RIP 2011

Welcome to the San Francisco 49ers’ 2012 Offseason! There’s nothing happening.

But at least the pretenders are finally off the stage. Nice game Sunday, but the best game of the postseason was Saints vs Niners. Either one of those two teams could have whipped the overrated Patriots. Green Bay could have whipped them, too.

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have not won a Super Bowl since Adam Vinatieri left the team and the league took away Belichick’s hidden camera. He hasn’t out-coached anyone since and Brady has not out-performed anyone since. Seven years and counting.

The coming days will be NFL Hyperbole Week, where everyone connected with the 9-7 Giants will be proclaimed the greatest this or greatest that. Riiiiight. Rex Ryan will be suffering big time in New York.

Out here in blue collar Ninerland, however, it’s a perfect time to indulge your inner anality and set your 2012 offseason calendar:

Feb. 20: Teams can begin applying franchise and transition tags to players. [Dashon Goldson, you ain’t going anywhere.]

Feb. 22-28: NFL Combine (live coverage on NFL Network and [40 yard dash times, psychological evals, coaches pressing the flesh and begging for jobs, and a whole lot of yawn.]

March 5: Deadline for teams to apply franchise and transition tags. [Final inkling to marginal young players that they are not in the plans.]

March 13: Free agency begins at 4pm EST. [One week of big name overpayments to wow the fans, followed by reasonable signings by smart GMs to upgrade their teams. Trent Baalke time.]

March 25-28: NFL owners meetings (in Palm Beach, FL). [Barely a ripple.]

Late April: 2012 NFL schedule is announced. [Hysteria, handwringing, conspiracy theories, pompous predictions – we’re getting warm now, guys!]

April 26: First round of 2012 NFL Draft. [Not as exciting as the past 8 years, but this is good. Long wait till the end of the day and pick number 30 is on the clock.]

April 27: Second and third rounds of 2012 NFL Draft. [Good players are going fast.]

April 28: Rounds 4-7 of 2012 NFL Draft. [Looking for one or two good men.]

Late July: Training camps across the league begin. [Vroom, vroom!]

Early August: 2012 preseason begins. [Michael Crabtree’s 4th annual excuse to sit this thing out.]

Sept. 6: 2012 NFL regular season begins at stadium of Super Bowl champion. [Should have been in SF, but Yeah! here we go again!]

You really do have almost no self esteem. If the highlight of your week is guessing and being right on a blog to prove your self worth
    than you are beyond help.

What matters to most here are the Niners. You have been wrong about everything Niners all season because you are an idiot with selective memory
Spitblood Chronicles 4 days ZERO posts. It’s the pathetic joke blog of the internet.

The 49ers do play in Giants Stadium this year, but it is vs the Jets. Do I dare fly to NJ to see the game in person? My friend in NY, NJ49er and I will be talking. In the mean time, I’ll be looking for a new 49er T-shirt.

  3. bullitNo Gravatar says:

If you can find it I think this is the utimate Niner shirt
    I have mine in black

Almost impossible to find as I bought mine about 10 years ago.
    Good luck!

Seriously…. the coulda, shoulda, woulda birds are out in full force the last couple of days. We coulda done this, we shoulda done that… we’re better than they are – or would be…. NO. NO. NO. You’re only as good as your record. The 49ers won one playoff game. That’s it. The Giants and Patriots were far superior teams to the 49ers in all accounts. Sure, the Giants and 49ers went into overtime, but guess what… the Giants won two more games which puts a lot of real estate between them and the 49ers when reflecting back on this season.
And I’ll tell you another thing. The 49ers – because of injuries, the league understanding what Jim Harbaugh and his coaches like to do (having a complete book on Harbaugh), the NFC West getting more competitive with Fisher, and because the turnover ration won’t bounce in their favor – the 49ers won’t have the same success next year unless, UNLESS they upgrade the quarterback position AND the wide receiver position. Not just the WR position – both need upgrading. And don’t give me this… Alex Smith in the same system will be better. No he won’t. He’ll still miss deep passes, not be able to throw on the run, throw worm burners to his receivers, play tight, have no vision, not be able to extend plays…. blah, blah. You can’t teach that, ‘n Alex ain’t got it. NEXT!!!
PS – Eli Manning is the second coming of Joe Montana.

  5. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Hey asshole we all know you’re a front runner so might as well admit you’re a Gnats fan. If it were Brees you’d be saying the same damn thing.
To even hold Joe’s jock Manning needs to win a few NFL MVPs and another Super Bowl.
You’re just a video game fanboy and a fraud.
But more than ever I am convinced you are a hater troll.

  6. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    And so it begins

Looking forward to seeing Eskin do his croos country bike ride from Philly because he lost a bet.
Eskin is the same guy that said whoever gets Kolb is a playoff lock. He forgot to add the word out after lock.

  7. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

Just because the team has a need, and the money, doesn’t mean Manning’s going there. Manning is going to a team competing for Super Bowls right now. It’s a not a coincidence Manning mentioned the Ravens and 49ers in his interview with ESPN.

  8. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

I’ll tell you one thing, if Jerry Reece (sp?) and the Giants can get a tight end and some linebackers in the draft, that team could be dangerous for a long time. Tuck, Pierre-Paul, Cruz, Nicks, Manning and Bradshaw are all relatively young dudes.

  9. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Hah! I picked the Giants, too, but the only proof I have is my next door neighbor’s memory, which is to say, none.

