Sorry for the tardy game wrap up, guys. I was out of town for the weekend and didn’t get back until late Monday.
The delay did give me a chance to spend quite a bit of time gloating shamelessly. I was almost booted off my plane flight home by airport security for reckless cheerfulness. I kept telling them, “You don’t understand. Giving Russell Wilson two entire sets of downs from the ten yard line to win the game and seeing him FAIL – it doesn’t get much sweeter than that.” Dre Greenlaw!! Our hero!
Adding in the colossal blunder of Seattle HC Pete Carroll to get his team on the field in time to punch it in from the one yard line in a game that would be decided by an inch and you have yourself a double header of HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Two tormentors slain in one epic moment.
Of course, at the time, it was a bit sweaty on our side of the field, to say the least. Blowing a two score lead at the last second for yet another in a long list of Seattle heartbreaks. An unbearable indignity.
Deebo Samuel had another huge game. He’s emerged in the second half of the season as the star WR that has been missing in SF for a very long time. Between him and all-world TE George Kittle the Niners have an offense that is almost impossible to contain.
Kudos also to Jimmy Garoppolo who showed once again that no game is too big for him. Each time Seattle scored and 49er sphincters tightened in horror, there was Jimmy, cooly leading a drive to re-take control of the game. And Nick Bosa. The guy didn’t get any official sacks, but he was all over the field, relentlessly pressuring Wilson and making tackles everywhere. These two are the cornerstones of the team for many years to come.
2011 – 2012, 49ers owned the NFC West. 2013 – 2014, Seahawks. 2015 – 2016, Cardinals. 2017 – 2018, Rams.
The NFC West has been a perfect equal opportunity division this past decade. And Sunday the Niners took their rightful turn in the rotation again. It would be nice if they didn’t cough up the first game of the playoffs, especially if that game is yet another tussle with the Seahawks, but there’s no taking away from the amazing season the team has had.
Greenlaw and Bunz both wear #57. Bunz’s tackle was on 3rd down and Greenlaw on 4th down. Both will be milestones in the history of the San Francisco 49ers.

It’s great to be a Niner Fan!!!
Niners, always have to do it the hard way. Cardiac kids intentionally tormenting their fans.
Enough. Dee Ford needed to complete the DL cannot come soon enough. This season has shown the strong and weak points of the roster.
Have not seen game yet. We survived only from the delay of game penalty at one foot line.
Rosanne rosanadana, there is always something. From the lips of the prophet Gilda Radner.
“49ers bringing back DT Earl Mitchell.”
Good move. If he’s not completely out of shape.
Dorsey out as GM in Cleveland.
What a circus.
They reflect us a few years ago.
Dorsey likely got the axe for promoting Kitchens.
Almost like us and Tomsula?
I think he Niners finally got it right this time. What a nerve-wracking but totally fun season. Hope we can keep it going.
Battling for the Super Bowl sure as hell beats that BS of being on the “who will be our coach” merry go round.
Another Relief, no more big focus on the draft in filling big holes in roster.
Bringing back EMitch satisfies my endless appreciation for the fat man in the middle too.
NJ- I see where we signed DL Ray Smith to the practice squad today but i couldn’t find the Mitchell signing
Here you go, Winder:
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/12/31/report-49ers-bringing-back-earl-mitchell/
Thanks. I guess they haven’t signed him just yet.
I can see why Earl Mitchell is brought back. SEA came alive in 2nd half. Beast mode inside running.
AA stats almost zero for the night. This game and last Warner has very few tackles.
Incredible game. Niners are money for NFL this season.
Travis Homer made lots of plays, reflection on LB’s?
Waiting for JonnyDel and Madrid later in week.
Browns are interviewing 3 Niner assistants for the HC job.
Paasing game coordinator Mike Lafleur, Ruuning game coordinator Mike MxDaniel and DC Saleh. Also ex Niner OC Greg Roman is supposed to interview.
Looks like the Browns want to find out how the Niners are doing it because I can’t remember when 3 assistants from same team were interviewed for a Head Coashing job.
Sounds like Cleveland is interviewing just about everyone. I think they are fishing for HC, OC, and DC and everyone in between. I don’t think Saleh is ready for the big show yet but who knows. Cleveland is gonna be a mess for at least a couple more years.
Happy New Year Guys 😀
Has anyone been camped out around Jerruh World, to witness whether white, or black smoke is visible, in regard to Garrett’s fate?
The drama is killing us huh?
Such the thorough process isn’t it?
No wonder it’s ‘Mericas Team.
SMFH….
Happy 2020!!! Another Lombardi Trophy this year?? Why Not?
Jughead Jones just wants to play this out so he’s the center of attention.
Garrett should’ve been canned 5 years ago. Definition of insanity to keep doing same thing and expecting different outcome. How bout the Cowgurls!!!
Hard to find a Yes-Man (with leadership skills), who can plant his lips on Jerruh’s sphincter, while wearing a headset and, looking like he’s in control.
Takes a VERY special multi-tasker for that.
Jerruh can sit in his glass palace on game days on speaker phone. Garrett can’t. He’s on the sideline with cameras watching.
Jerruh is still paying for his hasty decision to fire Jimmy.
Now he can’t let go of Garrett.
PTJJD? 😀
The disintegration of Dallas is actually making the dead time a little nicer.
It looks to me that we will have another chance with the Seahawks again at home. I don’t think Philly has a chance. Hopefully it’s a very physical game.

