Dumping Ground

It was a nation wide dump on Colin Kaepernick week. It’s gotten so bad, even your faithful steely-eyed scribbler has begun to feel sorry for the poor kid. If he stinks it up again in New York next Sunday night, mercy demands he be given a seat on the bench — while there’s still anything left of his psyche.

The official Niner word this week has been that Kaepernick is “in a slump.” By my reckoning, this slump has been deepening for going on two years now. That’s not a slump, it’s a career path.

The Giants have the number one rushing defense and the last place passing defense. Gee, what should the Niners do? Hint: it probably doesn’t matter. The Niners don’t run very well or pass very well.

From purely an entertainment perspective, we need someone else to criticize besides Kaepernick. After all, this whole team is filled with substandard players. Courtesy of GM Trent Baalke. C Marcus Martin, now in his second year, has been a Baalke draft flop. RG Jordan Devey was a desperation pickup from the Patriots, so he’s expected to be lousy, and he hasn’t disappointed. But that means highly touted draft pick guard Brandon Thomas must be awful if he can’t unseat Devey. Another Baalke flop. And how bad must Joe Looney have been if he actually got cut for lousiness? RT Erik Pears was a low rated journeyman player when Baalke signed him in FA, and he’s played precisely like that while he’s been here.

The only reason these O-line guys aren’t being criticized relentlessly is that they’re just lousy and they are playing as well as they can. Kaepernick, however, once was great, was perceived as a great one in the making, and now is not playing great at all. The fallen idol. A standard American favorite.

Of course, this whole mess of a team is the direct fault of Baalke and Jed York. But they generally operate in hiding, especially Baalke. These two are better fodder for the offseason, when there are no games to analyze and dissect. Especially during the two week Super Bowl hoopla, when York can’t possibly hide. He’ll undoubtedly be good for a lot of laughs and total bullshit then. One thing he won’t ever do is own what he’s done. He’s not man enough or wise enough to do so.

There are no big games this year for the 49ers, but this is a big game for the Giants. All of their games are big, since they’re playoff contenders. They blew two games in ridiculous fashion, otherwise they’d be 4-0, instead of 2-2. They can’t afford to let a bottom feeder hand them yet another ridiculous loss.

Skeebs I’m seeing the OLine as a scheme change as well.
If BThomas was Drafted to replace Iupati, he might not fit now?
    Many a hurdle to clear.
Not the least of which is a QB that isn’t seeing the field, which isn’t a new concern for me.

Jed spoke to Jason Cole but not on camera and Jed unfortunately is coaching the team (no surprise) which means Tomsula is his lackey puppet.

Chris Simm is hypercritical of Jed/Baalke in the podcast that follows Cole

What kind of crap is this that the coaches want to see how Kap handles a slump? Talk about stupid losing strategies.
And they’ll be very patient so give this experiment another 2 years?

Very difficult to listen to this BS coming from ownership and the front office. It spells out LOSER.

Staley is questionable for Sunday having missed 2 straight days of practice.

Will be interesting if they move Boone to LT or swing Pears over.

If Staley can’t go it might really be ugly.

Good to see one of the stooges thinks it’s a good idea to take a serious look at the QB now. The more these guys try to sound competent the more they sound like idiots.

“Hey, let’s look at that QB position, that might be something.”

I’m extremely confident now that I read we’re making some exciting changes for this game.

Knowing how these last-minute, knee-jerk, desperation changes help (the ones that didn’t make sense until yesterday) I can’t wait for the blow out win.

Can we laugh it off for Goff?
    Geez this is ridiculous.

NJ, no excuses now. Now is the time to bring out my suggested Halloween costume. Just like the unknown comic you will go as the unknown fan. One hand will hold the decapitated head of Jed.

If u r going to puss out, then write something on your manly chest while it is still warm out. Don’t spill any beer on it.

    Nice suggestion Bakkentom 😀

I will see whether there’s some way to sneak thru a visual aid of some kind.

