A Slice of Life

I might check back in later, but for now I’ll let NoFear carry the ball today. I’m headed off to the emergency ward in a few minutes for some chin music. I’ve been doing battle with a bad tooth since last Friday, and it’s whipping my ass pretty awful. Yesterday a big pus wad developed under my chin, making me look like an old pelican. This morning I’m noticing that my throat is closing up on me, too. I told my wife to just get a kitchen knife and slice it open, but she preferred to leave the liability to the emergency guys. A little chicken shit, if you ask me. But, I’m in no shape to argue. If you don’t hear from me again, it means the docs made too big of a slit.

NoFear’s Fotos

Vernon Davis’ 42 yard TD play on the sixth play of the game.

Despite Billick’s commentary about mixing personnel packages all six plays used “2 tights”.

One, a 1st and 10, had 2TE, 1FB and 1RB in a power I run over left guard. Not exactly a new look for us although Westbrook gained eight yards with it. The next play had Walker split wide but he motioned into the FB’s position in an offset I and we ran Westbrook for the first down.

The remaining plays in the series had Alex passing from under center except for the 3rd and 10 which had Alex in the shotgun. All pretty familiar sets.

My point being Billick can be just as FOS as any of the exuberant cheerleaders doing color and trying to rev up the base.

Skeebs- When your in pain above the shoulder your head tends to be in the boondocks. Keep your chin up!

The nice spread formation on the 42 yard TD was instrumental in getting VD so open in space. Excellent play design, excellent execution by the players.

A huge improvement on Sunday was, Moran Norris was in for only 18 plays and did not touch the ball. Unless we are running the ball like we did in Arizona, Norris should be sent to the boondocks.

Funny thing was, Berger, on at least 2 of those plays, Norris motioned to the slot. I about fell out of my chair.

Yes, I did see Norris motioning to change the formation to a spread. While you were falling out of your chair I was thinking, please don’t throw it to him! He would probably stop and wait for the pass while the perfect throw was sailing over his head.

Yeah, they didn’t bother putting anyone ON him, but he was out there.

At least it was a different look.

    Off with Skeebers head!

We’re gonna need a lot more luck if we plan on besting the Bolts. Both ILBs banged up. Spikes and Willis with those bulky casts will look like they just got discharged from the ER. Hope Skeebs got an autograph or two. Better yet, sign their cast.

Alex did step up. If not he doesn’t get the ball out. I noticed a couple of times in this game he threw balls that in previous seasons would’ve been batted from behind. This is one of those plays. He has tightened his delivery quite nicely.

I think if the DT doesn’t give us a free play here this would’ve had a high probability of being a hot read to VD.

And we all know how well VD does on those . . .

    Not so well!