Not bad, nice catch for OAK

Clelin Ferrell OAK in 15 games got only 4.5 sacks. Must have played injured most of the year?
NFL award coming up:

NFL Network lists these as the most interesting games of the year. Niners are in 4 of the 5.
49ers at Ravens
Texans at Saints
Seahawks at 49ers
49ers at Seahawks
49ers at Saints

Looking back the 2017 draft the worst of Lynch’s three so far. Failed big on first two picks but netted Kittle and Witherspoon. Second draft headliners McGlinchey, Warner, and have to include Garappolo.
Look positively to what team Peters/Mayhew/Lynch can do this offseason.
The team success spurs Pettis to stop being a diva. Need those few picks elsewhere in April. Pettis and Hurd to prove themselves in 2020.
Looks like with those 4 games we atoned for the big sin of dropping NFL attendance from Kap’s kneeling and social justice crap.
Goody owes us one.
Jonnydel on SEA, why so little from AA stats?

If you watch the Sugar Bowl tonight take a look at Baylor DT #93 James Lynch. He ‘s a load and pretty disruptive in the middle.
Also WR Denzel Mims is a guy to watch.
Yeh Bullit – Mims was on my radar already.
I’ll get a look at Lynch too 😀
My early suspicion for our 1st target is either WR or CB.
Love the fact that C Matt Hennesey from Temple declared too.
Waiting to see if he gets into the Combine mix at this point.
Homework for the Draft is just getting started.
We’ve got the luxury of seeing our 9ers in the Playoffs for a change.
I see Lynch is a Jr too. See if he declares.
Good numbers though.
32 games – 98 Tkls/32 TFL / 19 Sacks
Good production for a Fat Man in the Middle 😀
DMims has great size and excellent numbers.
6’3″/215 – 39 Games/181 Recs/2850 Yds/27 TDs along with a 15.7 YPC Avg.
Guessing he’s gonna be an invitee to Mobile too?
Mims indeed has accepted an invitation to Mobile 😀

