Secondary Helpings

1:00 pm tomorrow the 2014 season is officially underway and the airports will be full of free agents flying hither and yon in search of jobs, money, championships, or playing close to home. The air will be full of hyperbole, bullshit, and plain old mendacity.

It seems safe to say adios to CB Tarell Brown at this point. He had a nice little run here in San Francisco. Drafted in the 5th round of the 2007 Draft, he finally became a starter in 2011, got jobbed out of $2 million by his snoozing agent in 2013, and now has a chance to make some serious money in Free Agency. The 49ers had a chance to do right by him and pay him the lost money, but chose to pretend their hands were tied. Don’t expect Tarell to feel lovey-dovey about staying in SF.

SS Donte Whitner looks like a goner, too. He’ll get an offer he can’t refuse, but it won’t be from the Niners. Also likely departing from the secondary is Carlos Rogers. The team won’t keep him at $8 mil a year and he won’t take a pay cut. Perrish Cox and Eric Wright have not yet been re-signed, either.

Gadzooks! That’s a possible five departures from the secondary. So it looks like the team will be once again rebuilding the DB area this coming year. Which is what we did last year, too. If we have to do it again next year, Rod Serling’s going to show up and start lurking in the hallways of 4949 Centennial Blvd., wiggling his eyebrows ominously.

Or Whitner could re-sign today or tomorrow morning and I’d have to take my face to Unca_Chuck’s Egg Removal Salon. Ouch!

Not sure what GM Trent Baalke’s free agency plan is at this point. We need WRs and DBs, but those kind of FAs tend to be quite expensive if they’re any good. This year, due to the rising salary cap, the scuttlebutt seems to be that they’ll be more expensive than ever. The 49ers don’t shop in this high rent district, though. They’re strictly bargain hunters.

Filling five spots in the secondary is too much to ask of the May Draft, however, so Baalke will have to figure out a way around this. Sending Jim Harbaugh into the 2014 season with a depleted secondary is not going to improve the reportedly tense relationship between these two guys.

in news of our beloved seattle seahawks , golden tate is talking to other teams and red bryant has signed with the jags !

  2. robNo Gravatar says:

SKEEBS i wouldn’t be so sure rogers is a goner ! i think we might just keep him ! t. brown looks to be the odd man out imo !

  3. robNo Gravatar says:

imho we have a shot at landing a starter at center and FS with two of our top three picks !!!

  4. bullitNo Gravatar says:

You would think it would have been fairly easy for the Niners to re-sign Phil Dawson. So far it hasn’t happened and they still might come to a deal. Dawson in 2013 took up about $2.5 mil in cap room.
I have a theory that Baalke might be talking to the Seahag’s Steven Hauschka. He had a season even better than Dawson and Phol had a career year. Seahags cap hit in 2013 was only $620K for Hauscka.
Hauschka is 11 years younger than Dawson so he could be a long term solution. What really appeals to me about Hauschka is his kickoffs are very deep and are rarely returned. The Seahags couldn’t come to a deal with him and didn’t franchise him ($3.5 mil for kickers).
I think Baalke makes a serious run at Hauschka and if he fails he will at least make it more expensive for the Seahags.
Plan B would be to re-sign Dawson for a little bit more than he made last year.
Having to choose between 2 of the best kickewrs is not a bad way to go and it’s wait and see.

  5. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Jest release their best CB Cromartie to save $9.5 mil and are rumored to be after Whitner.
Whitner should know better and take most of the money upfront from the Jest which will be a deal breaker because he’ll get the same treatment from the Jest if his contract is back loaded.
Does Whitner really want to play for the Jest?

  6. BergerNo Gravatar says:

For the last 2 years we haven’t been too active in the first week of FA. One would think we would be a little more active this year because of all the players we are scheduled to lose. The best solution for the def backfield is to put the QB on the ground.

  7. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I’m not a Pac 12 follower so I am not too familiar with Everson Griffen who the Vikes just signed for 5 years $42 mil.
He’s been ion the league for 4 years now and has 17.5 total sacks as a DE.
Either the Vikes are geniuses or plain stupid because on the surface it seems they overpaid and it’s signing like this that just inflates expectations.
No doubt this will impact the negotiations when Aldon is looking for his new contract considering Griffen’s career sack total is eclipsed with what Aldon did in one season.

  8. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Bullit- Griffen had a good year last year after being injured and had some other issues. He really did well in a couple of Vikings games I watched last year.

