It’s Crowded at the Bottom

As the 2018 season enters the home stretch, many of you have already cast your thoughts forward to the 2019 season. And some of you have evidently dozed off and lost all interest. But the Outsider is duty bound to stay the course and continue to chronicle the nuances of yet another disappointing season.

Actually, “nuances” might be a bit of a lipstick on a pig effort. After Sunday’s strange day, featuring a Raiders’ win in Arizona, the 49ers find themselves in a three way tie for the first pick in the 2019 Draft and dead last in the entire NFL this year.

When we watch the team play, they look reasonably competitive, even entertaining. They just don’t ever win. Maybe that’s because they are a young team that hasn’t learned how to win. Or their young HC hasn’t learned how to win. Or they just aren’t very good and it eventually shows up on the scoreboard.

Which leads us to the warm seat occupied by newbie GM John Lynch. His first two drafts, both located in the top ten area, have produced only three players who are sure fire keepers — TE George Kittle (fifth round), RT Mike McGlinchey (first round), and LB Fred Warner (third round). WR Trent Taylor and ILB Reuben Foster both looked like keepers last year, but have been mostly invisible this year. The other fourteen draftees are all guys that could be replaced in a heartbeat by someone better or simply replaced period.

So the last six games still possess plenty of drama. We’ll see HC Kyle Shanahan continue to deflect all blame toward the players and away from himself and his hand-picked DC Robert Saleh, i.e., everything is Lynch’s fault. We’ll not see much of Lynch or (thankfully) the Niner CEO Jed York. We might see the first hint of a schism develop between the GM and HC. And we might see, just as mildly interested bystanders, the AFC Title game Jaguars sneak up from the rear and become this year’s number one draft pick. And adios Blake Bortles.

If they use strength of schedule instead of head to head then I guess it’s true. But there is still a lot of football ahead and who knows. Both Lynch and KS screwed the pooch with their Solomon and Pettis picks. Soloman has proven to be not all that and Pettis looks like he’s gonna be fragile throughout his career for however long that is. Saleh has got to go, there really is no one else to blame even though you could spread the blame around for that. There is still time to reinvent but that window will close in a year or two.

  2. robNo Gravatar says:

IMO the only bad pick in 2017 was Joe Williams ! 2018 remains to be seen . If Pettis can get his act together and stay healthy add him to McGlinchey and Warner and we’re rolling ! The injuries to Mckinnon and Garoppolo may just turn into blessings in disguise for us ! I already have a WR with our 1 and a Pass rusher with our 2 in mind !

    For the yearly visit.

This just seems like a “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory” team. This reminds me of so many other years in the past decade – the Niners can lose any way you want. Lose close games. Lose by a huge amount. Lose defensively. Lose on offense.

Kyle has not yet impressed me as a coach with a plan. I don’t have a feeling that this is a team that is young, but learning. These don’t seem like growing pains. They seem like chronic back pain.

I look forward to a good draft and good free agent acquisitions. I’m glad we haven’t heard from Jed this year. That will be the real sign that everything is headed straight to hell again.

MNF is killing it this season.

  7. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Looks like we’ll be facing Jameis on Sunday.
Don’t hold your breath for that Top Slot just yet.
The question becomes which is more inept, Jameis or our Defense?

All the makings of a sorority pajama party complete with a Co-Ed pillow fight.

  9. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Looking at the rosters of both teams tonight and embarrassed to even think we belong.

We are the new Cleveland Browns.

  10. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

Now that was a football game. A real contest between two teams loaded with great players and coaches in all phases.

So far from where the Niners have steered their ship lately I doubt you can still get there from here, with the leadership now in place anyway.

Kudos to all involved in the game tonight. (with the notable exception of the zebras and ESPN who obviously favored the Chiefs)
Whoever that guy in the booth with Witten is needs to say something, anything, without hyping the shit out of it, at least once in awhile. Really hard to listen to for more than 30 seconds.

  11. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Need to see Tarvarius Moore get needed reps at CB. Why wait. Let the learning curve start now. Same with Marcel Harris.

Where is Julian Taylor. More DJ Reed at FS.

Anything to ice a losing effort.

    Skeebs….you Da Man 😀
Back in business on the move.

