Seattle proved Sunday night that they have the loudest bunch of drunks in the world. Their football team, however, has yet to prove they are even a .500 club away from home. They weren’t last year, going 3-5 on the road. Until they prove they can win ANYWHERE, they’re just a so-so team propped up by noise. They lost all three division road games last year. Puleeze.
This might explain why 49er HC Jim Harbaugh put a vanilla game plan in action Sunday night. His entire focus was on making sure his QB got out of the game uninjured. Frank Gore played the whole game, but was used almost exclusively as an extra blocker in pass protection. Harbaugh conceded the game, preferring to whip the Seattle frauds in December when those poor little boys come to Candlestick over-confident and ripe for a beat down.
So, throwing out Sunday’s game, because it will be atoned for later in the year, and what do we have? The Seahawks squeezing by the Panthers (snicker, snicker) and the 49ers rolling over Green Bay (hubba, hubba).
There is one adjustment this week that the team should consider: tell Colin Kaepernick that Kyle Williams is getting open pretty much on a regular basis, and open deep. In fact, he might be our best WR right now. It behooves Mr. K to start looking for Mr. W and not fixating on Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis. Just a humble suggestion Mr. H.
As reported Tuesday, the 49ers put NT Ian Williams on season ending IR, then signed FB Owen Marecic. The team now has a league leading 3 FBs on the roster and only 1 NT. Is there another shoe that might be dropping this week? Or soon? Maybe it’s this 8th Bloody Mary, but the picture seems a little fuzzy.
FS Eric Reid is not showing any concussion symptoms, which is quite good considering Andrew Luck is coming to town this weekend. Vernon’s tender hammy is apparently no big deal. And Ray McDonald does not have a high ankle sprain. We’re awash in positive news.
Demarcus Dobbs is now the main backup D-lineman and has a chance to show us he belongs, before Tank Carradine and Quinton Dial come off the PUP list and join the roster after the BYE week. Go Dobbsie!
I think I’m feeling better now. Still, another Bloody Mary won’t hurt. Right?