  9. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I wonder with Jared Allen gone and more double teams how Griffen’s numbers are going to look. Is Griffen a $8 mil DE?

  10. BergerNo Gravatar says:

He was last year. You bring up a good question but by the end of the year it was Griffen getting the double teams and not Allen.

  11. robNo Gravatar says:

here are a few names to kick around

    draft : travis swanson C
    deon bailey S

    free agent :

    clinton mcdonald DT seattle

  12. robNo Gravatar says:

another possible free agent might be jacoby jones !

  13. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Boldin signed his new contract last Friday.
The structure of the deal is 5 years and it’s very cap friendly.
Boldin wants to win and is proving it through his paycheck.

  14. BergerNo Gravatar says:

PFT is reporting that Carlos Rogers is going to be cut. This should give us 8 mil more on the cap.

  15. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Whitner heads the FA list of guys to sign woith Rogers’s’s money. Tarell Brown is guy #2.

  16. bullitNo Gravatar says:

New UFA name on Niner radar reported by Bill Williamson ESPN
“Can confirm #49ers among teams that are showing interest in #Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll. Could be backup option if Brown leaves”
Carroll is a 6’1″ CB and 27 years old. If he signs and they re-sign T Brown they can seriously think about moving Culliver to Safety and still draft another Safety. Culliver would give the Niners 2 Safeties that can cover.

  17. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Yeah, I thought they’d move Culliver to safety before last season when the talk was not resigning Goldson. Turns out Reid filled in admirably, but they can still move Culliver to SS. He’s nowhere near the force Whitner is, so I think they try to keep him, and will deal with CB in the draft.

For that matter, I’m not sure how Carroll shakes out compared to Brown, but Brown was very good these past couple years. I think they try to keep both.

  18. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

“Short of a trade in the next two days, the Buccaneers are expected to release CB Darrelle Revis by 4 p.m. Wednesday, per league sources.”

  19. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Rogers has not been released and it is thought that he might be a post June 1st release which would give the Niners an extra 1.5 mil cap room in 2014 by deferring that amount into 2015.
The plus is the extra cap room for 2014 the minus is they don’t see that $6.5 mil deduction until June.

  20. FranchiseNo Gravatar says:

Big Browns offer on table tonight for Hitner. Likely a sleepless night for the Ohio native.

Calvin Pryor’s name is going to be on Goodell’s card in Round 1…

  21. BergerNo Gravatar says:

This should be an interesting day in the NFL!

  22. bullitNo Gravatar says:

If you could get Revis on a one year contract for $11 mil when he is cut and clears waivers which is a cap hit of $3 mil more than you would’ve paid Rogers, would you do it.
If he lived up to his reputation as a shutdown corner it would be worth it for one year. In the meantime you groom some CB draft picks for 2015. For me this a good one year rental and would solidify your secondary. Maybe a longshot but worth looking into.
When Rogers is released he might go back to the Redskins.

  23. bullitNo Gravatar says:

The Panthers are going to retool their entire receiving corps.
They are trying to trade Steve Smith and with no takers they will simply cut him. Panthers are also letting Brandon Lafell and Ted Ginn test the FA market.
So they will be a major player in either signing FA receivers or drafting a few so Newton has someone to throw to.
A big hiccup for a playoff team having to retool their passing game with new faces and hoping there’s chemistry.

  24. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Just heard a clip played of Herm Edwards suggesting that the Niners are the perfect spot for Revis. I agree but not for $16 mil. Like I said for $11 mil or so it would be interesting.
The rumor mills also have the Egos and Pats interested so if it becomes a bidding war those 2 teams will win out and overpay.
Also another rumor that Niners are talking to Vernon’s little brother Vontae.
Yep it’s going to be quite an interesting day per Berger.

  25. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I would not give any CB 11 mil. I’d put the money into a pass rusher who will turn an ordinary CB into an all pro.

  26. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

No way on Revis. It shouldn’t be as hard to assimilate WRs as we make it look. BOldin came in fine, but he’s very much like Crabs in that he runs solid routes. We can’t awssimilate the speed guys.

Or we just don’t throw deep. How many bombs did Ginn catch in 3 years here? Or Moss his one year?

Rough guess I’d say zip and zilch. Not a good way to stretch the field. I mean, when you never try.

