49ers 41, Lions 33

That was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t.

Tough to score 41 points and be the least impressive NFC West win of the day. The Rams, Seahawks, and Cardinals all routed some very good teams. The 49ers squeaked by the Lions.

Verrett gone for the year, Mostert out eight weeks. And the Niner injury train just keeps rolling along.

Another year, another RB comes out of nowhere to dazzle defenses. From Tevin Coleman to Matt Breida to Raheem Mostert to Jeff Wilson and back to Mostert and now sixth round pick Elijah Mitchell. Ever since Mostert whined his way to a bigger paycheck, he’s been nothing but injury riddled. He missed most of last year and didn’t even get out of the first quarter Sunday.

Next week’s Eagles game, which looked like easy pickings when the schedules came out, now seems a bit more tenuous after they routed the Falcons on Sunday. The Falcons are probably not very good, but the Eagles also might not be very bad.

What the hell happened to the 49er defense that was supposed to be as good or better than the 2019 defense? They looked really mediocre against the Lions, especially the run defense.

Frustrating team to root for.

My guess is that we are just not as good as ‘I’ thought we were. I am at the point of not hoping to stay healthy. We are on target to lose 32 more players this year. Shanny should take a page from Walsh and go for the juggler. Cause even lowly Detroit can throw points on quickly.

Eagles have a mobile QB and deep WR speed.
An issue we don’t handle easily.
I have this game as a highly rough one to win.
Need Kinlaw inside and plenty of DL pressure.
Not to mention a tight Secondary.

    “49ers’ keeping-pace-with-injuries moves:
    * Signed CB Dre Kirkpatrick and promoted CB Dontae Johnson from practice squad
    * Placed RB Raheem Mostert and CB Jason Verrett on IR.
    * Added RB Kerryon Johnson and LB Curtis Bolton to practice squad, released WR Isaiah Zuber from psquad.”

Niners sign Dre Kirkpatrick and Lynch has told Dick Sherman to get ready for second half of the season because they’ll probably need him.
Possibility of 3 CBs over 31 years old manning the backfield.

We can get by with journeymen CBs against most teams if Ford and Bosa stay healthy. Tough ones will be against more mobile QBs. But that was already true.

Greenlaw out 4-6 weeks getting his groin fixed.

That’s gonna hurt. Big dropoff in talent between him and the next guy.
