smith

Browns beat Ravens but right now in a strange game Bucs lead Rams 21-0 late in 2nd quarter.
Gurley just scored so it’s 21-7 Bucs.

And Alex Smith and 90% of the right handed QBs in the league, Bullitt.

    38-20 Bucs.

Rams have to go to Seattle this Thurs on a short week.

Bucs blitzed the hell out of Goff and he took a lot of hits as he passed 68 times.