“Can we laugh it off for Goff?”

Yes NJ we can and that’s prolly the best strategy, lol. We’ve been on that track here for weeks at least. “Bring me the head of Jed”. I like it. A lot.

    What are our choices?

    1) Cry? nawww
    2) Bitch? Done that
    3) Boycott? Good for only a few hours during Levis games
    4) Deny, tilt at windmills, go pink pony? See Blog X
    5) “Can we laugh it off for Goff?” BINGO!

  12. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

1974. yes I remember that but never saw it. We jest of course. It appears York has lost his head without any extra help. How else to explain his brainless actions of past several years?

    On with the comedy show…

  13. Sir Spitblood from GeneoushireNo Gravatar says:

Big game for my boy, Harbaugh, today. His squad is up to an 18th ranking and Northwestern is ranked 13th. After Harbaugh and his Wolverines destroy Northwestern, Michigan will be ranked 13th or 14th in the nation….. and climbing.

Meanwhile, back in Santa Clara, Jed York is the host of a shit show with bloggers like Winder, Unca, Berger and Rob all declaring it was time for Harbaugh to go. No, it wasn’t. Last year was time for Jed York to grow up. Unfortunately he didn’t, and now we’re left with homers still blaming Harbaugh while Roman continues to crumble. Figures.

    Go Wolverines!!!!

  14. Sir Spitblood from GeneoushireNo Gravatar says:

Rome* Roman ain’t crumbling…. Roman’s also prospering. Go figure. Jed York wouldn’t know a good thing if it kissed his ass. That boy could screw-up a wet dream.

  15. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Grant and Lowell Cohn are tearing a new ass hole into CK. Also read a comment that Tim Kawakami is used by Jed for negative motivation on the team.

CK is a prima donna. Can’t wait for the arrogant dimwit to embarrass himself and the team beyond redemption. Then enter the pariah category of an RGIII.

Stupid MFers can be pitchers or wide receivers. Not QB. Can’t read D and decipher all the shit DC’s do to confuse. Then screws around with Nessa and puts the flaky Aldon over the edge.

Media will force him out of the league after this season. No love lost. Mediocre QB’s are a dime a dozen.

Not too long ago Chuck picked the team for 11-5. All in with CK.

  16. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Chryst says timing is the only problem with the offense. Apparently, everything would be okay if defenses didn’t get in the way by defending.

  17. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Mike Shanahan making noises like he wants to coach next year. And bring Kirk Cousins along with him. An FA with Jed money and no draft pics involved.

    Does it make sense.

  18. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Nothing will make sense as long as Baalke is second in command.

  19. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

And York has any voice in football matters.

  20. Sir Spitblood from GeneoushireNo Gravatar says:

Mike Shanahan and Jed York are two people desperate enough to need each other. I doubt Daniel Snyder lets Kirk Cousins out of Washington.

  21. winderNo Gravatar says:

lol. spit- I see you are still crying over Harbaugh. And, i am still glad he’s gone. I didn’t think we could get much worse than last year but we surely did. My bad. Now all I want to see is some solutions on fixing this team. I thinks we should do what Miami is doing and the quicker the better. Have fun watching your Wolverines

  22. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Yeah, Miami is such a model franchise to emulate.

  23. bullitNo Gravatar says:

Worse than last year? I guess you enjoyed Erickson’ 2-14 and Nolan’s 4-12 team.

Come on Winder think before you post.

  24. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Jed saw every political office in SF Bay area held by an agenda driven Democrap Party. Media as an activist spear protecting and pushing a LGBT loving, white hating agenda. Jed with political broker aspirations.

What better way to curry favor than a black QB and entrench him as the #1 no matter what. TB along for the ride or an active participant.

Ironic. CK lynching Jed and TB. In the public square during SB50 spotlight. Silver spoon and a manipulative, power protecting GM burned at the stake in the Levi’s gladiator pit.

