Juggernaut!
572 yards. 5 TDs. 27-14 edge in first downs. 259 yards rushing.
The 49ers torched the Bengals on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati. They stuffed the Bengals running game (19 attempts for 25 yds), sacked Andy Dalton four times, and dominated the game from start to finish.
Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert are looking like a formidable rushing tandem. Breida had 121 yards on just 12 carries, then gave way to Mostert, who had 83 yards on 13 attempts. Both of them ran through the Bengals like they were stuck in quicksand. Breida is quietly becoming one of the best RBs in the league. Durability is the only thing that has held him back. If he can stay healthy this season, he’ll post some pretty big numbers.
WR Deebo Samuel might have a significantly goofy name, but the second round rookie is looking like the real deal so far. He’s passed by last year’s second rounder (Dante Pettis) and yesterday was the leading 49ers receiver. For the past two years that distinction has been owned almost exclusively by TE George Kittle, who had a tidy game (3 catches for 54 yards), but was not the only guy making the passing game go for a change.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen this kind of game from the Niners. It’s possible, even likely, that the Bengals are just a lousy football team, but last week they took the Seahawks to the wire before losing. If Niner fans remain skeptical of their team, you can bet the Seattle boys have taken notice. They might not be quaking in their boots yet, but seriously concerned would not be a stretch.
Not many of us expected to start the season with two victories in the Eastern time zone. And nobody expected the team to hit the BYE week with a 3-0 record. A home game against Pittsburgh is the only thing that can prevent such a splendid beginning, though. The Steelers might have been prohibitive favorites when we looked at the schedule, but they don’t look that formidable now. And maybe the Niners do.
The only negative from the game was losing LT Joe Staley for eight weeks with a broken fibula. How the team copes during that time will go a long way toward determining their fate this year.
Staley has a hairline fracture that won’t require surgery so he needs for it to heal and he should be back mid-season 9seahags game?)per Matt Barrows.
Rip John Ralston ex Stanford and Bronco head coach.
RIP Eddie Money
RIP Rik Ocasek
Per ESPN Football Power Index after 2 games. For me a 4-0 start is quite possible if this team remains focused on the game that week.
Saleh is rotating 8-9 defensive linemen but the scheme has been highly effective and all are making plays.
11-5-0 Projected record
33.6% To win Division
73.8% To make Playoffs
5.3% To win Super Bowl
“Ben Roethlisberger will miss rest of year after elbow surgery.”
Wow. Without Rapistberger, the Steelers game at home becomes a Should-Win.
This week’s game was very impressive. The win over TB could have been seen as a little fluky, but this win over the Bengals was one of those all-team solid victories that gives me some hope for the future.
Still Niners can’t Steelers lightly but the stars are aligned for the Niners when the Steelers don’t have Bell, Antonio Brown, Big Ben and
James Conner on their offense.
They weren’t doing so hot with Ben and Conner playing. They need to be all in tyhis week because the Bye week follows.
Maybe they will be interested in CJ.
Niners are now 6.5 point favorites over Steelers
Pittsburgh went from 40-1 odds to win Super Bowl to 100-1
Well, I did, but chicken little pussy pants doesn’t let me post here.
Hey look at that. I had us starting fast but faltering by the end of the season. 9-7. Although the Falcons certainly don’t look very formidable anymore. Things change quickly in Pete’s NFL.
NY Giants pick up TE Kaden Smith off waivers when Niners had to make room to activate Jeff Wilson.
If Niners win this Sunday it’ll be their first 3-0 start since 1998.
IIRC the Giants picked up Bear Pasco(sp) from us and won a SB. But maybe it was David Baas it’s been awhile.
Hey V McD is still hanging with the Steelers. Who knows? Would you believe Bear Pascoe?
Hah!@ didn’t see your post Winder.

Wonder if he might cover Kittle as Steelers are giving up TDs to TEs.
Lions shuffle Ex-Niner QBs as backups.
They release Josh Johnson and sign Jeff Driskel as the backup.
Steelers sign Paxton Lynch as 3rd string QB. The current backup is Devlin Hodges. They also that traded for Kirkpatrick is their starting FS.
Niners switch long snappers signing ex-Raiduh Jon Condo. They cut current LS Colin Holba
Seahags signed Adrian Colbert to their Practice Squad
