Well, hell, I’m impressed. The league probably is, too. And if not, then at least Carolina should be.
Whew, what a butt kicking. This was a good Panthers team, but the 49ers just trampled them from start to finish. On the ground, in the air, and on defense. 27-3 in the first half; 24-10 in the second.
Panthers QB Kyle Allen entered the game with a 4-0 record and not a single interception on his resume. He left the game with a 4-1 record, three interceptions, seven sacks, and a 28.9 QB rating. Cam Newton had the wheels greased for his return next week.
This year is looking eerily similar to 1981, when a young 49er team roared out of nowhere and took the league by storm all the way to SB victory number one.
The 49ers’ defense has not allowed a touchdown pass since Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh, and it’s the fourth consecutive game they have given up 100 or fewer yards passing. All-world rookie DE Nick Bosa had three sacks Sunday, seven on the year, plus an interception with a 46 yard power return. Arik Armstead had two sacks himself.
Bosa’s int was a spectacular effort where he stopped his pass rush on a dime, leaped up and snatched Allen’s pass out of the air with hands any DB would love to have, then shoved Allen out of the way and another would be tackler near the end of his run before finally succumbing to an ankle tackle. This was no D-line rumbling forward run. Much more like a fullback on the loose run.
RB Tevin Coleman had a big day, too, with three TDs and 105 yards on 11 carries. Not to be overlooked, Dante Pettis had one catch for five yards, keeping his streak alive of making the stat sheet while contributing pretty much nothing.
Emmanuel Sanders made his Niner debut, catching four passes for twenty-five yards and the 49ers’ first TD of the game. He would prove to be an afterthought following that opening drive, but it was clear the team’s WR corps got a big boost by trading for him just last week.
It’s going to be a short week, with a trip to Arizona for a Thursday night game. Let’s hope the team saved some of its excellence for that game and they enter the midway point of year with a perfect 8-0 record.
Sometimes you can learn a lot from what your opponent says after the game

Actually Bosa’s interception was more spectacular because he was cut block and then got up and leaped up for the pick. Bosa has a non stop motor and will not give up on a play by being on the ground and crawling to the QB to bring him down.
Bosa is actually a humble guy.

What fun. As long as we can stay healthy we should be right in the mix.
The Cards just traded for Dolphin RB Kenyon Drake.
The Cards were hurting at RB and now Niners will face Drake on Thurs.
The Jests just traded DT Leonard Williams to the Giants.
Lots of deals happening before tomorrow’s trade deadline.
We did our shopping early.
Per Maiocco teams are asking about CJ Beathard but want to offer draft picks in the 6th round or later.
Leonard Williams was traded for a 3rd and a 5th round pick.
Williams was a first rounder drafted 6th by the Jests.
For those who are thinking about trading Solomon Thomas this is about what you can get in return in today’s market.
Solomon for a third rounder? I’d make that deal. We use a third in the coming draft. I would hold Beathard until we get an offer for a high 5th or low 4th.
It’s not Solomon’s fault he is a tweener, but it’s hard to see how he is going to make a big impact behind all the other talent we have.
At this point I wouldn’t trade CJ unless we got what we paid for him. I would give Soloman one more year to see if he can improve we got him on his rookie contract so he isn’t hurting the team.
I would also find a way to pay both Ward and AA. I never thought I would say that. I know we are gonna have to find some way to get more draft picks but our starters are running on all cylinders and we should keep that going until the wheels fall off.
AA is a late blooming success story but does he fit our situation. Currently in 2020 the draft picks that are roster upgrades is only the late 1st. Gone are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
Eman should be the only reach for 2019 team glory. Getting close to hitting our salary cap with existing roster for 2020.
Quality competition brings out the best in a team. Need more high draft picks. Or failed high draft picks elsewhere that need our coaching up. AA gives us flexibility in this area. Our depth is dline deep and snaps needed.
Hate to give him up for a 3rd RD comp.
Per Schefter of ESPN two names have come up in a trade scenario for CJ Beathard. Chi Bears would trade WR Taylor Gabriel straight up for Beathard.
Other rumor less likely is Beathard straight up for TE Austin Hooper of the Falcons. Falcons are divided on Hooper who like Sanders becomes a UFA next season.
Trade deadline is tomorrow afternoon.
I’d still leave CJ in the conversation with Scangarello in Denver too.
Seems Flacco may have generated a herniated disc issue at the post game presser?
CJ is probably better than Trubisky too at this point.
Problem is, as most everyone knows, when you miss on the QB in the top 10, it takes a long time to recover your losses.
Still think history will show, the deal we made for Thomas/Trubisky, may be the laugher of Draft history.
Chicago is snake bitten with kickers too.
However, they’ve got some Draft capital to spend next year and, we’ve given away too many Picks at this point.
Hope to see something happen today to change that.
Rex Ryan thinks Niners are the best team in the league
https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t&p=rex+ryan+49ers#id=2&vid=45571ebb36ecc688f48a4b8b8d0054e9&action=click
Kiss of death.
Lol. Hopefully nothing Ryan says sways the football Gods. I think the players are having too much fun to really pay attention to all the outside bull.
Brunskill is putting up better performance numbers than Skule and this week he graded out the highest among starting RTs in the league, which bodes well for future Oline depth. With Coleman returning from injury the Niners might already have Staley and Person’s replacements in house.
Also the most sought after coach might be unknown running game coordinator Mike McDaniel who seems to be highly coveted by other teams.
I guess when KS said he was impressed with Brunskill he wasn’t just talking shit.
Trade deadline passes with a whimper, not a roar. Only move I heard today was the Rams dumping Talib and his salary.
All the deals were last week.
The week of the Bosas