  27. bullitNo Gravatar says:

CB is a position of need as it seems we are losing 4 CBs in Rogers, T Brown, Cox and Wright.
Would you give Jared Allen the $11 mil instead for his pass rushing skills?
Right now he’s talking to the Broncos and the rumor is possibly the Seahags. He’s looking to go to a contender. If you sign him who does he supplant?

  28. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

I don’t think the Niners do anything in the FA market. Except to try and keep the band together.

    Rogers will be cut today.

  29. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

And I think they keep COX! For ROB’S sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jared Allen’s the old slow guy we don’t need at this point. I’d rather draft someone for 1/20th the scratch.

  30. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

My hope is Whitner sees what happened to Goldson and thinks twice before splitting for browner pastures. Does he want a ring or does he want some extra coin. It’s not like the 49ers are going to shortchange him. They just may not reach the number Cleve does.

  31. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I hope Whitner and his agent allow Baalke the chance to make a counter offer before he signs with another team.
I have seen where the Browns are offering a 5 year $30 mil deal
so $6 mil is his magic number.
That’s $3 mil less than what Goldson is getting paid by the Bucs.

  32. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Niners paid Whitner a little under $5 mil last season.
5 years $28 mil might be more attractive for another run at a Super Bowl.
Whitner took less money to sign with the Niners instead of the Bungles 4 years ago.
Signing with the Browns would be like going back to Buffalo and a fourth place team in your division.

  33. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Jared Allen is a 4-3 DE and wasn’t very effective last year. He is off my radar.

I like Whitner but don’t like him enough to give him front line money. It doesn’t bother me to see him go elsewhere. I like Mike Mitchell from Carolina if I’m going to spend over 3 mil per year on a safety.

  34. BergerNo Gravatar says:

We should be OK on the D-line this year. I doubt we go after any FA but if somebody like Tuit fell in the draft it could be possible. Aaron Donald is not our type of lineman but he has talent. I know I could find a way to use him if I were the DC. I think his best attribute is as an inside one gapping DT, he should be able to get to the QB. He has as elusive of a swim move as I have ever seen and he counters that with a great up an under move.

  35. BergerNo Gravatar says:

The up and under is a funny term. I compare it to the hit and run in baseball which is really a run and hit. The up and under is really an under and up!

  36. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Biderman: “The Browns lead the NFL in sources.”

  37. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

That’s all they lead the league in. Well, that and sucking.

  38. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Whitner’s gone. He’s already posted an Insagram photo of the champagne bottle he’ll use to celebrate his new deal — Veuve Clicquot. Good stuff, but Whitner went with the Rosé. Should have stuck with the Brut.

  39. robNo Gravatar says:

two hours until free agency !

here are a few more names to think about on draft day

    deone buchanon ss wash state
    bryan stork c fsu
    lamarcus joyner ss
    daquan jones nt penn state

  40. BergerNo Gravatar says:

It would not surprise me if our one big signing today is Alex Mack.

  41. robNo Gravatar says:

niners called panthers about safety mike mitchell to replace whitner

  42. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

    Dawson just signed. No details./…

  43. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

    Whitner’s going to the Browns . . .

  44. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Wopnder how much Jarius Byrd would cost.

  45. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Kickers schmickers. They’re a dime a dozen. NFL is doing its damnedest to eliminate PATs and kickoffs anyway. Dying breed. And what was once a Candlestick home field wind kicking advantage will now be negated in the new digs. But those $15 beers sure will taste good.

I wonder if Whitner considered the consequences of leaving a winning franchise like the Niners and make the move to Cleveland just for the money. Something tells me Whitner pulled the old Daffy Duck “Consequences, schmonsequences, as long as I’m rich.”

  46. bullitNo Gravatar says:

So when Akers was wide you didn’t blink?
You bitch so much you can’t remember what your bitchin about.
If they got rid of kickers they should change what the game is called because they are taking away the foot from football.

  47. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Niners signed A. Bethea, SS from the colts.

  48. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Seahawks DT Clinton McDonald reached agreement on a 4-yr, $12M deal with Buccaneers,

  49. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I still remember in past years when some guys were going ape shit here because the Niners wouldn’t sign anyone in the first week or so letting all the big money deals hit.
Compared to past years, they’re dealing today.

  50. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Hitner signed for $28 mil 4 years.
His price was $7 mil a year.

  51. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

49ers have released CB Carlos Rogers.

  52. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Welcome Mr Bethea!
Antoine hits plenty hard enough, is physical and will bring a veteran presence. Don’t know much about him but
    the video is impressive.