  13. bullitNo Gravatar says:

John Lynch signed Matt Breida as a undrafted free agent when he first got here.
Breida also had offers from the Cowgurls, Aints and Dolphins.
Breida might be the biggest surprise of this season

This week is homecoming for Breida who has a bunch of family members and friends in attendance at Tampa.

  14. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

NoFear I’d love for us to find a qualified LeBeau protege and return to that style of a 3-4.
Son of Bum was a great add for McVay.
Saleh? Not tickling my Defensive appetite. I’ve seen enough…..

  15. bullitNo Gravatar says:

If the team lacks an Earl Thomas at Safety, why not go after Earl Thomas? He’s hurt now but he’s a UFA next season and will be 30 years old.

I am truly surprised how good Dick Sherman is. I hate that guy but as a shutdown corner he has my respect. When he retires they should offer him a DB coaching job.

  16. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Would it surprise you that the Niner D is ranked 10th in yards given up? 27th in points given up
They rank dead last in turnovers created so that’s where they are severely lacking. Not being able to force turnovers makes the defense seem more anemic than it actually is.

  17. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Lack of pass rush has to be a major reason for low turnovers. Since Aldon did low turnovers start happening.

  18. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

To help QB’s learn to read D, some at Stanford developed that vritual reality program. One of those need to be developed so FS learn how to read O.

Is something like this in use anywhere. Our coaching does not seem to be sinking in to the DB neurons on the team.

  19. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Some marvel at the Ram defense under Son of Bum.
The last 4 games opponents have put up on average 500 yards on that D and given up 38.5 points a game.

    Is that the new normal?

  20. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

    49ers = GOOD!
    Rams = BAD!
Wow! am I a foozball geneous!!!

  21. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

Wade is a good defensive guy running his own system and has the players who fit it.

The problem with the Niners D is it’s trying to copy someone else’s system and the GM can’t find the right fits.

I’m quite sure if the league would go for it, Shanahan would name himself the head coach, GM and all three coordinators.

I’m a fan of LeBeau and his style of defense but someone has to call the defense in a game and copy cats usually fall short trying to imitate. No one has run a copy of the Walsh offense or the Buddy Ryan defense to match the originals. Mainly because a big part of the success of these schemes is their innovation.

The Niners need an innovator not a copy cat. They had Fangio, but he was a Harbaugh guy so he had to go. He’s not doing so bad in Chicago though. As I said, they seem to be success averse in the York era. To be fair they probably wouldn’t know good football if it bit ’em in the ass. And it has.

  22. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Bucs TE OJ Howard put on IR from ankle injuries in game Sunday.

  23. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Here is the Dick LeBeau coaching tree

    Darren Perry
    Jerry Olsavsky
    Tim Krumrie
    Kevin Greene
    Greg Lloyd
    Rod Woodson
    Carnell Lake
    Ray Horton

Ray Horton is the only guy that’s been a DC. His last gig was with the Browns who canned him after one season.

Nobody on that list jumps out at you as most are position coaches and very few coordinators.

  24. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

NoFear this piece from Peter King is an example of creativity in motion.
I’ve always respected the LeBeau/Parcells models, along with Bill of course.
Andy Reid is a shining example of the Old School Walsh System still enjoying relevance too.

Seems the ex-Parcells guys are still doing it right as well.

  25. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Can’t help but to draw the comparison of the ‘Bust’ topic between Goff and Solomon Thomas too.
Funny how ‘Un-Busted’ Goff is now with McVay vs Fischer huh?
By comparison, did Lynch see Thomas as an ex-Chum from Stanford or, a good piece for Saleh?
With what looks like a record setting Defensive Line Draft coming, Lynch better score some keepers from the lot.
I still favor the Interior Pocket collapsing variety that can move around. Looking forward to seeing what DT Quinnen Williams from ‘Bama has that might align to some of my favorite 9ers of the past, like Ted and Michael and Bryant.

These guys are going to get Drafted very early from the looks of things –

  26. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

I’m seriously thinking he might be my Top candidate right now –

  27. winderNo Gravatar says:

Even though our season is firmly in the crapper it’s still way to early for me to think about who our `1st rd draft pick will/should be for next year. All I know is they better get it right this time or it will be time to re-evaluate. I want to see how we do finishing out the season, one thing our team has is a no quit attitude and I just want to see how they play against Seattle and Chicago. I think the Rams will lay down the final game so that is no yardstick.

