Miami Vice

The 49ers are reportedly anxious to get Colin Kaepernick into camp so they can work on his mechanics. Really? They’ve had him for three years now and are just getting around to his mechanics?

Hmmmm. This looks suspiciously like a management attempt to portray Kaepernick as a non elite, unpolished QB who’s still somewhat lacking in basic skill sets. Aimed mostly at bringing his price down in the contract extension talks that are currently underway. Otherwise, you have to wonder what the hey QB coach Geep Chryst has been doing for the past three years?

The team is probably anxious to get the other two top picks from the 2011 Draft into camp, also. For different reasons. These two bad boys — Chris Culliver and Aldon Smith — are due to be arraigned Friday on their various criminal charges. Evidently, Kaepernick felt embarrassed sandwiched between these two fellows sporting a halo, so he made a feeble, or perhaps bold, attempt to get dirty himself down in Miami. Or, embellishing his halo in a kinky way, got dirty so his own agent has to whack a few million off his contract demands.

2013 draft pick WR Quinton Patton was also in this episode of Miami Vice, bringing the total to four 49ers Who Could Start The 2014 Season With A Suspension. Terrific. Certainly takes the wind out of our sails regarding disparaging remarks about the Seahawks PED users.

What is it with Miami? What does it have that Turlock, California doesn’t? Other than a lot more mega babes ready to party and a lot more drug dealers.

This story will either burn away this weekend like a morning fog, or blow up into a major crisis this coming week, bringing into play the knee-knocking words Blaine Gabbert. Kaepernick, Culliver, and Smith are all entering the final year of their rookie contracts and all three of them were looking for significant coinage upscale some time this year. It’s safe to say their agents’ initial bargaining positions have been seriously weakened.

QB mechanics are something that never stops getting worked on. Tom Brady talks about this often. Bill Walsh used to talk about it.

The biggest problem with getting a new OC or HC is having to learn a new playbook, which takes time away from working on mechanics. Hearing that our coaches want to work on Kap’s fundamentals is a refreshing piece of news.

You never heard that with a few previous coaches. Heck, one coach couldn’t even keep the same offensive system in from year to year. Nolan would hire a new OC who ran a completely different type of offense from the previous year, for 4 years in a row. Our QB rarely had the chance to give the requisite time to work on the fundamentals of throwing a football. Alex Smith’s head was always in a new playbook each year.

The guy that was drafted one pick before Kap, Andy Dalton just spent last week with Tom House working on his footwork.
House has worked with Brady, Brees and Alex Smith and helped them with their biomechanics.
Peyton Manning goes to David Cutliffe his old coach to tweak his mechanics.
How do the best QBs stay on top? They spend the time and go out of their way on their own time to keep improving.

  3. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Oh crap!
Kap had to go to Twitter to give his 2 cents.
He’d be better served to stay off social media and let the truth come out if it’s going to vindicate him.
I am not sure who’s advising him. I pray that his Mom doesn’t come forward to defend him publicly.

Frankly, in this day and age, I’d be more surprised by no response from Kaepernick. And I doubt anyone advised him to respond.
That is the beauty of social media. Instant reaction. Instant regret.

    Alex Smith?

    More info has been revealed
Miami Fire Paramedics picked the woman up at the hotel and took her to the hospital. Lockette and patton used their name and kept Kap off the report.

Kap didn’t show up at Anquan Boldin’s Golf Event yesterday to avoid the media circus.
Harbaugh was there and gave his usual no comment.
Culliver was in court and pleaded not guilty to all 3 counts against him. His next court date is May 11 but he doesn’t have to attend personally.
Aldon Smith also had a court date yesterday but it was continued to the end of the month.

Monday the Niners are hosting a bunch of potential draft picks at their facility in Santa Clara.
Clemson wide receiver Martavis Bryant, Georgia State wide receiver Albert Wilson, Central Florida running back Storm Johnson and Boston College offensive lineman Matt Patchan are also scheduled to meet with the team, while Oklahoma cornerback Aaron Colvin is scheduled to come in later in the week.

Jordan Spieth just needs some experience.
Not easy to win your first time at the Masters.
You know he’s a Texas Longhorn.
At Texas right now is Beau Hossler out of San Diego and he’ll soon join Spieth on the PGA tour in a year or so.
They will be like Crenshaw and Kite also Texas-exes.

The Purple Wedding is on GOT tonight.
Also if you haven’t seen it watch “Turn” on AMC tonight.
It’s a series that started last week and is worth watching.

  13. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Screw that, Bullit. Getting early reports from Twitter that Aldon Smith was just arrested at LAX for yelling, “bomb.” If that’s true, he’s played his last game as a Niner. I’ll make damn sure of it.

  14. bullitNo Gravatar says:

The draft priorities might have just changed.
This is beyond stupid and you are right for once Denny if this holds true as reported..

  15. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

WTF has happened lately to the conduct and comportment of 49er players? I’m at a loss. But I know when the increase started. There’s one common denominator…

Did we fire Jim Harbaugh yet?