  53. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

And Bethea’s a year older. I’m sure you think the Niners are now better off at safety after the switch. Keeping lying to yourself, Bullit. Whatever it takes to get through the day.

  54. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I’m very sorry. I know you had your heart set on Craig Dahl at Strong Safety. I hate to see your dreams crushed. I heard you are the only non relative to own his jersey. You can still wear it cuz Dahl plays special teams.

  55. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Bethea signed 4 years for $26 mil per the Chronicle.
$6.5 a year. It appears he has better coverage skills than Hitner.

  56. BergerNo Gravatar says:

After watching the Bethea video I think it is obvious he has better hands than Whitner.

  57. BergerNo Gravatar says:

A guy I had my eye on was Paul Soliai(sp) who the Falcons just signed. Nolan just got two huge run stuffing D-linemen. It’s what his system calls for. Looks like thier new GM understands personnel.

  58. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    The Egos wanted Bethea
Part of their scouting report on Antoine
“Despite being picked by Indianapolis in the sixth round of the 2006 draft, Bethea has started all 123 games that he’s played in, the most by any active NFL safety and five more than second-ranked Antrel Rolle. Last year, Bethea registered two interceptions, a sack, eight passes defended and 89 tackles. For his career, the two-time Pro Bowler has 3.5 sacks, 14 interceptions and five forced fumbles. He’s had at least one interception in all but two seasons and at least two interceptions in four of his eight seasons, including two four-pick years. Last year, Bethea made $4.55 million in base salary.

    Geoff’s projection
This one’s very intriguing because Bethea is seemingly a perfect fit. Even though he’s 29, he’s proven to be durable, starting all 16 games for the past six years. He’s played in two Super Bowls and won one, so at this stage in his career you’d think he’d prioritize one more Super Bowl shot over the largest deal available in his third contract.”
Niners draft a safety and groom him with the idea that he can challenge for Bethea’s starting spot 2-3 years down the road.

  59. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Blaine Gabbert is a 49er for a 6th round pick!

  60. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

    Niners trade a 6th round pick for . . . Blaine Gabbert!

  61. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

There’s the vet. Now they draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th round.

  62. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Gabbert’s the vet? You got the v right.

Time to buy a vowel, Vanna.

  63. robNo Gravatar says:

welcome two time pro bowler and superbowl champion antione bethea !

gabbert for a 6th we fleeced em

  64. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

So: we got younger at strong safety, with better hands, and saved two million over four years?

I can’t see a downside there. Hopefully the same effect Reid had on Whitner, making him better than he had been with Goldson next to him, will work on Bethea, too.

Gabbert for a sixth is okay. It’s not like you’re sure your 6th rounders are going to be productive anyway. If it works out, great, if not, cut him and move on. I’d still draft a developmental guy somewhere along the way.

  65. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I just found out Alex Mack was tendered by Cleveland, so forget my previous comment about him.

  66. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I remember predicting Gabbert would be a first round pick but that I did want to draft him. Now we have him! Oh well.

  67. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Actually Bethea is 362 days older than Whitner, but he does have better coverage skills. Just about aas good in run support.

  68. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

    You did?

  69. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Eric Wright is back as a Niner!

  70. bullitNo Gravatar says:

LMJ might not be too thrilled with this

“FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo reports the 49ers, Jaguars and Browns are interested in free agent RB Toby Gerhart.

It’s unknown if Gerhart has scheduled any visits. He’d be reuniting with college coach Jim Harbaugh in San Francisco, though the 49ers’ stable is already full at running back. Gerhart is coming off a nice year backing up Adrian Peterson, but has never shown anything to suggest he could be a lead NFL back”
Nothing definite but kind of expected.

  71. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Jarius Byrd S has agreed to a 6 year deal with the Aints.
CB Alterraun Verner has agreed to a contract with the Bucs.
Earlier Mike Mitchell S signed with the Steelers.
    The shuffle continues.

  72. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Chuck, where did you get the preconceived notion that Bethea has better coverage skills then Whitner? Reading some mook’s comment from the Bleacher Report doesn’t count.

According to PFF, Whitner had a +11.5 grade last year and was also top five in coverage skills. Bethea’s was -2.9, and his -4.9 coverage grade was the 17th-worst among safeties while quarterbacks had a QB rating of 103.1 when throwing at Bethea.

I swear. The Niners could sign a sack of shit and you guys would rejoice. Seriously. If a large canvas sack filled with 200 lbs. of horse manure arrived tied with a pretty red ribbon marked new starting safety you’d think the 49ers just improved their secondary.