That, picking the Niners over the Saints, and… picking the Broncs to beat the Steelers, then lose to the Pats, which I believe I did BEFORE week 17’s games.

With all the other misguesses, I can live with that.

I thought there was a chance that Pierre-Paul was going to be a monster when he tore it up at South Florida in his first and only year playing football, his senior year. The dude’s the best DE in the league.

  10. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

You picked the Broncos to beat the Steelers? Well done. Not many did…

  11. bullitNo Gravatar says:

The know nothing moron imbecile that you are doesn’t take into account that the Gnats have 18 players on their roster that are free agents.
You sound like a Gnats fan to me.

  12. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Before Week 17, Al. Before the last game of the season…

  13. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

I did a playoff football pool with friends and family for $100. Only one guy in the entire pool picked the Broncos ’cause he’s a religious nutjob, wingbat, psycho, double douche… (but I love him ’cause he’s family). Anyway, he was the only one and won because of Jesus. You believe, you get rich – it’s just that simple. At least according to Republicans.

  14. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Broncs over the Steelers wasn’t that big an upset to me, Al. The big sports station in Albuquerque does Broncos talk, so I got to know them pretty well this year.
They have a terrific defense, which did nothing for Orton, but for some reason came alive for St. Tim. They have a suspect pass defense against the best passing teams. In the regular season, they took a 17-6 lead over the vaunted Pats, then the Pats scored 5 TDs in less time than it takes you to say, “Tim, you ain’t as good as that Brady kid.”

I merely figured they’d have enough at home to pull off the upset, but there was no way in hell (hope Tim doesn’t read this) they were going to stop Brady.

I should have stuck to picking them. I would’ve been perfect.

  15. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Brady’s taking Alex type heat in Patriot land. Hahaha. Fans. A lot of Alberts out there.

Less than an ounce? Criminy, what a joke. Only in Fla can you get an 18 month suspended sentence for killing your wife’s lover, and get 3 years hard time for a couple joints.

Raiders hire ex Niner coach as their DC.
Jason Tarver who was co-DC at Stanford.
Happy it wasn’t Donatell and so far our core coaching staff is intact (the guys that really matter)

  21. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

Looks like the Bengals, 49ers, Patriots and Falcons were the best run teams in 2011 (money spent verse wins).

  22. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

The Patriots are probably wishing they’d spent a few bucks on decent cornerbacks this morning.

  23. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

What the Patriots should have done was spent a couple of bucks on a quarterback because Tom Brady is clearly washed up. Tom Brady is no Eli Manning.

” Less than an ounce? Criminy, what a joke. Only in Fla can you get an 18 month suspended sentence for killing your wife’s lover, and get 3 years hard time for a couple joints. ”

Yeah, I’m waiting for the commercial with a Ford truck sitting on a hill, with a Dodge and a Chevy sitting in 3 feet of water. As the guys are bailing the water out of their trucks, the Ford guy says, “Buy Ford, no bailouts needed. . .”

BTW imho considering the way things played out , we have a legitmate claim to being the 2nd best team in football !!!

  30. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

How stupid are the New Orleans Saints? I just now realized this… slipped through my NFL knowledge cracks. The Saints gave up this year’s first round draft choice to trade with the Patriots to get Mark Ingram? Seriously? I really like the way that team has drafted. Loomis is the real deal. But A.) you don’t draft a running back in the first round in this era, and B.) you definitely don’t mortgage the future to do so.
I mean, think about it. The Saints could have drafted Kendal Hunter. The knock on Hunter was that he’s too small and would get injured, but the bigger back – Ingram was the dude who was out most of the season with camel turf toe. Lol… camel turf toe. Anyway, the Saints could have Kendal Hunter and their first round pick this year. They might have gone further in the playoffs too because Donte Whitner KNOCKED PIERRE THOMAS THE F OUT and the Saints were left with Ivory and Sproles…. so Brees had to throw 50 times. You don’t win games that way.
I think the Saints lost to the Seahawks last year because they didn’t have a running game, and this year they did, but not when it mattered most because of Ingrams Camel turf toe and Donte Whitner. Underscores the importance of finding good late round running backs. Speaking of which – Baalke needs to find us another one in this year’s draft. Dixon should tow Santa’s sleigh with Dancer and Prancer, Gore is old and Kendal is small. That spells another late round running back.

I don’t give a rat’s ass about your 2 favorite teams the Gnats and the Aints.
It’s gets very old to listen to your crap pumping up your faves and putting down the Niners.
You have no knowledge and you never will.
Given a choice between Eli Manning and Frady, I’ll take Brady every day of the week.
You are a boob as Eli Manning’s career QB rating is 82 compared to Alex Smith at 76 and Tom Brady at 96.
Only an ignoramus such as yourself would even suggest Jake Locker is the next Steve Young.
You are too easily impressed FANBOY.

  32. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

“Given a choice between Eli Manning and Frady, I’ll take Brady every day of the week.” That’s about right. If you took him yesterday, on Super Bowl Sunday, over Eli, you’d be a loser. Which, like I just wrote, is about right… Nice choice. I commend you on your timing.

  33. AlbertEinstinkleNo Gravatar says:

Eli and Brady have faced off 4 times in their careers – either in the regular season or playoffs. Eli has beaten Tom three out of four times. The only time Tom beat Eli was in 2007 when the Patriots went undefeated in the regular season, but then Eli beat Tom in the Super Bowl. So three out of four times, Unca picks a loser. Even in hindsight Unca’s a loser, which really is impressive….