  25. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Sports media circling Jed, TB, and CK. Like chum thrown into a piranha tank. Each one of those arrogant bastards deserve what is coming their way.

No sympathy. In a screwed up America the bad actors win. Not this time. Enjoy the impending bloodlust.

  26. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

“49ers promoted G Andrew Tiller from practice squad to 53-man roster; released CB Shareece Wright.”

  27. NoFear49erNo Gravatar says:

“I thinks we should do what Miami is doing and the quicker the better.”

If you mean fire the HC and DC and include the OC, I agree. The DC ain’t sticking here anyway, just waiting for another job offer.

If Jed and Baalke hadn’t dumped the last crew, which was winning lots of games, all this bullshit wouldn’t be going on and Kaepernick might still be in the conversation as the guy.

This is what “Harbaugh was done here” looks like. Brilliant. High school gym teacher/rat is the head coach leading the Jed/Baalke era. You asked for it.

Anytime you have a coach as good as Harbaugh, you put your ego in your pocket and swallow your pride and let him win for you. Or you pull a Jed York and fire him and work hard towards the first overall draft choice the next season. Which one seems more logical?

  38. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

97 unanswered points for UM under the great Jimi H. Yeah he was done coaching great football. LOL. Sure glad we have “head chopper” York and his minions Tommy boy and little Balkey putz. National laughingstocks. Will Yorks political career work better than his heavy handed smashing of the football team? I do feel sorry for Kap tho. Think he misses the previous HC?

Too early for me to watch live but great highlights available of the UM rout.

  39. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

“…swallow your pride and let him win for you. Or you pull a Jed York and fire him and work hard towards the first overall draft choice the next season. Which one seems more logical?”

That’s a tough one. Lemme see, quick look at Harbaugh Scoreboard above shows University of Michigan/Harbaugh at 5-1 with the San Francisco Niners at 1-3. To laugh it is.

Some people just love ‘head choppers’ regardless of reason, results or commonsense. I can think of other examples.

Cutler lead Bears to lead KC with 18 seconds left. Done without Alshon Jeffrey and IR’d Kevin White. Cutlets not living up to the mocking nickname.

December can’t come soon enough. CK versus Cutler. Maybe Chuck and RTF will do posts on it.

  56. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Gee, Cutlet’s is 2-2. I’d write Mom about it, but forgive her, dear girl, she passed a long time ago. Had a much better career than Jay.

You think his QBR is inflated by the 116 AZ game that the Bears lost by 25?

  57. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

RTF, please give us a regular breakdown on how it can be done missing Kevin White for the year and Alshon Jeffrey so far. That’s like CK missing Torrey Smith and Boldin.

Look forward for your posts contrasting CK versus Cutlets every week. TIA

  58. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

Ravens next. Does their pass D miss Suggs.

CLE QB McCown just put up 457 yds 2 tds so no excuse for CK to man up next Sunday and restart. Similar to the game tonight, another shit pass D waiting to be raped by CK.

  59. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Week by week is idiotic when comparing QBs. How about comparing careers? How about, if you dump Kappy, getting the highest paid player in the league who has never done anything now in his 11th (yes 11th year) is hallucinogenic. Nah, hallucinogens don’t make you lose touch with reality.

  60. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Week by week comparisons are fun but completely devoid of reality. I’m sure you’re a Tyrod Taylor fan, too. He’s sure better than anybody the Bills have had for awhile. But seriously, as a franchise QB? OTOH, I’d take him over Cutlet’s. He’s relatively young and shows promise if not overwhelming talent.

  61. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

If you’ve read anything from me, you know I love Carr and think Bridgewater with the right team behind him could be a very dangerous QB. If you want to discuss them vs. Kappy’s play RIGHT NOW, I surrender. But let’s wait and see how the season turns out.

The highest paid player in the league won’t lead his team to the playoffs. Again. Bank on it.