I haven’t had to dip into my morphine derivative meds yet, but these recent 49er maneuvers are making it painstakingly more and more necessary by the minute.

  73. BergerNo Gravatar says:

What does that bag of horse manure run the 40 time in?

  74. BergerNo Gravatar says:

We just traded for Jonathon Martin.

  75. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Gerhart signs with Jags
    LMJ relieved.

  76. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Well, Whitner isn’t all that good in coverage.

I don’t know all that much about Bethea, but he’s no slouch. Just give up now Dennis and save us the whining. Did we sign Peyton Overrated yet?

  77. FranchiseNo Gravatar says:

Bethea is solid. The way some pundits describe him as if he keeps his dentures in a glass of water bedside.

At a minimum, think of him as terrific one year mentor for the heir apparent Louisville slugger, Calvin Pryor.

Dennis, is Joe Staley a neighbor of ours? Spotted him at Cardiff Seaside Market last weekend.

  78. bullitNo Gravatar says:

It is so obvious you don’t care for Bethea due to your burning love for Dahl.
Can’t bank on Baalke standing pat and your Dahl starting cuz you planned it that way.
Would it help if I posted a picture of Alex?
Gabbert will surely wear #11 in tribute.

  79. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Donald Brown rb signs with Chargers.
    Talib cb signs with Broncos.

  80. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Jonathan Martin only cost a 2015 7th rd pick if he makes the Niner 53 man roster.
It could be a big steal if Martin still has the fire.

  81. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

    Certainly no risk at all.

  82. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

    Both trades are no brainers.
Gabbert is an improvement of McCoy
    Martin probably replaces Snyder?
Either way, low risk, low cost options.
Saved money with Whitner and Rogers too.

  83. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

First we trade for Gabbert, now Martin. Another huge pussy. They’ll be selling soft serve ice cream at the new stadium like it’s going out of style. Laughingstock.

  84. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Neither guy is expected to start Del.
Just some competition options for next to nothing.

  85. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Pretty pussy move to break your shoulder trying to sit, eh?

We’ll take to take a break before we move on to chewing gum and walking.

  86. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Laughingstock? Did those mean ol’ ducks break your foot? Or did you do that running away from them?

  87. robNo Gravatar says:

wow jonathan martin ! good thinking by harbaugh ! we got a borderline starter / excellent backup for a SONG ! GOOD MOVE !

  88. robNo Gravatar says:

omg niners just signed a bag o shitt ! yay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    DEL !!!!!!!!!!

  89. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Martin gives us an option there if A. Davis continues to struggle outside. Also maybe insurance if Iupati is not 100% when the season starts. Now we need to figure out who is going to be our center going forward.

Whitner’s coverage stats are influenced by being next to Reid – everyone here including me was unimpressed with him in 2012, then pleasantly surprised last year. Let’s see how Bethea looks with Reid next to him and Aldon, Brooks and Justin getting after the QB. Individual stats for defenders can never be taken at face value – there is always a collective team aspect to everything.

  90. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Niners remain interested in T Brown as well as CB Chris Cook of the Vikes and Nolan Carroll of the Fins.

  91. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Just read Chris Cook is trouble off the field.
Assaulted his girlfriend and Vikes suspended him 10 games. He also pulled a gun on a neighbor but chsrges dropped.
Not worth it because he reeks of problems.

  92. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Think back a year ago when Goldson left and they had Dahl pencilled in as his replacement.
Bethea is a proven pro and it’s a long ways to Sept.
One thing is certain the top five available Safeties were signed yesterday.
Only other safeties were Decoud and Clemons.

  93. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Steelers signed Cody Wallace to a three year deal. From rag doll to versatile backup in six vagabond years.

  94. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Cody Wallace a late bloomer?
Never heard of a 300 lb player being ragdolled.
    Must have gotten stronger.

  95. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

DeMarcus Ware goes to the Broncos. Looks like Manning will get the opportunity to lose another SB this year. Unless of course Peyton gets to play our Niners. He’ll shred Bethea and the rest of our yet-to-be determined shitty secondary to threads. At least Harbaugh will build on his legacy as being the best Big Game losing coach of all time.

  96. bullitNo Gravatar says:

So it Denver, Dallas and Dahl for Denny Downer.
I totally get it! It’s like Krazy 8’s

  97. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

And Peyton gets another shot at sucking in a Super Bowl . . .

