Motown Meh

The 49ers travel to Detroit this weekend for a game that has very little significance. If the Niners win, they’ll fall below the Lions in the 2016 Draft slotting. If Detroit wins, it will give the Niners a 1-7 road record, eleven losses, another round of boos — business as usual these days.

The 49er leak machine is floating the news that Jim Tomsula will return next year as the HC. Evidently, demoting Paraag Marthe for being the source of leaks has not stopped the leaks from continuing. Of course not. Jed York and Trent Baalke don’t have the guts to do business in plain view. If you were as culpable and incompetent as either one of these guys, you might lean that way, too.

There’s no way to know at this time of year which team has the most players thinking more about their health and their end of season plane tickets home than they are about trying to win a meaningless game. So it’s possible the Niners will win this weekend and maybe the final game at home against the equally dead-in-the-water Rams.

Still, it would be a lot more fun if the team loses both games to finish 4-12 and on a four game losing streak. Watching York explain to us what a tough year it’s been and how none of it was Tomsula’s fault and none of it was Baalke’s fault would be hilarious. If he shows up for a presser, that is. Maybe he’ll just send out a leak.

I can’t see us beating the Lions on the road, even if they sit most of their starters.

I’d say the best we can hope for is the Rams get beat up against the Seahawks and rumors start flying in their locker room about Fisher’s future, the players see us as their future and they show up for our game too torn up between hysteria and sympathy to play worth a shit.

While I’m quite certain York/Baalke floated the ‘Tomsula stays’ idea to gauge reaction among contemporaries and fans, I’m just as certain the resulting apathy will be taken as acceptance by those arrogant pretenders.

4-12 sounds about right. I’ll wait for the leak/tweet but will call our next two games = losses right now. No one will win the Official Outsider 2015 Prognostication overall season record if 4-12. Maybe Skeebs and I get lucky and we win 2 more = 6-10. Yeah and Santa is really real too.

Phil: 21-10 Lions. We’re 9.5 point underdogs sez Skeebs but Lions will exceed that. Also agree with Grumpy that next year should be worse. Who were the big mouths saying dump Jimi, that’s a good thing? Yeah now finding bullshit is no match for reality, good judgment and honesty. I laugh.

RTFirefly: 24-21 over the Lions in OT. 7-9 next season (we get a cheesecake with cherries schedule compared to this year). 5-11 is looking prescient at the moment. I suppose it depends on how many players have given up. Certainly not Boone, since he’s climbed that mountain and has already reached his work limit. No one should be happier than him. The tidy locker room must put a smile on his face.

2 AM kickoff will be eagerly awaited by me with the wifi connection, the new laptop and router…NOT.

“The 49ers have not scored more than 20 points in regulation since Week 6 win over Ravens and have not scored 30 points in a game all season.”

    49ers inactives:

    WR Simpson
    RB Draughn
    CB Davis
    LB Wilhoite
    G Thomas
    C Martin

What an utter waste of money Simpson has been.

Baalke’s 2015 FA moves are about as big a whiff as his 2012 draft class.

Scott McCloughans Redskins beat Philly to get in the playoffs?

Jimi and Scott…I’m going to cry

When Draughn is the star of your FA signings and has only played a few games it tells you how Baalke squandered about $12 mil.

Still have no idea what Baalke was thinking signing Simpson especially because he was suspended for half a season and he’s almost 30.

Looks like Detroit’s D practiced for Kaepernick and Hyde.

Baalke really needs to go there is no justification for not canning him. Just bull$hit.

Good opening drive. Congrats to Boldin on Catch #1K

But Mangini’s defense tries too much disguise and trickery and ends up shooting themselves in the foot.
Too many times this year they have ended up hurting themselves more than the opposing offense.

Ward jumping offsides was a result of Baalke’s coaching technique.

  12. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Gabbert 9/10 with 2 TDs.
Dejuan Harris ripping Lions for 70 yards so far.
    Who are these guys?

  13. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Tomsula’s ramblings in his press conferences have become easy targets for ridicule and Jimmy T always delivers.
“Jim Tomsula on Lions second-half adjustments:
‘I don’t know that they were a step ahead. Obviously there were a step ahead on me.’

Overwhelming theme of Tomsula’s press conference:
“Can’t have it. Just can’t have it.”

Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Keeping Jimmy T around is just a waste of another year.
The dazed deer in headlights looks that Tomsula displays is one of a kind.

The *good* news, heh, is that we are up to fifth overall in the draft now.

The bad news? Nobody here knows what to do with the damned pick anyway.

    Tequila, Take me away…

  15. NoFear49erNo Gravatar says:

Watching the NYGs play without Beckham is like watching the new win-with-class, we-don’t-raise-conference-banners, Jed/Trent Niners play after Harbaugh… whole different animal.

These chumps think they can continue with their charade another year? It’s like moms put Jed in charge of polishing the brass on the yacht and he painted it all chalkboard black and didn’t expect anyone to notice the difference.

  16. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

Instead of the Three Amigos, we have The Three Pendejos, Jed, Trent and Ron Jeremy.

  17. NoFear49erNo Gravatar says:

Los Tres Pendejos. Sounds about right. Hang it over the door!

Looks like Grumpy and RTF are still in the pick pool. After seeing the Rams play the Seahawks today I think everyone underestimated the suck of ‘LTP’.