  62. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Seriously, you guys must have been in hog heaven today. Cutler vs. Alex? 35 points total.

I mean, I liked Steve DeBerg, I understand. DeBerg went to SJSU, same as Bill Walsh and later Jeff Garcia. Jim Plunkett was born in San Jose. I was born in San Jose.

It doesn’t mean I wanted DeBerg as a franchise QB.

  63. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

Funnest game for me was seeing Seattle blow a 17 pt. 4th quarter lead. Kind of like they did in the SB.

  64. SkeebersNo Gravatar says:

49ers inactives: WR White, RB Davis, LB Hodges, LB Brooks, OL Silberman, NT Purcell, TE Davis

  65. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

Here’s a prime example of what I’m talking about. Carr’s QBR dropped to QBR atm because of a horrid Pick-6. The Raiders were down 9-7 and that pass will probably cost the game.

When you look at it, though… Denver has a terrific defense with a great pass rush – Carr has been under pressure all game. SeaBass had a kick blocked and he missed one to take the lead. The Raiders shouldn’t have been behind in the first place, and Carr is the reason why.

He’ll be the goat for the game because of the pick, but he has played a terrific game for a soph QB against a SB-quality team.

  66. RTFireflyNo Gravatar says:

  81. Sir Spitblood from GeneoushireNo Gravatar says:

Peyton Manning is 5-0 throwing up wounded duck after wounded duck. Eventually, someone will make Manning pay, and the Broncos, despite a great defense aren’t even close to a Super Bowl contender because of Manning’s arm.

Watch the Woodson INT. That’s Manning’s strategy all year long – throw up wounded ducks and let his receivers win the jump balls. Can’t win Super Bowls that way. The Broncos’ 5-0 start is a paper tiger.

  82. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

What happened. Why did CK do better? Giants pass D brought no pressure? Lots of seperation between receivers and DB coverage?

What is different tonight from the previous 2 games. ARI and GB had better pass rush?

  83. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

Yes NY pass rush not as good. Also Kap was more accurate and the scheme seemed to include more shorter passes to WRs less to TEs. I would be interested to hear NF and NJ thoughts on why Kap was better today.

How was the game for you NJ?

  84. bakkentomNo Gravatar says:

More accurate when not throwing off back foot. CK does better also when there is greater seperation from dB to receiver. In 2 weeks the acid test is Seattle D.

He needs to show it then for decent trade value. Needs to prove he is a man in the pocket and not bail, leaving open receivers.

  86. NoFear49erNo Gravatar says:

Phil, no pressure, no pass defense from NYG, run game, all left, had some success, shorter passes, no long passes when needed to convert. **Kaeperick got rid of the ball quicker.**

Also noticed we hardly ran much zone blocking. Pretty good play calls. And geared to protect Kaepernick from risky throws.

Kaepernick did okay not great. But on the road it was better than expected. Pretty good game plan. A couple of calls which went our way helped when we needed it, too.

  87. phil fanNo Gravatar says:

I thought the O was better too as well as NY D was ‘weaker’ on pass D and pressure on Kap. We did run left a lot as you said. Game plan seemed more effective so I guess we improved from poor to mediocre on O. But then the D was giving up a ton of short passes and missing tackles for YAC. Our run D was not great either. Did we sack Manning? Can’t say we have played a complete game yet, maybe Min.

This is just Jed York being the spoiled petulant trust fund baby.

  90. bullitNo Gravatar says:

I have come up with a brilliant way to show the 49er Fan’s disapproval of Jed York’s actions. You use York’s kryptonite
    which is Harbaugh.

Most Niner fans own a pair of khaki pants. Add to that either a NIner black sweatshirt and cap or a Michigan sweatshirt and cap.
If you get a congregation of 50-100+ fans dressing up like Harbaugh it will get on TV and embarrass Jed or at least piss him, off. It is simple and doable and beats wearing a paper bag over your head and channeling the Unknown Comic.