  28. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

    I hear ya Winder.
It sucks to suck but, I’m a Draft Junkie too.
When life deals lemons, make lemonade 😀
Just planning ahead for ways to improve.

Whether it’s players or Coaches? I can’t say at this point.
We are what our record says we are. Gotta improve.
Higher Picks don’t guarantee squat if you don’t do it right but, the odds are in their favor to get better talent or, make better deals to increase Picks.
I’ve always appreciated the Scouts that find the diamonds in the rough and, sneak them in where no one else can.

“Here is the Dick LeBeau coaching tree”

    Where’s Keith Butler?

  30. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Wasn’t Joey Porter there for LeBeau?

  31. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

My kids and I were in Canton for Jerry in ’10.
LeBeau went in that year too.
Place was packed with Steeler players in attendance for his inauguration. Out in the crowds with us as Fans.
My Boys were just pointing at them saying ‘Hey isn’t that…so and so?’
Awesome event. Subsequently ruined when we returned for Eddie and absolutely no players were in Gen Pop.

  32. bullitNo Gravatar says:

That LaBeau tree was taken off a Steeler’s fan sight.

  33. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Here is that fan sight. No Keith Butler. Sorry but I’m not an expurt on the Steelers

  34. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I consider the present roster situation as the failure of Baalke’s drafts.
When you have a roster that has one draft pick a year that sticks from your last 7 drafts, that’s a depleted roster.

Still too early to pass judgement on Lynch’s drafts.

Halfway through the season and some are labelling certain players busts.

If I don’t see positive results in year 4 then I’ll be super critical of Lynch/Shanahan. I am tired of the stupid cycle of hiring new coaches every year or two. With Jimmy G and Mackinnon back next year and a healthy Foster at LB this team might be 3 players away from being solid playoff contenders.

  35. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Last time I looked this was a 49ers blog.

I hate the Rams just like the Seahags and Cowgurls.

The Rams don’t impress me even with all the money they spent.

Saying their defense is among the best is putting lipstick on a pig.

Rams have a lot of big name players but they are giving up yards and points which is something a dominant defense doesn’t do. Where are the three and outs?

  36. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

The Rams got relevant with huge Draft deals.
It pays to suck sometimes, when guys like Jerruh, and Danny, think 1 guy will get them into the SB.
Lynch needs to tank and play the Gruden game.
Baalke was a victim of that Coaching carousel too in a way.
He got no support from within IMO.
Got Harbaugh aboard and no Scouting support.
    Total shit show.
    Turn the page….
    Lynch has support. Good step.

  37. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Baalke was the hub of that carousel with help from lil Jed.

Tomsula was not qualified to be a head coach and got the job by being a rat.

Gase has turned out to be a .500 coach and his offense has ranked in the bottom 5 in his 3 years in Miami. I wonder if Gase/Fangio would’ve worked but with Baalke as the GM and his drafts that combo was doomed for failure.

  38. NoFearNo Gravatar says:

Most of the time coaching trees cover coaches who worked under a particular head coach. LeBeau is a little thin on head coaching. But if you’re looking at defensive coaches who learned their craft under LeBeau, Keith Butler is one at the top of that list.

Such crappy defense on Monday night. Three defensive TDs, almost four but for the ruling of forward pass instead of fumble.
Seven forced turnovers, eight sacks and three interceptoins.

Aaron Donald had two strip sacks, 14.5 sacks on the season.

Both teams had secondaries weakened by injuries and both offenses were good enough to take advantage of the other’s problems.

Injuries are a poor excuse as every team suffers with them but if you’re going to excuse the Niners for it, other teams should be allowed the same standards of judgment.

The Rams are not just lucky in being early drafters. If that were true, the Niners would be in the middle of another dynasty. The Rams were willing to make some hellacious deals to get the players they wanted.

If you’re a fan of the laundry, good for you. Who cares about any other team? But if you’re a fan of football you can appreciate other franchises putting good teams on the field, too.

