Seahawks 24, 49ers 13

The 49ers’ massive one game winning streak finally came to an end Sunday in Santa Clara, as they wheezed to defeat against the Seattle Seahawks.

The team conducted a spirited battle of nothingness in the first quarter, then the Seahawks took control, putting up a TD in each of the next three quarters, while the Niners put up a couple of FGs.

The margin of defeat was gussied up to look competitive by a meaningless end-of-game TD. It was the 49ers’ only TD of the game and was interesting only because the new franchise-qb-in-waitng, Jimmy Garoppolo, trotted in for an injured CJ Beathard with only a few seconds left in the game and promptly whipped a tight-window pass to Louis Murphy, putting the Niners in the end zone, where they had ventured not during the first 59:59.99 minutes of the game.

The Saviour Has Arrived. And the assembled handful of masochists, disguised as 49er fans, cheered wildly. Is this the end for Beathard, the man from snowy Iowa who has offered up his body to be thumped and clobbered for the past six weeks?

Meanwhile, back in zombieville, the Niners are 1-10, a heartbeat away from the number one pick in next year’s Draft.

The Seahawks left town, thankful for an extra BYE week on their schedule, after casually stomping the Niners for about the ninth consecutive time.

And somewhere in a dark and empty bar, huddled in a corner draped with embarrassment, a Joe Montana jersey shares a quiet drink with a Ronnie Lott jersey, while the jukebox plays, “Those were the days, my friend, we thought they’d never end …”

Looks like our old friend Blaine Gabbert has beaten out Drew Stanton for the starting job in Arizona.

    BG arrow up
    Alex Smith arrow down.
I’ll join those jerseys from the days when Steve backed up Joe, and have a few cold ones myself.
Asking, how the fuk Jed replaced Eddie?
What a long, strange trip it’s been.

    Bartender, keep’m coming.

and the pro kneeler Eric Reid is upset with the behavior of the fans? No irony there, fool.

Maybe it’s just that Garoppolo still had clear vision from not having his head beat against the turf constantly for the previous three hours.

Folks who preach nonsense think getting beat up is the fault of the QB while simultaneously complaining of the uselessness of the o-line and the stupidity of establishing a run game. If G-man starts now and Shanahan keeps calling deep pass plays the Niners will continue to produce QBs who are ‘shitty’ until they get lucky enough to play for another team.

Stay on your knees boys, and keep whining about the fans who “just don’t understand”.

    Bizarro World NoFear.
In the words of The Who….

Dizzy in the head and I’m feeling blue
The things you’ve said, well, maybe they’re true
I’m gettin’ funny dreams again and again
I know what it means, but…

Dizzy in the head and I’m feeling bad
The things you’ve said have got me real mad
I’m gettin’ funny dreams again and again…

    I Can’t Explain.

“Louis Murphy’s touchdown last Sunday was the first for a 49ers wideout against the Seahawks in the regular season since 2010.”

Headline over a shot of the Niner’s stadium before the game against the Seahawks with a hundred-yard-long U.S. flag stretched over the field.

A study in contradiction or a test of what Americans will tolerate in their thirst for entertainment?

skeebs- that is a crazy stat. Just goes to show how important Gore was to the offense all those years. He usually had some decent games against them.

  9. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

If it wasn’t for Gore’s late game 60 yard run, where he purposely downed himself to keep the clock running and set up the game winning FG, Kaepernick would never have beaten Seattle and our losing streak to them would be 12, not 9.

Good luck Jimmy G. You’re going to need it.

    It’s Da Bears Grump.
This was another game I had pegged as a potential W in the off-season.
For whatever that’s worth at this point…
We’ll need to stop their run game if a W is going to occur for us though.
Not worried about Trubiski so much.

Right now, I’m not confident that our O-line can stop a Mormon church picnic. Hence my concern for Jimmy’s future.

  13. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Let’s hope Shanny will rely on Hyde/Breida a little more and, when he does throw the ball, Jimmy gets it out of his hand more quickly than CJ.

That’s the one advantage I think Jimmy has over CJ at this point, his ability to read and react more quickly.
The OL has had it’s share of blame of course, mostly injury related but, like Kaep, when the ball doesn’t come out or, the QB leaves the pocket, all bets are off.

A W doesn’t even matter to me at this point. Stay healthy, get reps, see what fits, or not, for next year.