  98. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

As far as pussies go, you are the biggest pussy fan in existence, Dennis.

  99. BergerNo Gravatar says:

What is wrong with being a pussy fan? I told the gay girls around the corner that as far as liking pussy I qualify as a lesbian, just like them!

  100. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Ironic that the protect the “pussy” protect the QB rules were put in for your favorites Brady and Peyton.
You have selective reasoning and overlook the very rules you always bitch about.

  101. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Seahags have released DE Chris Clemons.
That’s five dlinemen gone from last year’s roster.
McCown QB signed with the Bucs

  102. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Golden Tate to Lions. Sopoaga released by Pats.

  103. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Red Bryant and Chris Clemons gone! I love it!

  104. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Browns release QBs Weeden and Campbell.
Before yesterday I thought that’s where our vetetan backup QB would come from.

Bills released Kolb but he can’t stay on the field as he’s always hurt.

Golden Tate to the Lions. Seattle’s losing a lot of parts.

  106. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Revis cut loose by the TBs.

  107. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Broncos have been a big player in signing free agents getting Talib, Ward and Ware.
They started the day with $15 mil in cap room.
Ware’s new deal pays him $13 mil in 2014.
Elway might be juggling numbers but he hasn’t addressed his leaky oline.

  108. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Seahags cut Clemons and Bradley goes after him for the Jags.
Petey expects for players he cut to come back cheap but they are signing elsewhere.

  109. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Pats rent Revis for one year $12 mil.
    Deal just announced.r

  110. BergerNo Gravatar says:

With Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware rushing the QB the Broncos should get more turnovers from their defense this year. If a team has a good play caller the O-line is one area being a little weak won’t kill them. Getting more opportunities from the defense should be a big deal.

  111. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Peyton Manning will be 38 in less than 2 weeks.
That seems to be the magic age where past great QBs retire.
Montana, Young, Elway, Marino and Warner all retired when they reached the age of 38.
Pressure is on for Broncos to do it this year.
It’s all over if the backup QB has to play if Manning goes down. Denver has a swiss cheese oline.

  112. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Raiduhs can’t catch a break. Their big name FA
OT Roger Saffold failed his physical which voided the deal.
Seahags lost another player as RT Breno Giacomini just signed with the Jest.

  113. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Broncos, for how shitty they played in the Super Bowl, are building a team to get back there. Their big problem was Bailey and the pass defense. They’ve improved that, and they improved their pass rush.

  114. bullitNo Gravatar says:

More bizarre happenings. Saffold has re-signed with the Rams.
The Ram doctors must be more lenient.

  115. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Eric Decker signed with the Jest.

  116. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Sproles is being traded to the Egos.
I’m wondering if LMJ could’ve been worth a 4th rd pick if offered?
Steve Smith going to be released today and Panthers after Hakeem Nicks.

  117. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Contrary to a few negative opinions from the usual, Bethea is a very good safety that will add leadership and stabilize a young seondary. He’s no slouch.

  118. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Aints only got a 5th rd pick for Sproles.

  119. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Here’s a guy nobody has heard of until now.
Gil Brandt says he’s like Danny Woodhead.
In Niner terms he’s Paul Hofer/Bill Ring.
7th rd, Niners should take a shot at Kyle Hartbridge

  120. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Per Maiocco this proves there was more than one DICK in Seattle and there’s nothing Golden about him after Baalke reached out.
“And the team showed interest in free agent Golden Tate, he said Wednesday on a Seattle radio show after signing with the Detroit Lions.

The 49ers reached out to Tate, who explained to the KJR radio audience he could not do that to Seahawks fans.”

  121. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

In other words, Bullitt, Deetroit offered more money.

Some people post about things that will happen. Some post about things that already happened.

  123. bullitNo Gravatar says:

What are you trolling for today?
The usual hypocriical BS trying to start a fight?
“Some post about things that already happened.”
Like your post from 3:19 yesterday
“Golden Tate to the Lions. Seattle’s losing a lot of parts.”
    or at 4:04
“Revis cut loose by the TBs.”

Think you should think before you post because people know how to read.
I have always said I like to share info.
I suppose it’s not OK unless it comes from Chuck.

Transperancy is a bitch for you.

    Obsess much?

  125. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Walter Thurmond is coming to SF for a visit.

  126. unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

1 pick in 34 games? Meh.

  127. BergerNo Gravatar says:

Maybe, but he went to my high school so I like him.