  39. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Bullit Gase was courted heavily by Baalke and got no support from Jed.
Fangio was linked to Harbaugh so, of course, Jed nixed him too.
Baalke Drafted (I hope) for the HC he was working with at any given time.
Jed created the HC carousel, not Baalke.
Baalke brought in Harbaugh, not Jed.
    Jed/Paraag/Harbaugh/Baalke couldn’t coexist.

  40. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Here is a refresher as to what happened with Gase and it had to do with giving Jimmy T the DC job which Gase would not agree to.

And how soon we forget when Mangini and Oneil were the DCs and the Niners were dead last in the defensive rankings getting motorboated every week. Saleh has them in the top half of the NFL this year.

  41. winderNo Gravatar says:

NJ-I don’t really know what went on with the Niners during Harbaugh’s last year and I know Jed stuck his nose in things. However, Baalke’s drafts speak for themselves. Even though Baalke got Harbaugh in the door their relationship was not good after a couple of his drafts. I think Baalky was the one whispering in Jed’s ear the whole time. His last year here was very telling especially when he was out there trying to coach the players. Pretty sure he had a big ego and not much to back it up.

  42. winderNo Gravatar says:

NJ- I’m glad you study the drafts I get most of my info from my two favorite blogs. I agree with bullit about our roster being totally depleted with baalky’s drafts. All I know is what I read about and everything I have read about Peters and Mayhew(sp) has been positive. But I think we struck out on a few guys and to me Witherspoon is one of them.

  43. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

When the Lebeau tree came up, my immediate connection was Dom Capers of the GB Packers, ex as of Jan 2018.

Looked at both and Capers was PIT DC 1992 to 94. Lebeau was DB coach then. He played CB and S earlier. So they had to have the mind meld during that time. Lebeau took over DC in 95 for some years. Left then came back as DC 2004 to 2014.

    Who started the zone blitz.

  44. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Bullit history has been written with Baalke and is what it was.
One point I’ll make is what Winder posted about Peters/Mayhew. They are there to support Lynch. Who was there to support Baalke?
It’s obvious to me that Jed placed way too much value and authority in Paraag. I’m of the opinion that Baalke had his hands tied to a great extent because Paraag interfered.
Feuding and back biting became rampant when Harbaugh arrived.
Winning between the lines is what matters in this game. Harbaugh did that yet Jed couldn’t be happy with it.
    This is where we are.

Slate cleaned of winning Coaches while the rebuild goes on.
Hoping for success of course but, Jed, Paraag and the York’s remain.
Hope they learned a hard lesson in the process.

  45. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Power struggles between Owners and HCs put us right in line behind Jerruh and Danny.
Leave football to the football guys.
The good ones win, and hang around for a reason, their Owners give them all the football guys they need to succeed.
And you rarely hear from, or about them.

  46. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

NJ, since you are keen on a Suh like big man in the middle with great interior pass rushing can you make combine comparisons with Suh to your candidates. Do any have Donald like burst for that first step advantage. TIA

  47. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Just one of many articles on the draft. Attachou, etc has definitely been a learning experience and should force heightened scrutiny from coaching staff and consultants.

Is Von Miller a SAM on downs 1,2 and edge on passing downs. Why aren’t they playing Pita to evaluate. Dekoda Watson and Pita should be getting all SAM reps at minimum for last 6 games.

I hope they stick with Witherspoon and Colbert (IR’d) for next year and let coaching staff up their performance. This needs to be a front seven D draft.

Without QB’s do not expect many trade ups in 1st rd.

  48. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Some of these edge guys could be SAM then edge like Von Miller. Bruce Irvin at SEA may have done this too.

  49. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Happy Turkey Day

Baalke had Tom Gamble to assist him. They say incompetent people are reluctant to hire those who can threaten their position and succeed them and who knows if that was the case with Baalke.
Baalke thought he was more important to the success of the Niners and convinced Lil Jed that Harbaugh was expendable and could be replaced.

What I do know is there was a huge debate on this blog that GMs were expendable but great coaches were hard to come by.
It came down to Baalke or Harbaugh and Baalke’s PR campaign was that Harbaugh disrespected Jed York by kicking him out of a team meeting.

Big mistake replacing the coach especially seeing Baalke’s report card as the GM. Lil Jed listened to Baalke and the team went into the dumpster and the rest is history.

