Thumb Twiddling

Looks like we’ll be getting a 17 game season in a year or two, with an extra wild card team in each conference. And only the top seeded team in each conference will get a BYE week in the playoffs.

Had this been in effect this past year, three teams from the NFC West would have made the playoffs. For the future, it practically assures the 49ers that they will be visiting the postseason on an annual basis. Barring a Jed York unwarranted intrusion. He’s still out there, capable of screwing things up at a moment’s notice.

Kyle Shanahan took some heat for his coaching in the Super Bowl, but what about Sean Payton? He’s had Drew Brees for 12+ years and only won a single SB, in 2009. Since then, his teams have become famous for finding ways to honk out in the playoffs – twice at the hands of the Vikings.

A lot of outrage in baseball over the Astros cheating their way to a World Series title. Their manager and GM were both fired, but the title remained. Bill Belichick cheated his way to three titles and only got a fine. Why wasn’t he fired or at least suspended for a year, like Payton was for Bountygate?

And people wonder about East Coast bias. The best thing about the SB this year was that nobody from the East was involved. I’m sure the league will find a way to rectify this horror next year.

As you can see, I’m just killing time here. Babbling away about nothing. Waiting for the offseason dominoes to start falling. Nurturing my outrage and withering sarcasm in preparation for whatever decisions or actions might soon occur. Blogging man in the weight room, getting the brain cells ripped and ready.

yeah, it’s pretty tough to get excited about anything Niners at the moment. But, your babbling is somewhat entertaining.

Gotta do the curls, squats, bench presses, etc in babble world.

Showtime will be here shortly. I just hope FO takes the 10 year plan to stay on top. Don’t overdo pricey FA’s. Injuries can burst that balloon and dump us back to mediocre really quick.

    Bullit, post Combine takeaways.
If forced to use Pick 31, it would be hard for me to pass on…
    WR Denzel Mims
    FS Kyle Dugger

Having no clue how they Grade out, I think either guy would be an asset.
Be great if Lynch could swing some extra Draft capital with the Pick of course.

Totally impressed with Mizzou TE Albert Okwuegbunam (6’5″/258) (4.49)
Kinda hoped he’d fly under the radar when I did his stats.
Running a 4.49 at his size will rocket him up most Boards now I’d assume.

Still like Tee Higgins but, he didn’t run in Indy, so I’m not sure how to stack him up with Mims.

This will be my final list on the WRs –

Baylor WR Denzel Mims (6’3″/207) (4.38)
    Clemson WR Tee Higgins (6’4″/216)
ND WR Chase Claypool (6’4″/238) (4.42)
WA St WR Dezmon Patmon (6’4″/225) (4.48)
UCF WR Gabriel Davis (6’2″/216) (4.54)
    Liberty WR Antonio Gandy-Golden (6’4″/223) (4.60)

Also have a backup option to Dugger, SS from So Illinois, Jeremy Chinn had good showings in Mobile and Indy.

    SIU S Jeremy Chinn (6’3″/221) (4.45)

Probably gonna consider this my final Draft list for the Safeties –

    Lenoir-Rhyne FS Kyle Dugger (6’1″/217) (4.49)
Cal FS Ashtyn Davis (6’1″/202) (4.39)
    SIU S Jeremy Chinn (6’3″/221) (4.45)
    Clemson S Tanner Muse (6’2″/227) (4.41)
CO LB (SS) Davion Taylor (6’1″/228) (4.49)
    Cal SS Jaylinn Hawkins (6’1″/208)

Read that Chinn’s Uncle is Steve Atwater.
Bet the house that Denver is aware of him.

Chinn and Dugger might be better athletes than the better known guys like Delpit and McKinney too.

These are the kind of ‘Tweener’ guys that we need to chase down the Wilson’s and Murray’s in the NFCW.

Niners were giving a hard look at Colorado WR Lavisaka Shenault before he got hurt.

Justin Jefferson LSU is the WR I would take if he was there at 31. Philly is looking at him 10 picks earlier. So if he’s there that would b e my pick.

If they trade down then Mims would be a solid pick in 2nd round and DuVernay would be in 3rd.

If Lynch wants to be bold then take a chance on Chase Claypool who would be a matchup nightmare.(or is Jalen Hurd that guy on the roster?) Claypool and Kittle as bookends would be lethal.

Niners made some moves today nothing unexpected

“The San Francisco 49ers announced on Thursday they have tendered one-year contracts to exclusive rights free agents OL Daniel Brunskill, TE Ross Dwelley, CB Emmanuel Moseley, QB Nick Mullens and RB Jeff Wilson Jr. Additionally, the team exercised the 2020 contract options for FB Kyle Juszczyk and CB K’Waun Williams.”

Bullit I’m fine with dealing back from 31.
Strong class at WR & S.
Comp picks for Sanders & Ward won’t hurt the budget for others that need it.

One thing I’m not gonna do in the draft is hold my breath. I have a feeling we will pick up some real talent but won’t have any of the splash we’ve had the last few years. It wouldn’t surprise me if we stick at 31 we pick another D-lineman we were short of them by the end of the year.

Still working on my Fat Man list Winder.
Like Neville Gallimore as a steal.

Bullit I’m gonna consider this my final list on the CBs –
Ojemudia from Iowa might be my favorite from a stats perspective –

    La Tech CB L’Jarius Sneed (6’0″/192) (4.37)
    Clemson CB A.J. Terrell (6’1″/190) (4.42)
    UF CB C.J. Henderson (6’1″/204) (4.39)
Iowa CB Michael Ojemudia (6’1″/200 (4.45)
    Utah CB Julian Blackmon (6’0″/187)

Russell Okung defeated for NFLPA president. Great. What a blowhard shit-disturber.
