Falcons 41, 49ers 13

The 49ers rolled to their 13th straight loss Sunday in Atlanta, extending their franchise record for consecutive losses. They also set the franchise record for most rushing yards given up in a season, which now stands at 2,468 yards. And there are still two games left!

“Rolled” is probably a bit an understatement. Rolled over, maybe. Stomped, trampled, gutted … you get the picture. It was 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. For the rest of the game, the Falcons doubled their total and the Niners trotted out their usual pedestrian 13-17 points, 13 in this case.

After the game, Jed York‘s creepy parental entity rubbed salt into Niner fans’ wounds by terming the rumors about Jed losing power “completely false.” Thanks a lot, creepy entity. Of course, the fact that entity had to speak for the sperm dribble is a de facto indication of who runs the show in Santa Clara, and it isn’t Jed. Apparently, the Yorks don’t mind offering up their idiot son for public shame and humiliation, so long as the money keeps pouring in to their bank account.

At Chip Kelly‘s presser following the game, he continued to explain the losses like they were nail-biters where a specific play here or there could have changed things, while completely ignoring the big picture of “Hey! Moron! You’ve lost 13 straight! Can the play-here-play-there routine. It was 41-13! A corporate disaster.” How about some good old fashioned “Wow. They beat our butts good today”?

Kelly remains affable through it all — somehow. He’s not going to give us the “blank, distraught Mike Singletary face” or the “sweating fugitive cornered in an alley Jim Tomsula face.” No, it’s all just another day at the office for the Chipster.

The players seem to have adopted Kelly’s who-gives-a-shit attitude. It’s all about getting the paycheck now. Christian Ponder was activated for the first time this season. For no discernible reason, since he didn’t play, even though the game was a blow out. Maybe Kelly wanted to see how he looked in his uniform. This bizarre move relegated the only QB who has won a game this year, Blaine Gabbert, to the street clothes bench.

Meanwhile, GM Trent Baalke is probably cleaning out his desk at 4949 Centennial. He’s the only guy left in the building who hasn’t yet been thrown under the bus by the York crowd, which makes him this year’s sacrificial offering. It won’t be enough, but it’s all we’ll likely get. As an enraged fan base transitions to a barely interested fan base.

The Vegas books have had a bad season this year (meaning gamblers are having a good season) in large part because the public keeps betting against the Browns and 49ers, and the Browns and 49ers keep on not just losing, but losing by more than the point spread.

  2. Phil fanNo Gravatar says:

“…not just losing, but losing by more…”. Yes because more losing is what we do best. Disinterested fan base certainly describes me. Luckily there are numerous options for being interested in so the epic sack of crap that is the Niners is none too important.

Now the question is ‘how will we find a way to lose to the Rams?’

  3. Mr FletchNo Gravatar says:

It would be easier if there was any sense that anyone at 4949 cared about how historically poorly the team plays. I don’t have any sense that there is a plan or even the opportunity to make good snap decisions. We’ll have a high draft pick. So what? Who’s doing the picking? What confidence can we have that this draft will be any better than the last three?

It has been very easy to spend my Sundays watching Red Zone instead of the Niners games. It’s been very easy to spend Sundays on non-football activities. I just can’t find any enthusiasm to support a poor product.

So you feel sorry. Poor xxxx, yyyy, zzzz niner fans.

How about talent heavy teams that screwed the pooch. Jaguars and Rams.

I get it. They can still be optimistic. Us and the Browns, depressing.

  5. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

We’re not the only ones bailing on the team:

Glenn Dorsey, Blake Bell, Nick Bellore, Quinton Patton, Jimmie Ward, and Marcus Martin all took the injury route off the field Sunday.

  6. SpitbloodNo Gravatar says:

I bailed on the team. Proud of it. You morons make me laugh thinking things will change after Baalke is gone. The problem is Jed York, and I won’t watch the 49ers until Jed York is gone.

You can get rid of Chip Kelly and Trent Baalke. You can get rid of Colin Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert, the whole team for that matter. But the results won’t change until you get rid of the snake of an owner who isn’t a leader of men. If he can’t be a leader, how do you expect the team to do well? Under any circumstances?

But feel good about staying loyal. It’s an accomplishment. A huge waste of your time, but an accomplishment none-the-less. Bravo.

It’s about preserving our voice as invested 9er fans Spit.
The Yorks are the quintessential Evil Empire in this entire debacle.
Business over football seems to be the mantra.
They’ve systematically ransacked everything related to Football Ops in favor of ‘Yes Men’ and, the Corporate ledgers’ bottom line.
Until these feckless morons are run out of the picture and, replaced with qualified Football Guys, I’ll continue to pound on them.
They’ve proven that winning doesn’t matter, so much as having the upper hand.

Agree about Jed. And John, and Denise.

Anyone want to sneak into the airport and do a little *maintenance* on the York family jet?

Otherwise, we may have 30 or 40 years of this shit ahead.

  9. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

I’d like to sneak into the Owner’s Box on game day with a vintage 9ers helmet and, beat him senseless with it Grump.
Reduce that melon-sized head of his until it’s the consistency of Jell-O and fits through the ear hole.

  10. NJ49erNo Gravatar says:

Then smear his remains on the Loser Banner and fly him over the empty stadium until the fuel runs out.
From there, crash and burn on top of his cabana.