NJ
Devin DuVernay WR from Texas had another outstanding game last night in the Alamo Bowl. He compares favorably to Deebo Samuel because he is built like a running back but was a track star in high school winning some sprint titles.
Mock drafts have 3 Bama WRs being taken in first round as well as LSU WR Jefferson
Gator Bowl tomorrow night has another of my ‘radar’ guys.
TN WR Jauan Jennings (6’3″/208)
Take a look if you can, and see what you think.
Devin Duvernay & Collin Johnson have also accepted an invitation to Mobile.
I’ll be paying attention 😀
Jauan Jennings will be in Mobile also –
Deebo’s former teammate from SCar will be there too.
Bryan Edwards – 6’3″/215
He’s got some excellent numbers, durable too.
48 Games / 234 Recs/3045 YDs/22 TDs/13 YPC Avg
Good looking group of WRs slated to play in Mobile all around.
I’ll be paying close attention to the WRs, IOL and DBs.
Wouldn’t rule out a ‘Tweener’ LB either.
We need a quick twitch, sure tackling edge guy, to chase down the likes of Murray and Wilson in our Division.
What’s your take on UT DB Brandon Jones?
He’ll be in Mobile and has some good tackling numbers from what I’m seeing.
Is he a S or CB?
NJ
I found Jones to be very inconsistent making a great play and then giving up an easy TD. The star of the UT secondary is only a Sophomore, Kaden Sterns who can play both Safety spots.
The defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl, Oregon Duck Brady Breeze was impressive. He’s a ball hawk but only a junior. Let’s see if he declares for the draft.
Celebrate last week’s victory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIdgtIhTemc
Phuck the 12th man, they brought back “the Boz”. Phuck the Seahags.
Put Wyoming LB Logan Wilson on the Mobile radar too.
I want to see how he moves.
He’s a tackling machine in terms of stats. 6’2″/250 –
402 Total Tkls/33.5 TFL/7 Sacks along with 10 Ints.
Probably more of a 3-4 candidate?
However, with 7 sacks I’d suspect he can play with his hand in the dirt.
Love the Ints as what would likely suggest coverage skills.
I have Wilson slated as a ‘sleeper’ replacement to Dee at this point?
Might be a candidate to replace Dee Ford if his ‘twitch’ is good enough?
Almost identical in size too.
Dee had 20.5 sacks in college while Wilson blows him away with total tkls.
These are my very early radar guys at LB –
Alabama LB Dylan Moses (6’3″/235)
TX Tech LB Jordyn Brooks (6’1″/240)
Wyo LB Logan Wilson (6’2″/250)
Devin DuVernay WR Texas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmGc87uWaG8
Early ‘Tweener’ will be in Mobile too –
DE Evan Weaver from Cal. 6’3″/235
Very light for a DE and might make a good Dime LB/SS?
He’s got over 400 Tkls to his credit too.
Want to see him move in pads also.
Like Duvernay’s hands Bullit –
Here’s my immediate reaction/comparison….
And he’s coming out in April.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDZYsawWK_I
I think Shanny would love to have Dobbins in the stable?
Dobbins would be a luxury and I don’t think Niners would spend draft capital with a high pick for a RB when they have fared so well with a stable of Free Agents.
I wonder if MacKinnon will ever play a down for the Niners.
Could he redo his contract to make it reasonable for Niners to consider him for next year?
At this point, I’m not sure there is a roster spot for MacKinnon. Unless we move Tevon for help on the O-line or such. And I doubt we’d do that for a guy who might have lingering knee issues. I think it’s most likely he’ll need to try to start over somewhere else.
Kwon Alexander is officially practicing with the team now ahead of schedule on his rehab.
If Taart and Alexander return this defense becomes a lot tougher.
FTA: “Honestly, on Brunskill, I would rather him start at right guard than spending a premium draft pick on an interior lineman. In Kyle Shanahan’s offense, your ability to pass protect is far more important than your ability to run block. Brunskill has played 474 snaps this season, and one person has gotten the best of him. That person is Aaron Donald. Just about everyone else that Brunskill has faced, the swing lineman has gotten the best of them.”
https://www.ninersnation.com/2020/1/2/21045591/49ers-offensive-line-was-slightly-above-average-during-the-regular-season
Also FTA: “It was a tale of two halves for Mike McGlinchey, who allowed the second-most sacks behind Skule’s six. There’s no way to sugarcoat it, but he wasn’t playing very well early in the season. Against Green Bay and Baltimore, McGlinchey looked like an All-Pro and the player that San Francisco expected when they took him so high. The first six games for McGlinchey: 11 pressures, two quarterback hits, and three sacks allowed. The final six games: Six pressures, zero quarterback hits, two sacks allowed. There were far fewer mistakes and more impact blocks, as well.”
That was a refreshing OL article from NN. JonnyDel gushes about mastery of O and quick pre and post-snap reads of D by Jimmy. Eventually the article for team pass-pro and sub 2.5 sec on blocks will come out.
Looks like we can go an offseason and leave the OL roster alone. If we trade down for two day 2 picks can see us spend one on an NT. That is a roster weakness that needs to be addressed.
From Wall Street Journal:
Ratings for National Football League games rose 5% in 2019, making it the most-watched season since 2016, the league said.
During the 2019 regular season, an average of 16.5 million people tuned in to watch NFL games, according to Nielsen data cited by the league.
This is the second straight season of viewership growth for the NFL, after it lost a chunk of viewers in 2017.
Goodell owes us, how about ARI’s forfeited pick in the draft in April.
Per PFF scores we have a very good team. Active players week 17 and season.