Warner’s whiffed and Drake on his way for 36 yards. Dee Ford horse collar tackle. Not a good start.
First serving of a little humble pie.
ARI missing starters on D and ILB demoted, another Keim phuck up.
Helmut on the knee of Kittle by Chandler Jones. Deebo blows it with a false start. Deebo for the safe underneath pass misses a 1st by a mile. Punt
Warner a facemask. Get real guys.
Jimmy forced a pass to Kittle. Engine brake only half the cylinders are providing power on O so far. Dismal against a bad ARI D so far.
Kittle back in for TD. Knee is good, lucky us.
Warner dropped a pick 6. Sanders creates seperation on Patrick Peterson for 20 yds. Skule does a mindless hold and nullifies a big Breida gain.
32 yd pickup Sanders on Peterson again. Sanders another gain. About time!
Bourne wide open in end zone for 7.
Sanders 3 catches on drive, Jimmy 5 for 5. Kittle took a breather, not all on his back. Pettis no catches so far, is Sanders starting in front of him.
Deebo dropped easy pass for TD.
Sanders TD after Kingsbury called TO to nullify their stop. 4th and 1 converted. 21-7.
The real 49ers finally showed up.
Cards looked good in 7 play, 83 yd drive for TD. No huddle. Kenyan Drake tough in open field.
Where is Pettis. Any Pettis sightings? Bourne got a TD.
Kittle, Dwelley, Samuel, Sanders. No Pettis.
Saw Pettis on Sanders catch.
No Bosa tackles, sacks so far. Pettis finally got 21 yd td. First catch of night.
Tevon Coleman with probably the ugliest drop of the decade for the 49ers. Right through his hands. Just awful.
Have been thinking how many of a very good draft class was on the field tonight for ARI.
BOOM Andy Isabella 88 yd td with only 3 catches this year. No answer for Kenyan Drake. We can still get the W but …
Excellent TNF game to help NFL ratings. New exciting teams or no more Colin Kapernick shoved in your face by the media. No more FU’s to america.
Cardinals are going to be tough once they get some time to gel. No one in our division is a gimme.
Survived a trap game. Underachieved but survived. Dodged the proverbial bullet.
OL gave up a lot of pressure in the middle tonight. Chandler Jones got the better of Skule, by a lot.
