Seahawks 26, 49ers 23

The 49ers ended their 2020 season the same way they ended their 2019 season. They gave up three TDs in the 4th quarter to blow a ten point lead and lose a game they had handily controlled for three quarters.

Of course, the two losses had very dissimilar effect on us poor fans. The 2019 loss caused severe indigestion for months, maybe even years. But Sunday’s loss went down as easily as a plate of prunes on a blocked butt. And the team moved higher on the 2021 Draft board, which is even one of the few positive developments to occur in this ill-fated season. If you are planning to buy a new van those are additional resources that can help to take the decision.

DC Robert Saleh is evidently on his way out the door to become the HC of one team or another in the league, and I will not be sad to see him go. This choking in the 4th quarter business has become a tired act.

While we’re at it, HC Kyle Shanahan is getting a bit too close to earning the same rep as his DC. The Three Quarters genius and the Fourth Quarter doofus.

There’s a word for this type of behavior, but it escapes me at the moment. Something about premature something or other.

Meanwhile, our old friend Alex Smith came back from the dead this year to bring Washington back from the dead and into the playoffs. Perhaps Washington will settle on ZOMBIES as their new franchise moniker. Smitty has become the Marty Schottenheimer of NFL QBs. Good enough to get you into the postseason, but not good enough to do any damage once you get there.

And the season from hell has officially ended. There will be a lot of comings and goings this offseason, which may or may not be entertaining, but at least none of it will involve torn ACLs, hamstring pulls, or high ankle sprains. For that, we’ll have to wait until next August.

Yeah Skeebs, hopefully it will turn out to be a ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’ situation. One thing our team has is a never give up attitude, we just need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot.
I know our front office has made some mistakes in drafting and some of the on field decisions are confusing and seem very vanilla, I still think we have the right people making the decisions. Thank God Baalky is somewhere else.

Robert Saleh is not the only staff member that the Niners might lose.
Adam Peters is interviewing for the Carolina Panthers GM job.

  4. winderNo Gravatar says:

Hopefully Peters taught Lynch everything he needs to know.

Kittle revealed in an interview as he got emotional that he HAS ENJOYED PLAYING with CJ Beathard.
Since Kittle isn’t going anywhere Kittle was saying farewell to his buddy CJ.

Patrick Willis and Bryant Young are not among the finalists for this year’s Hall of Fame.
Only John Lynch is among the 15 finalists

Tomsula and Nolan fired in Dallas.

  8. winderNo Gravatar says:

That is actually funny. Although I thought Tomsula was a pretty good line coach. Anyone who can get that much money off of Jed can’t be all bad. That said, I think Jed has made the right decisions the last few years.

McCarthy is the problem in big Duh.
He’s just higher on the food chain than Nolan and Tomsula.
This is same group we all lived with and, who brought us Alex over ARod.
    Ah, the memories…

No amount if misery in Dallas is enough for me.

    Jerruh deserves it in spades.

Today is the 39th anniversary of “The Catch”

I remember that game and that day 39 yeras ago. Yikes!!!

    RIP Dwight Clark

    Egos fire HC Doug Peterson

This is a power struggle between GM and Head Coach. Sound familiar?

And stupidly the owner went with the GM and we know hoe that turns out.

I also think Pederson was exposed when Frank Reich departed for Indy.
Reich made Wentz and their Offense go.
I have similar concerns for Shanny if/when Saleh departs.
Our track record on Offense hasn’t gained much traction.

Lynch needs to get the OLine and QB into better territory as I suspect the D will have many holes to fill with FA departures.

Very critical Draft ahead with important positions at stake.

  13. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Devonte Smith looked like Jerry Rice yesterday. Hard to believe that Bama will have 4 WRs drafted in the first round of 2 drafts
with Smith and Waddle coming out this year.

Lynch might promote from within and make DeMeco Ryans the DC as Quinn and Bradley were snatched up. Other DC being mentioned is Anthony Lynn.

  14. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Seahags scapegoat OC Brian Schottenheimer and send him packing.

Seahags in search of a new OC.

  15. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Bullit I see it as Mac Jones delivering the ball.
He’s not mobile but, he’s extremely accurate and can make the deep throws look easy.
Saban has got such a stable of talent it’s almost criminal.

I would be very comfortable having Najee Harris and Mac Jones, along with Center Landon Dickerson playing for us.

Haven’t done much research yet on the IOL guys but, Dickerson is my favored option at C thus far.
I’m drooling over the DE options this year. I could see Lynch biting early for another pass rusher at 12.
Dee Ford has been unreliable and Bosa needs some help.

  16. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Again, so much DE talent it blows my mind.

This kid from PSU declared and is quick as lightning –

  17. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Given the challenges we face with Wilson and Murray, we need to add some speed to our DLine.
Oweh is a beast and so is Ossai.
Bosa coming off an ACL is not automatic either. Nice to see his rehab going ahead of schedule of course but, it’s not an easy thing mentally.

  18. bullitNo Gravatar says:

RIP Steve Hendrickson who died of Covid19

Former NFL linebacker Steve Hendrickson, who won a Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers, died on Friday at the age of 54, via Marty James of the Napa Valley Register.

7 days more of this idiot in the White House who has bungled the pandemic and now will be impeached as a traitor today.

  19. bullitNo Gravatar says:

It is being reported that Saleh will be the HC of the Jests

Probably better for him than going home to Michigan. We see how that worked out for Mooch when he went home and became coach of the Lions.

  20. bullitNo Gravatar says:

It’s official Saleh to Jests and the Niners have two 3rd round compensatory picks one each in next two years.

    Jacksonville hires Urban Meyer.

  21. winderNo Gravatar says:

Saleh’s pick is the very last 3rd rd pick so it’s pretty much a 4th. But with our needs it’s a pretty good deal.

  22. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Josh Gordon gets his 246th “indefinite” suspension.

    New post is up.