The 49ers were the losers when they let Harbaugh go.That excuse that Harbaugh was let go because he disrepected the owner is laughable.

  51. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Looked at some ninersnation comments on Witherspoon.

Passing game in nfl using 3 WR set more, so DB’s are nickel and dime as much as 90% now. More going on out there. Bunch patterns, rubs, etc causing a lot of confusion.

Young, inexperienced CB and S need to communicate, especially if pattern matching. OC’s realize this. Last year may have been more 2 WR and they found the flaw.

This needs to be coached better as well as time and study for players to soak it in. Lots of injuries not helping. Yes, sometimes it’s situational awareness and common sense.

The best DB’s are not perfect either. Pass rush covers up backfield breakdowns too.

Fangio had experienced DB’s for this reason. His DB’s did lots of Pattern Matching and could cover and communicate at the same time.

Ward is screwing up. He plays a lot of positions and lines up wrong at times.

These guys need an offseason. No more rookies please. If Ward and Exum and Witherspoon are screwing up, putting in Tarvarius Moore now would be disaster.

OTOH start him immediately all 6 games. Bosa Bosa!!

  52. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Like this a lot. All these edge guys will get heavy scrutiny just short of an anal exam. We could be taking two, edge and a SAM/nickel edge.

SAM may not be on the field much with all of the passing in 3 WR sets. Is it wise to spend the first two picks like this. Or edge and an Aaron Donald type DT that needs developing.

Lynch and Shanahan gave fans the finger and disregarded their pledge of zero tolerance to pull enough strings to keep this guy.

Might be a bit early for the I-told-you-so’s before the particulars come out but all his defenders here and especially in the SC DA’s office ought to be more than a bit humiliated now. I’d include Lynch and Shanahan but both of these yahoos are too arrogant to realize how stupid they look now.

I’m sure they are feverishly looking for someone to pay off as we speak.

We can lose just as easily with him, or Reuben, at this point.

  61. bullitNo Gravatar says:

    Latest on Foster

“UPDATE 2:40 a.m. ET: The Tampa Police Department released a statement regarding Foster’s arrest.
Foster had a verbal altercation with a female characterized as having an “on-again, off-again” relationship with Foster over the last three years. The victim claimed Foster had slapped a phone out of her hand, shoved him in the chest and slapped her with an open hand on the right side of her face. Officers saw a one-inch scratch on the victim’s left collar bone.
He was been charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence.”

The optics look very bad for Foster, especially getting in trouble on a road game. Bruce Miller slapped a cellphone out of his significant others hand and he never played for the Niners again.
Foster is just a knucklehead much like Aldon who just can’t behave.
I was a Foster advocate just like I was hoping Aldon would come around but these guys chose to piss away a career where they can make as musch in a year that it takes a lifetime for the average guy.

  62. bullitNo Gravatar says:

A later round pick to replace Foster

Joe Dineen Jr 6’3″ 230 lbs LB who is projected as a 3rd day draft pick.

He’s be a great value pick in 5th/6th round

  63. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

“All indications … point to the accuser in last night’s Reuben Foster arrest being Elissa Ennis, the same woman who accused Foster of domestic violence back in California in February but later testified that she had lied ‘to ruin his career.'”

If that’s true, Foster should be cut for unfathomable stupidity.

  64. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

“49ers announced they are releasing Reuben Foster.”

    WR Marquise Goodwin (personal matter)
    WR Pierre Garcon (knee)
    RB Alfred Morris
    G Joshua Garnett (thumb)
    T Shon Coleman
    DT D.J. Jones

  66. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Stop me if you’ve heard this one: “Jimmie Ward injured, walking off the field.”

  67. winderNo Gravatar says:

  68. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Draft ties are determined by strength of schedule. We play the same teams except for 2 games. CHI is 8-3 while GB and MIN are around .500.

If we are tied with ARI in wins we will pick after them because we play CHI.

  69. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Ward broke his arm. Another season ends with him on IR. So long, Jimmie.

  70. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Wow. Will watch game later on Gamepass.

PHI has a great pass O with Evans and DeSean Jackson. OJ Howard IR’D last week. PHI came into game with 3 D starters out, 2 safeties and LB Lavonte David. With a poor D depleted, we still could not score.