Wow NJ. One of the govt ladies needs to get you in an anger management class.

  12. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Someone should tell Chip that the season was lost about 7 games ago and now it’s time to look to the future.
Another stupid statement similar to the “woodshed” comment saying he’s trying to win games.
Seriously??? Bein 2-14 is not going to make anyone feel better than 1-15. The team stinks and Chip Kelly owns all the losses as the Head Coach.

Chip is stealing getting paid $6.5 mil a year for this clusterphuck.

  13. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

    Just curious.

Are there any limits to O playcalling staff?

A lot of wannabes can be analyzing film for defensive tendencies and offensive play history, for each team.

A lot of “failed” or retired QB’s could have a long career doing this.

Example? Dan Marino and the Dolphins.

So why not keep Chip but greatly enlarge the O playcalling staff. Basically admitting Chip’s playcalling needs serious help.

    It is only York money.

  14. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Surprise, surprise Marcus Rush was plucked off the practice squad by the Jags.

Just fantastic news since the Niners lack a pass rusher.

    Another Baalke FO blunder????

  15. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Hard to know whom Baalke is working for now – 49ers or Broncos.

  16. WinderNo Gravatar says:

Nothing the Niners have done this year has made much sense. Baalky’s track record of player evaluation has been suspect for years. My guess is that he doesn’t give a crap about this team any longer and probably at this point isn’t going to do the Niners any favors.

  17. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Raiders have 7 in Pro Bowl. Team excellence matters, coaching and personnel.

Dorks selected a cheerleading “motivator” Singletary as HC. Why?

    Tomsula as HC, why?

Kelly had a better roster to work with. Team has no pro bowlers because they have given up.

  18. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Is Beadles the best C on the team? Read the comments, Kilgore assignment sound but does not get push.

Get rid of Marcus Martin, Joshua Garnett and Tiller are LG and RG. Beadles starter and Kilgore backup.

2017 draft picks spent other positions.

  19. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

    Excellent comment on Chip.

I should say I have nothing against Chip. I was as excited as anyone when they signed him. I thought he was going to be the answer. He wasn’t. Since then I’ve learned he’s not an NFL caliber head coach and I’m damned glad he’s not here any more.

Love that college players are starting to skip bowl games. Good for them – starting to wake up. They risk health after 40 for a college system that rakes in billions and they get paid nothing. If I’m a senior, pay me. If I’m a damn good junior, pay me. If I’m a sophomore, phuck it. I gotta play. But not for long. No Fear (except for anything that changes) would hate this idea. They signed a contract… blah, blah, blah…..

Wanna know the direction the NFL will continue to head? Von Miller states, “We gotta take care of each other out there.” LMAO. There goes America’s game. The NFL used to be warriors, fighting to dominate each other. Now the NFL is a bunch of Nancy boys who need to “Look out for each other so they all earn more.”

Tom Brady the best who ever played….. flag football.

Football is dead. The NBA? Baseball? Those are sports I’ll follow….

  21. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Read his full comment, then his follow on. NJ, with the Eagles nearby their grass looks very green from here. We are dried up manure.

Wentz got a third stringer’s workload in practice all during the off season and then unexpectedly got moved up to starter a week before the season began. He only played part of one preseason game, then got hurt. So they never had a chance to get his mechanics straightened out properly or even see what his tendencies would be in game situations. It takes time and lots of repetition to weed out old bad habits and replace them with good habits in body memory. He was supposed to be doing that as the backup to the backup all season. Instead he’s doing it on the field while taking live fire, and frankly it’s probably slowed his progress. As soon as some film got out on him defenses started taking away the stuff he’s comfortable with and his rough edges really started to show. It’s all pretty run of the mill rookie stuff, definitely fixable with an off season of solid work with a good coach. It’s obvious he’s got the raw tools and his intangibles are off the chart for a rookie. He’ll be fine.

“The 49ers have been outscored 144-43 after halftime since Colin Kaepernick became the starting quarterback Week 6.”

  23. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Last game against ATL Carlos Hyde has 13 carries and averaged 5.5 per carry. He needs more carries as he’s the best weapon they have. Kap in the same game averaged 5.5 yds per pass attempt.
There seems to be no continuity to an offensive scheme. Still not sure what Kelly brings other than his no huddle snap the ball quick approach which has totally been abandoned.

It has been estimated that the Niner defense has played over 2 more games than average teams this season with the exposure by an inept offense. All that extra time on the field has led to the rfash of injuries.

Simply put Chip Kelly is not a NFL head coach. Dressing 46 players for a game is quite different from college where they dress 85. That’s why Kelly has a ceiling and cannot sustain a team that will make it all the way to win a Super Bowl.

If the tailspin continues how can Jed bring back a coach who has just lost 15 games in a row and is counting?

  24. NoFear49erNo Gravatar says:

Spitblood, you have to be in serious contention for the biggest idiot alive. Being the hypocritical troll doesn’t help either.

College players getting paid is a separate issue from signing up to play football for a $200,000 scholarship to a four year degree if so desired and four or five years of living the high life while showcasing your skills to hit the lottery in the pro draft and then saying poor me I’m getting screwed by the man.

Either way, there’s a simple solution, don’t play college ball, go get a job and pay for your education instead, egads! the horror!

Small wonder you can’t hold a job and spend your life crying about how ‘the system’ is to blame and so unfair to career slackers.