  16. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Apparently Aldon Smith said one of the several magic words you don’t say when going through airport security.
He said bomb because he was the guy they pulled out of line to do a random search.
This might be spun that he was joking or that he was intoxicated.
He’s just plain stupid and out of control. Not going to go well because he still has to get in front of a judge in a couple of weeks for his DUI.
If drunk it appears the rehab didn’t work and all the goodwill the NFL was going to give him is down the toilet.

  17. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

How many times have I said it before? Our team under Harbaugh’s watch is a complete embarrassment and laughingstock. Where’s the discipline? Where’s the control? The team has run amok under his watch. I’ll say it again, worst coach in 49er history.

Did we fire Jim Harbaugh yet?

  18. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Looking for a silver lining means we might be able to sign Iupati and Crabtree now.

  19. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Denny

I disagree. Unless you run a concentration camp it’s still a free country in the offseason.
When it comes down to it only Aldon Smith and Culliver keep repeating mistakes. This is strike three for Aldon.

  20. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Football needs to be a concentration camp. It needs to be run by a taskmaster with 53 slaves. For the few athletes who are gifted and privileged to play in the NFL, you lose certain rights. Privacy first and foremost. The NFL is not real life. It’s not the life you and I live.

They should know the deal when signing up. It comes with the territory.

  21. BergerNo Gravatar says:

I can’t say Aldon is the brightest player we’ve ever had.

  22. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

I can’t stress this fact enough: this team has become an embarrassment and complete laughingstock with its off the field activities under Harbaugh’s regime. “Above reproach” Harbaugh said of his players. Called the Seahawks cheaters for their PED use, then proceeded to sign Eric Wright who had his own PED issues.

Harbaugh is a sanctimonious lying sack of shit hypocrite. Add to the fact that he’s the biggest Big Game loser of all time. I ask you.

Did we fire Jim Harbaugh yet?

  23. Del Mar DennisNo Gravatar says:

Bullit, you know what this team needs? “The Walk of Punishment.”
Strap ’em to a cross and leave ’em left to die in public.
If they’re lucky maybe the Khaleesi will walk by and offer them some water.

  24. Grumpy GuyNo Gravatar says:

If TSA had been around in 1991 you know Charles Haley would have done this.

TO and Tim McKyer could not keep their mouths shut either.

So, yeah, Aldon was apparently a knucklehead here, but it’s not an entirely new phenomenon… it’s just that the world is a lot quicker to react to stupidity in this century.

  25. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

I’ve suggested a simple way around this issue years ago Grump –

  26. Unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Good for you, Dennis. Stop watching. I for one won’t miss the constant whining.

  27. Unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Grump, if Aldon was drunk, he!’s either doing rehab for 6 months or he’s getting suspended for 8 games, if not the year.

  28. Unca_chuckNo Gravatar says:

Hey, Dennis why don’t you live by the standards you preach?

  29. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Today’s charge is false report of a bomb which is a felony.
He has 3 felony weapons charges pending as well as a DUI.
If I were the front office I would not count on Aldon for the 2014 season.
I also would say if this knucklehead doesn’t have the structure
of football to keep him occupied Aldon is apt to do other illegal stupid things.

  30. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Makes you wonder what went on in Mizzou, that never saw the media attention given an NFL Pass Rusher Bullit.
    Kid is out of control.

He’s almost beginning to smell like a Comp Pick in the making.
He seems to be in serious need of constant monitoring.

  31. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Former NYG LT was equally out of control.
For LT, the get-it-now-in-realtime media didn’t exist back then.

Drug testing was nearly non-existent as well.
LT admitted to having his pee donated by willing participants during drug testing too.

Funny how many people look the other way, especially when there’s a dominant athlete on the Roster.

  32. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I forgot about Aldon’s Jan 2012 arrest for DUI in Miami.
Today was strike 4 for Aldon.
I’d suspend him until he cleared up all his problems.
Can’t see how he can focus on football with all this happening.
Suddenly we should think of drafting Kyle Van Noye, Jeremiah Attaochu or Trent Murphy.

  33. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Add Kareem Martin, Ra’Shede Hageman, Will Clarke and Chris Smith to that list too Bullit.
    Lot’s of options available.

  34. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

I like James Gayle from Va Tech also.

No problem at all with Trent Murphy either.
Almost a shoe-in for us, as a former Stanford product too.
Fangio likely has him on the short list I’d imagine.

  35. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

I also have Demarcus Lawrence from Boise on my list.
More of a DE but, he’s worth consideration as a pass rusher.

  36. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

There’s a small school OLB, Howard Jones from Shepherd, I posted awhile back too.

On the short side for me, maybe more of an ILB but, he got after the QBs pretty well.
Long arms (34-1/8″) and an excellent vert (40.5″) in Indy.

Almost an automatic for Baalke with the long arms too.

  37. winderNo Gravatar says:

Hard to believe someone in his position could be so stupid. It has to be the money because it certainly did a number on his head. Time to cut-bait with Aldon, what a waste.