  71. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

4 sacks by each one of their starting front four.

Without Lavonte David and 2 safeties Mullens should have had his way with Tampa DB’s. Goodwin and Garcon missing hurt. Other WR not ready for prime time?

    God we suck.

  72. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

FS personnel got depleted in a hurry.

    Adrian Colbert IR’D
    Jimmy Ward broken forearm
    DJ Reed got injured today

So go outside for depth or move Tarvarius Moore to his natural college position . There is a huge void to fill.

  73. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Bond on opening drive chest hit on Mullens on no pass pro at all. Is this why a mediocre game happens.

No Goodwin or Garcon allows Kittle and Pettis to get safety over the top. Ward could not get through opening drive before IR time.

    Oops, 2nd drive.

The rapist to Bratz opening seperation on Tartt in back of right end zone. Sherman a teacher, not a full CB anymore.

Mullens getting mauled on every pass. DC’s know to rush IOL.

Where did Goodwin go. Tahiti courtesy of FO.

Carlton Davis a big press CB we could have had instead of Pettis.

  75. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Humphries having openings in LB land.

Mullens hit by Carl Nassib before release.

Good coverage on Kittle and Mullens forces it. Punt.

    Koetter saved his job today?

Witherspoon is a press CB. Why is he off LOS by 10 yards ever.

    Unfingbelievable. Why?

  76. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

1st done. Rapist has lots of time in pocket. Stats will look good.

Kittle has 2nd most YAC after Barkley. Others are rb’s.

Breida looks great in OZ. Pettis on Carlton Davis open with no contact by CB for TD.

Breida 48 yds on the drive.

  77. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

    Mullens taking hits.

Sack by JPP , first with double digit sacks since 2005 Simeon Rice. McCoy gets cheap sack on QB stumble. 3rd and 30 and draw to Breida for big gain but punt anyway.

    Witherspoon and off coverage, why?

  78. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Nassib had Mullens in a sack over McGlinchey but Mullens throws into ground. No penalty, no sack.

    JPP playing injured all year.

Vita Vea does an Aaron Donald on Person. He is a back up, cannot handle the top players at all. Lots of Homer’s out there.

  79. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

    So Exum is FS now?

Humphries in LB land for TD. 27-9 from the rapist.

    Matt Breida, meet Vita vea.

Vea for 2nd sack right through staley.

So much for our pass pro today. How will PFF Grade us.

  80. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

OZ clicking, Breida and McKinnon are all we need. Big back for short yardage.

Witherspoon ok for CB2. Offseason to work on the mental aspect.

Mullens saw his receivers covered and had to hold longer and sacks going to happen.

All those high D picks for this.

Small receivers at higher risk for injury.

We only have 5 picks with 1st through 4th and a 6th. May be wrong on the day 3 ones. Make the first 4 count.

  81. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

3 teams with 2 wins and 3 teams with 3 wins. So we are most likely #1 to #6.

Big Nasties win in this game Bakkentom.
Fat Man in the Middle for me please.
Destroy the pocket, influence the game.
    Not too complicated.
I’ve got the OC from ND on my radar for April too, Sam Mustipher.
Shopping for my RG too. Thinking the kids in the Midwest Divisions at the moment. Lots of research to do….

Well. The good news is, we still have the first pick for this week at least.

The bad news is everything else.

  84. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

I screwed up on the draft position comment. CHI is NFC North so SF and ARI play them and the other three.

Being #4 in NFC West we got NYG and TB. ARI got the next team in East and South. NYG and TB look to be at bottom of order again.

If we lose out we will have lowest SOS and #1 pick.

Gruden’s behavior allows us to tank. We determine our playcalling and personnel. If LAR goes low, we need to go lower. No matter what.

  85. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Holding top 3 allows Lynch to parlay into multiple Picks if he has a good game plan going in.
Gruden is doing it right although it’s totally wrong from a League perspective. But…Who cares?

    Agree Bakkentom.
If Shanny is/was really trying in TB today, he sucks.
If he’s pulling a Gruden, he’s doing VERY well.
Hard to know where the DMarc Line is with Lynch and Shanny.

    Are they smart like Fox?
    Dumb like Rock?
    We’re the Hekawi?