AFC South 2 : AFC East 0.
Amazing what happens to a QB when moved from a bad OL to a good OL paving the way for a decent RB.
Smart move for MIA to replace immobile Jose Rosen after 3 starts and wait for a better OL to work with.
Yesterday’s Patriots loss should give some perspective on the stete of both franchises (Pats/Niners) and choices made.
Pats decided to draft N’Keal Harry in round one and Niners took Deebo Samuel in round two. Pats opted to trade more draft capital for Sanu and Niners spent less on Sanders.
In their biggest game of the year facing elimination Harry had 2 catches on 7 targets for 21 yards and Sanu 1 catch on 5 targets for 11 yards.
Both Samuel and Sanders have been vital to Niners success in getting seeded #1 and have contributed with clutch plays in tight games.
Harry and Sanu have failed to step up when Brady needed them and now the Pats are spectators pondering their future.
As my niece posted so perfectly on Facebook today:
“America thanks you for your service, Tennessee Titans!”
So the 49ers will play the Vikings next week after the Saints lose at home. Might sound better than going straight to Seahawks Round 3, But… We’d better not take the Vikings for granted.
Played the Vikes first game in 2018. Played enough common opponents this year to have good film on them. Team in general gets healthy with the bye.
Dee Ford and Taart back, with good chance of Kwon which puts Dre back to SAM and al Jazeera back to the bench. Can Earl Mitchell be a body double for DJ Jones against the run.
Looks good for Saturday.
Niners open as a 6.5 favorite over the Vikes per Vega$
Other favorites are the Chefs by 10, Ravens by 8 and Packers by 4.
One thing about watching an Aints game. Throughout the game every 50/50 call that goes against them is viewed by their crowd as them getting screwed again. It gets old.
They have accepted the whining mantle from the Raiduhs crying about “the Immaculate Reception” and Brady’s “Empty Hand fumble”.
Well, they *did* get screwed pretty darned hard last year…
But yeah, Payton is a putz.
Bullit I’m going to propose a Draftee as our future FB.
‘Bama RB Najee Harris – 6’2″/230
Waiting to see if he declares but…he’s a beast and would be a nice addition/protegé to Juice.
38 Games – 2377 YDS/20 TDs/ 6.1 AYPC
Also…
4 guys to watch in Mobile at the TE position.
The kid from Cincy is a FB as well.
Stephen Sullivan / LSU
Jared Pinkney / Vandy
Harrison Bryant / FAU
Josiah Deguara / Cincy
NJ
IIRC Najee Harris has declared for the draft. He might not last past the 3rd rd.
Must’ve missed it – He’s a load.
Runs and catches well too.
See what comes with the limited Picks we’re holding for now.
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL???
I’m fired up. Bring on the Vikes!!!

GO NINERS!!!
Not seeing him yet?
No worries….All comes out in the wash.

Great highlight clips – Still think the Deebo catch in dbl coverage vs AZ is worthy of a top play of 2019 award.
Another radar guy in Mobile…
Cal CB/FS Ashtyn Davis (6’0″/195) Listed @ 4.39 (?)
45 games – 166 TKLs / 7 INTs
I gotta see this kid in pads.
Cowgurls hire Mike McCarthy as their HC.
Cowgurls hire Mike Nolan as the DC
Rams looking for a scapegoat let Wade Phillips go.
Stupid ego driven move. Rams are about to implode.
I guess we will see how Dallas likes being the king of the prevent defense. I always liked both Nolans but Mike’s legacy was A. Smith and that situation just wasn’t handled very well.
bullit- I agree I think the Rams are gonna regret letting Phillips go. But then again i know nothing of the inner workings of the stinking Rams.
Jerruh and the retreads, starring Jerruh as the puppet master.
Along with the usual supporting cast of yes men.
Some things will never change I ‘spose.
Sure hope A/I doesn’t interfere in Jerruhs’ reign before he joins Al in the great owners box in the sky.
Maybe an Animatronic Jerruh in the crystal sky aquarium during home games?
New post is up.
