Weirdo Weekend

IIRC, the third week of a season was generally the week that produced wacky happenstances in the NFL. But this year, it was definitely week four.

How do you explain yesterday’s results? The unimpressive Browns rolled into the high-flying Ravens’ stadium and trashed them thoroughly all game long. The equally unimpressive Buccaneers then flew to Los Angeles and creamed the previously unbeaten Rams. The Chiefs barely snuck out of Detroit with a last second win. The Eagles hobbled into Green Bay and whipped the Packers. And the Raiders beat the Colts, which was weird mainly because any time they win, it’s weird. It’s probably even sinful.

It’s a good thing the 49ers didn’t play Sunday, or tonight. As it turned out, they took over first place in the NFC West while sitting on the sofa sipping light beer. And they had to like seeing the Rams look eminently beatable against a team the Niners had already beaten.

The Niners haven’t been in first place in October for six or seven years. In fact, they’ve mostly been at the bottom end of the division by then, where they remained planted the rest of the season.

All in all, we might finally have a season worth bitching about. Oh, how the fallen have mightied. The lone remaining unbeaten team in the NFC.

Per The ATHLETIC Niners are bringing some Corners for tryouts today.

“The veterans the team is considering include one-time Raider David Amerson and eight-year veteran Coty Sensabaugh, league sources said. Dontae Johnson, a one-time starter with the 49ers who spent the offseason with the team, also is available after he was released by the Chargers on Saturday, although it’s not known whether he’ll be part of Monday’s session.”

Rams travel to Seattle to play Seahags in 3 days on Thursday

Short week and we can watch them beat the shit out of each other.

Yeah Skeebs it was a weird Sunday for football. One of my favorites was the Dallas game but that’s just me. Glad I didn’t feel the urge to lay some money down since all my locks lost. This weekend also proved that sometimes the best action is to do nothing. Go figure.

The Raiders continue to pay for their sinful ways:

“LB Vontaze Burfict’s year-long suspension now official.”

Niners open as 3.5 point favorites against Brownies next Mon night

Broncos suffer huge loss as Bradley Chubb tore his ACL yesterday and is lost for the season.

Niners need to stop the Brownies Nick Chubb who had 3 rushing TDs and around 180 yds against the Ravens.

    From The Athletic

“The league must decide by Tuesday whether to move the 49ers-Rams game, currently scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 13, to prime time. The game now in that “Sunday Night Football” time slot, the Steelers at the Chargers, could be flexed out for a more compelling matchup”

    Stay tuned

    Oh and Phuck the Rams!

    Per Matt Barrows

“The 49ers-Rams game on Oct. 13 in Los Angeles is NOT being flexed into prime time. The game will kickoff at 1:05 p.m. as previously scheduled.”

Interesting, AA shows good this year to net us a nice comp pick. DeFo and Kittle need to be paid shortly.

Something to keep your eye on.
Jarvis Landry is under concussion protocol and it’s iffy if he’ll be cleared for Monday.
Last game Landry had 168 yds receiving
